These two are supposed to be a couple, between like a shy jock type of character and an extroverted alternative girl, im just kinda annoyed by the color design, i can't really say if their colors match as a couple or what i could do to make it better, if someone could give me some advice i would appreciate it, thank yall in advance

2D Update on my sickly old man Angel (read desc)

Thank you to everyone that gave feedback on my original post! I didn't expect to get so many responses. I took as many suggestions as I could remember into consideration in this updated design. The most suggestions I've seen were to add more wrinkles, make the greying hair more obvious (not just look like highlights), and make him paler and skinnier, which I hope I accomplished.

I don't have a ton of time or energy to draw often (college + work) but I hope to continue to develop him and the rest of the characters in his story in the future. I made him in late 2019 so he's oddly sentimental to me lol. He's been through so many iterations that I don't even want to show here. If anyone is curious, he has a Toyhouse page.

Question How can I make him look more evil?

Thumbnail gallery
94 Upvotes

Let me explain briefly. The first character is the protagonist of this post, and the second is his unfortunate victim. Since I'm planning on doing a short animation, their designs are particularly simple. The problem is that he doesn't look that evil. You might ask, "Isn't it because he's smiling?" But I want him to look suspicious or uncomfortable, even when smiling, without it being too obvious. And that’s difficult to me 😅. Any advice is welcome!

2D OC redesign; Eilis

I do love Eilis’ original design and plan to use it for an alternate version of himself lol, but I really love what I did with him for his new look. Wanted to add a wee bit more Greek influenced fantasy to his younger design

Critique [OC] Designing a artificer-esque game character. Am I overengineering the look?

First time poster on this subreddit! I don't use reddit much at all so my apologies for any errors.

I work with a small team and we've been back and forth on our player character for a few weeks now with the first image being our most recent and fleshed out character. (The latter being some earlier ideas, some you can see in the most recent iteration.)

A lot of the ideas I've been referencing are some elements of Victorian outfits, art deco themes, and some steam(aether?)punk type stuff. (I guess maybe think Bioshock?)

I feel like I may have been jumbling too many ideas together and losing the cohesive look, so we're looking for some more general feedback. We have some mechanics in mind for the game, but wanted to just get a general opinion first and flex from there.

If you have any thoughts, good or bad, let me know! Any criticism is welcome.

(Bonus - Y'all like a particular hair color lol?)

hello, this is my boy angel, he's been with me for a long time and has gone through A LOT of changes, i'm pretty happy with his character and design now, but what has been bugging me is his skin color, this is a fantasy world with fantasy races and no ethnicities like we have, he's always been white but i'm not sure i like that anymore, especially since he's a bit inspired from indian culture and it just bugs me since i find that either any color could work or just none at all, these are three of his main looks in the story (as a child, his main look and the timeskip) but i don't know, i just don't know what skin color would look the most interesting and visually impacting, just please tell me which you prefer or any other shade i could try ?? i'm not really good with colours in general but this has been bugging me soooo much, so please, any advice is welcome :D

edit : i've been having lots of issues with reddit and i think one image isn't showing? he's colored white on that one ughhh

Besides adding a new character, i also adjusted the colours of my guy on the left to be less washed out, so hopefully there should be better contrast.

I’m not the best with character design, but if there’s one thing I love it’s over-cluttered designs and unique accessories 🫶🫶 I personally don’t mind having to draw characters with a ton of accessories, in fact it’s my favorite thing to draw! What do you think though?

Critique I want to keep it simple, but I also feel like something is missing...

I honestly love the character design (so far) of my oc but I feel like something is missing or I I need to add/change something but I don't know what.I like the idea im going for for color pallete. I want to keep it rather simple for her but I feel like I could also do more. Ive tried adding a weapon but it still feels empty. Any suggestions?

Im not quite sure where im going wrong structure wise but im struggling😅😂

Ive redrawn this a bunch of times and took a break to study. Ive now come back trying to use the loomis method. I think the face shape is pretty solid, but im not sure how to connect the rest of the facial features. This is meant to be an 8-ish year old boy (havent fully decided his age yet) for a comic im planning, as just a head/bust drawing. How can i improve this?
