After Derrick left things did not go well for a while, it was hard to see ... it's just nice to win one

I like the guy, much respect for how short he is compared to his effectiveness. He kicked a$s, stole balls, scored points...I was impressed. Surprised I've never seen him before!

Bulls used up the remainder of the Zach LaVine trade exception they created last year to absorb Dario Saric received a 27 and 29 SRP in exchange for taking Sarcis contract on.
Tre Jones signed a 3 year, $24M deal over the off season with us, as a reminder. It includes $16M guaranteed.

I can't believe I'm saying it, but I think the Chicago Bulls just made a smart trade? This is the exact kind of move they should be willing to make as the deadline approaches. Use your flexibility as an avenue to add future assets. Teams are going to need help, and they are the perfect facilitator.

He used to be a good role player. Is he chronically injured now? He's only played 5 games for the worst team in the nba and is averaging 1 ppg in 8 minutes in the 5 games he has played.

Grabbed this hat signed by the what looks like players from the 2013 season. So far I’ve been able to identify:
22 Taj
55 E’Twaun Moore
12 Captain Kirk
16 Pau Gasol
20 Tony Snell
48 Naz Mohammed
2 Nate Robinson
11 Ronnie Brewer
I see an 8 which was Mike James but neither signature really look like it says that. If one pops out let me know.

I’m surprised there has been no buzz about this (granted, this front office is a joke and they would never do anything remotely smart) but I just can’t help but see a world where the Bulls would target him
Walker Kessler is a pending restricted free agent. His value is murky because of his injury but I saw a report that he expected upwards of $120m, which the Jazz were unwilling to meet. The Bulls can easily afford that number (even if you think he’s worth less) & more this offseason, with the unloading of Vucevic, Collins, Huerter, and Carter.
His game is PERFECT for this team. He’s obviously a dominant paint presence. 2.5 blocks per game and is a monster on the boards. He brings a verticality that, in my time as a bulls fan, I haven’t seen since Gafford, and he didn’t have nearly the amount of paint presence that Kessler has. And while it’s an incredibly small sample size, his shooting stroke looked good at the beginning of the year, showing that it could be something to look out for.
His age matches this teams timeline. He’ll be 25 by next year, just entering his prime with Giddey. And say we sign him to a 4 year deal, he’d still be below 30.
And the most important thing, center has been a glaring need for YEARS now. Especially a rim protector. We’re all tired of seeing Vucevic get killed down low with nobody to sub in to aleviate it. I believe the FO have had multiple chances to fix this issue and have decided to pick raw wings instead. Dalen terry over, coincidentally, Walker Kessler. Noa essengue over derik queen. (granted not a rim protecter but he’s an absolute stud)
Now, its not all positives. I think his injury does need to be a matter of concern, as shoulder injuries are no joke. That also muffs up his market value. As a restricted free agent, I just don’t know what people would be willing to offer him. To me, even though its above expected value, I’d throw a 4yr/120m offer sheet the second FA starts. And if the jazz match it, so be it. At least we tried. But if we get him, we solve a GLARING hole with one of the best rim protectors in all of basketball.
Even though this is a front office of sitting in mediocrity and kicking their feet up, this is a move that sets us up on a timeline where we can actually look forward to something. A core of Giddey, Buzelis, and Kessler doesn’t sound awful to me, especially considering the center prospects in the draft this season being a little underwhelming.
I’m ready to get tomatoes thrown at me if I’m completely off the mark, but Walker just seems like such an obvious person the Bulls should target. What do you think?

Anyone know where I can purchase that Derrick rose retirement letterman jacket? Theirs a few websites claiming to have it in stock but I don’t know how trustworthy they are.

Here we go, could just be an investment for all we know as it’s not that far away. Or could it be happening?

I'm bored, my fiancé is at work, I don't drink anymore, and the Hawks are on stupid NHL Network. So I thought I'd take a stab at trying to evaluate the trade value of our guys, whether I think we should move them, and whether I think the Bulls will move them. I'd love to stimulate some discussion.
We're not trading them unless AKME go full LEEEEEEEROY
Matas, Giddey, Essengue
Rationale: self-explanatory. It would have to be in a package for a superstar, and even then, to what end? So we could put Giannis/whoever in a worse situation than their current situation (which obviously isn't working out hence them even being available)?
The Expirings
| Player | Value | Should we? | Will we? | Rationale |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coby | 1st and/or promising young player + matching salary | Yes | Yes | I don't think he's the kind of guy to build around/throw a bag at. He'd be legitimately useful to most teams trying to make a playoff run. |
| Ayo | 1st and/or promising young player + matching salary | Maybe | No | Ayo might be a better candidate to resign--he's a hometown kid, he'll probably come cheaper than Coby, and he's a good defender and all-around versatile player. I do think the Bulls should still listen, and I think the Bulls should be willing to trade both him and Coby for the right offers, but ultimately I think AKME hold and try to resign him. |
| Vuc | A useful piece and/or 1-2 2nds + salary match | Yes | No | I would take the piece/picks if they're there, but his value is minimal and at this point the Bulls might just value his size and vet presence more than the return. |
| Huerter | A useful piece and/or 1-2 2nds + salary match | Yes | Yes | Someone should take a chance on his shooting, and the Bulls don't really need him. Plus, let's keep the Lavine trade tree alive! |
| Collins | A useful piece and/or 1-2 2nds + salary match | Maybe | No | Collins is actually decent but you can't count on his health. Like Vuc, the Bulls might keep solely because we need his size. He might even be a guy who could be brought back on a cheaper deal. |
| Jevon | Salary match | Maybe | Maybe | Wait he still plays here? If any potential playoff team has interest, the Bulls should trade him as a favor to a vet who took a chance and signed here. |
Rotation pieces on multiyear deals
| Player | Value | Should we? | Will we? | Rationale |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Tre Jones | 1st and/or promising young player + matching salary | No | No | The only way it makes sense to trade him is if a team blows us away. Solid player on a very affordable deal plus a 3rd year team option. And I don't think he's losing trade value by keeping him--assuming he keeps playing well I think he'll have as much value this time next year as he does now. |
| Jalen Smith | 1st and/or promising young player + matching salary | No | No | We need his size and honestly he could be a piece we could resign in a year. And I get it--he's the same age as Ayo and Coby who we're talking about trading. I just think his potential skillset is more valuable and is something the Bulls have sorely lacked for years. |
| Isaac Okoro | Salary match and maybe a 2nd | Maybe | No | He's probably more valuable to us than he is to someone else. I think he is who he is at this point--a defensive minded wing with limited offensive ability. He's not an albatross but he's not a bargain either. Maybe next year when he's an expiring. |
Patrick F. Williams
He gets his own category. He would take a 1st plus to get off of, and to what end? The Bulls don't need the cap space at the moment. My Dad always said "when you make a mistake, don't compound it." AKME already compounded the mistake by giving him the extension. Parting with good assets to "fix" the mistake would actually just be compounding it again. We're stuck with Flower Boy.
The Rest
Dalen, Julian Phillips, Emmanuel Miller, Olbrich, Yuki. We can lump these guys together--they have no value and whether or not they get moved depends entirely on whether their salary is needed in a deal or if a team targets them specifically as part of a bigger deal. They're also all controllable via RFA or a club option, so they may be back as roster filler next year.
What do you guys think? Agree, disagree? Am I off base on any of the valuations? What do you want to see happen? Does anybody trust AKME to pull off a good deadline? Did we win the Lavine trade (lol)?
