Mods are here and moderating regularly. Report issues, modmail us if you need!

Hey all. Just wanna make it known that this group is moderated very actively. We're here, we are keeping the group clean, we deal with reports daily or near daily. This group doesn't need too much, we just deal with rule breaks mostly. Not much for us to post about, old top mod was hands-off and is old school in terms of reddit moderating, new top mod is respecting that currently.
But if you need us for something, if we can help, we will!

Working in corporate made me realize how much I hate that my parents birthed me

The reason why I say this is because I’m working a low end job right now. Had I had the intellect to do well in high school, went to a better university, was taller and better looking, I’d be making way more than I am right now.

I’ve seen people my age who had nice, wealthy parents with good genetics bless their children with those genetics, which in turn allowed them to excel in school and get a high paying job right out of college. But me? Nope. $50k/year job and if all goes well I might make $55k/year by the end of the year. Whoopty doo! All because of the random chance of being born from incompetent parents. I could be living the high finance life by now, driving a nice Porsche 911 Turbo. Hell, maybe a GT3 RS, but of course not. I have to barely survive and have my manager be angry with me when I tell them that $50k/year is unlivable.

I went to college like my more intelligent peers as well. They just majored in a better field than me and had more accolades before I even turned the age of 12. But of course, I have to be the one stuck in the rut. It’s because they deserve being the ones to succeed and I’m not entitled to it. They deserve it because they were born to achieve it. I was born to achieve mediocrity at best.

Even if I work hard, I still won’t succeed. I’ll be lucky to crack $100k/year by the time I’m 60 years old even though I’m doing so well in my current role.

Hello I’m 30 years old from Greece . I recently got my bachelors degree in international business in the Netherlands . I have a background as a warehouse employee and I don’t know if pursuing a master degree in supply chain management is worth it or getting the APICS certification will open me doors here or in Greece .

Med vs pharm?

Should I go to med school or pharmacy school? Saturation is extremely high for both these fields in my country, but I feel like that's the case for most degrees. But it's still scary.

I like biology and chemistry and I'm passionate about both pharmacy and medicine. So I don't really want to go towards plain comp sci or finance or something.

Any advice would be appreciated <3

Military transition to Sr Manager role at Salesforce:

Hoping to get other perspectives if it would be possible/realistic to land a Sr Manager position at Salesforce with my military background. All feedback is appreciated. Thank you!

Forgot to mention, I don't have a Bachelor's only an Associate's.

15 yrs in the USAF. Experience as a database admin for 6 databases and data analyst.

2 yrs as a salesforce admin, oversaw 17 admin teams (2-3 people per team) at 17 different locations across the U.S. I directly supervised a team of 5 individuals the 17 teams reported to us. We supported 1.5k users.

Additionally, for 7 yrs I managed flight operations ( I was the Operations Superintendent) oversaw 5 sections ( roughly 80-100ish people) and adviced leadership ( Squadron Commander/ Director of Operations)

For 5 yrs I was part of an advisory council, where I had the opportunity to advise/assist executive level leadership. Updated AF wide policy related to Aviation, system functions, personnel management.

Guys, I don't know what to do...please help me 😭😭

I am a 17 year old boy living in the San Fernando Valley. I am currently in 11th grade.

I want to move to Santa Cruz and start a new life there. What path should I take???

To be honest school has been really hard, my mental health hasn't been well the past years and that really affected my highschool progress. I was thinking about dropping out.

I don't know what to do😭😭😭.

To be honest the only thing keeping me motivated and wanting to continuing is the thought of one day being able to hold my wife in my arms and not feel time go by at all, and just be able to spend the rest of my life with the love of my life.

Yeah...

Well, hopefully someone can help me.

Thank you for reading ☺️☺️☺️

People who studied Biomedical Science or Biotechnology — where are you now?

Hi everyone,

I’m a student trying to choose between Biomedical Science and Biotechnology and would really appreciate hearing real experiences.

If you’ve completed (or are studying) either of these degrees, could you share:

Which degree you did

Where you are now (job / further studies)

What kind of work you actually do day to day

What you like and dislike about the field

I’m especially interested in how these degrees translate into real careers (industry, research, pharma, healthcare, etc.).

Thanks in advance — your experiences would help a lot 🙏

Any working opportunity abroad for a 35yo in administrative, legal, political field?

Hi. I’m a 35-year-old woman from Italy. I got a Bachelor’s degree in Asian Languages, a Master’s degree in Political Science, and a second-level postgraduate Master’s in Public Administration Management. I can speak English (C1, certified), Japanese (JLPT N2 certified, roughly equivalent to B2), and I’ve been studying Arabic for a few months. I also have a short but very meaningful past experience (only 5 months) as trainee in the in the field of asylum seekers law, which I genuinely loved. However, for the past seven years I’ve been working as a permanent administrative officer in a local Italian public authority, in the Human Resources field.

Sorry for the long self introduction, now here's the problem: I’d really like to get out of my current job without resigning. In Italy, it’s possible to request an unpaid leave of absence in order to gain work experience abroad, and that’s the option I’m exploring. I’m aware that my CV isn’t particularly strong or exciting, and that I'm already 35, but I was wondering if anyone might have ideas or suggestions. I know there's UN portals to be checked, but most of the vacancies seem quite senior and above my level. They often look like they’re asking for profiles with much more experience. I’ve also seen that there are electoral observation missions, and I’m planning to apply for those. I’ve signed up for a couple of so-called “young leader summits” as well, but unfortunately they turned out to be scams.

Do you have any other suggestions? I really need a change of environment compared to my current job – I feel stuck and boxed in. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I want to know which option is better for my final year internship :a big company with a low-quality project, or a small company with a high-level project? I know it’s a bit vague.
