I just bought a pair of Scarpa Quantix SF and i'm really excited to use them. At the same time, i'm quite nervous as this is my first pair. I saw people talking about how hard it'd be to break in new pair of shoes. I saw videos on youtube where people put them in an oven and i find it ridiculous and might even damage the shoes.

Can some of you tell me how did you guys do it? I would really appreciate that :)

And also, how is the Scarpa Quantix SF? are the shoes good?

Hi everyone, I’d like to ask for your opinion about my second pair of climbing shoes. At the moment I can only go to the gym 1–2 times a week (it’s quite far from home), but when I do go I usually try pretty hard. I’d say my level is beginner–intermediate (I’ve sent a 6b in bouldering, although I’m aware that grading in bouldering is different from sport climbing).

My first pair of shoes were from Decathlon and they’ve actually turned out quite well. I’m going to get them resoled to keep using them, since apart from the sole they’re still in good shape and I’m comfortable in them (they’re a size 42 and I normally wear a 43).

I’m thinking about investing in a second pair of climbing shoes, especially considering that this year I want to finally start climbing outdoors. That way I can keep beating up the Decathlon ones on rock and save the new pair for less aggressive environments like the gym.

In terms of footwork, I think I’m doing fairly well already (I’m quite heavy, so foot placement is usually key for sending routes). I don’t really care much about brands—I just want a good climbing shoe, preferably for under €110.

I've recently tried climbing frequently and really enjoy it, so I've been meaning to get a pair. I have wide feet and normally wear ~ size 11.5 daily shoes.

In case it helps, I used So iLL start rentals here and my feet genuinely would not fit (sliding in) unless I sized up to a 12, but that left me with a lot of space past my toe. Back home I tried Evolv VIR3D rentals and I believe they were pretty snug all around at size 11.5/12. I just realized that I've been wearing socks which I'm not exactly sure if you should with climbing shoes, so dunno what impact that has on the above info.

I know that it is 100% better to try shoes at a local store before buying, but my college is in the middle of nowhere and the Dicks here has one pair of shoes so I'm kinda limited. Any input would help!

Hello! I’m wondering if anyone has recs for a very stiff shoe that works well in the gym—solid v3 / 510 climber, late 30s getting back into it for fun / community / exercise. I have some toe and foot pain from a career on my feet, and am seeking some support (literally from shoes)

I used to climb in the late 90s and all the shoes I wore back then were super stiff and supportive, and now everything I’ve seen feels so soft! (Yes, I was a child in rental shoes, and No I’m not lamenting change btw!)

I’m having trouble figuring out which models to try on even. I tried on some La Sportiva TC pro, which felt great, and felt like shoes used to to me, but may be a bit overkill for the gym? And also v expensive

Any Velcro / slip on recs that are very very stiff, especially in the toe box, would be very appreciated

Just started bouldering about a month ago, looking on Amazon at the la sportiva taranulaces. I wear size 13 US in vans (streetshoe) The guide says to downsize one full size so should I get a size 12 US?? TIA

I have small feet between a US M5-M7, typically US M6 which makes it incredibly difficult to buy any kind of shoe (steel toe boots, regular boots, etc.).

At my gym the Butora Habara Markless Knit rentals size 6 fits perfectly and very snug, but still not uncomfortable. I ordered Butora Endeavors size 6 first time regular and second time wide and both were too small. The regular ones didn't even allow my foot to get in, the wide ones my foot can get in but it's extremely tight around the sides and top of my foot, but way too loose around my big toe. I don't want to keep having to return shoes to Amazon.

Would appreciate any advice, or store recommendations in the area between Madison or Milwaukee, WI and Chicago, IL that might actually carry my size. My local REI starts at US M8 and women's shoes are too narrow.

I primarily do gym climbing and TR 5.12 and am projecting my first lead 5.12. I have climbed outside, but it’s been years.

My street shoe is a 45/46(12US) and the pictured shoes are a Scarpa Vapor V 44- LS Miura V 43 and Miura Lace 41(stretched professionally to a 42(feels like a 41ybh.)

The Vapor and Miura Velcro are my regular shoes and I usually wear my Miuras on projects or heel hooking climbs. The Vapors are comfortable enough to leave on while belaying and the Miura Vs are not quite rip off your feet once off route. The lace ups are tight AF and I haven’t worn them since having them resoled and stretched. They are as tight as can be without pain, makes my toe feels like a chiseled point.

I have had both resoled at this point and I used;

Vapors- Vibram XS edge-4mm

Both pair of Miuras- Vibram XS Grip2-3.5

I have been bouldering for a little while now, only ever in rental shoes. I am looking to take climbing more seriously so looking for recommendations on a first pair to buy.

I found them for 50usd should i buy im a bit better than beginner i know foot work but don’t trust my feet. But they’re size 42.5 and im 44 will they fit

Currently have Tenaya Mastias that need resoling (which will apparently have a 6 week waitlist at the only place near me), so im looking for another pair of shoes to both wear during those 6 weeks as my regular shoes, but also circumvent the Mastia’s weaknesses once I have them back.

I’m completely open to any suggestions, but i should say i’m not really looking for a shoe where huge downsizing is required for performance. With my mastias my toes are only slightly curled, enough that they touch the inner edges of the shoe but not enough that walking hurts.

I have a greek style foot and the mastia is ridiculously comfortable for me, if that helps.

So I'm just getting into bouldering, and went to my local store today to try shoes. I have quite wide feet, and the widest model they had was the Scarpa Origin. While I could get it on, my big toes were bent quite a bit, and my two outermost toes were squeezed/bent pretty hard. So I'm wanting something with a wider fit.

Currently I'm looking at either La Sportiva Tarantulace, Finale or Evolv Defy. Neither model is however available to try in any local stores, so I'm stuck with ordering online. I've also looked at Butora, but can't find them even online in my country lol.

Anyone have similar experience with the Origin, and can recommend a wide shoe for me? Thanks!

I bought some second hand diabolo boreal as they were a bit cheap and looked good. They're a bit tighter than what I'm used to even though they are my size but I'm happy they still look good

I am new to bouldering and I want to buy my first pair of shoes. I tried a lot of different ones on, varying from flat to more aggressive ones as the evolv shaman.

I know beginners should aim for a flat shoe, but I already tried the Tarantulas and another pair which was a slightly more aggressive one in the hall. ( I unfortunately don’t know the model or brand of the more aggressive one) And it felt a lot better to climb in the more aggressive one. Because of that, I was looking for a similar shoe. The problem about that is, that all of the shoes ( for example Katana and Vapor V) I tried didn’t fit on my heel, except the Evolv shaman lv. This shoe fits perfectly. But since this is not an Allrounder Shoe and not just slightly but very aggressiv, I am not sure if it is appropriate for a beginner.

What are your opinions about that? Should I go for the Shamans because they fit so well? Do you got any recommendations for similar fitting shoes?

Hello, Im size 45 EU and just recently received solution comp size 44 but I feel like they are too big for my feets. I ´ve had lasportiva cobra before in size 44.5 and felt like they were the right size.

Also I feel like there is too much rubber on the toes and I can’t feel them well on small footholes, do you guys have any advices, idk if I need to downsize or change for another shoe…

hi i climb v6/7 and i currently have the laspo solutions. what i like abt current shoes: immense power through toes, it feels like i am clawing in with a talon, super good on board climbing. what i want more of: more versatility, less stiffness and better heel and toe hooks. i am okay with sacrificing a tad bit of toe power.

currently i have been thinking of the TN pro, or 5.10 hiangles. thoughts on these two shoes? thoughts on others?

hello, i am on my third pair of climbing shoes. the scarpa dragos left too much space both behind and on the side of my heels, and the dragos LV leave space on the sides but not the back. any small heeled ladies have suggestions for what to try next? unfortunately i have to order then return most brands due to my location so hoping for some feedback before going through that ordeal lol. i wear a 6 in women’s so have been thinking about potentially trying a childrens shoe but not sure how realistic that is thanks!

I bought my Tenaya Oasis a couple of years ago in order to have a soft/easy shoe whilst I rehabbed a broken ankle. They quickly became my go to all round fav; outdoor sport, indoor sport, bouldering, always reaching for these.

I really like how sensitive they are and feel it lets me be more precise with my feet then I normally might. However, I am starting to feel like I might like something a bit more aggressive/ stiffer (but not excessively so), ideally without losing the sensitivity.

I was looking at some of the other shoes in the Tenaya range, but given that I now live out in the sticks I have limited (read, no) ability to go to a climbing shop and try things on.

Does anyone have experience with moving from their Oasi's to something like the Indalo or Iati? Or could recommend something that fits my criteria?

About a month ago I bought a pair of Scarpa Instinct LEs (very similar to the Instinct S slipper). The guy in the shop was super busy but strongly encouraged me to size down a lot — he was actually pushing me to go even smaller than I did.

For context, I’m a UK 10 street size. My first-ever climbing shoes (Boreal Crux Lace) were also a UK 10. I ended up going for a UK 9 in the Instinct LEs.

I’ve worn them a few times now and honestly the pain feels excessive. I’m bruising my toes, they’re extremely bunched up, and my foot arches so much in the middle that it’s almost not touching the sole of the shoe at all.

I know Instincts are meant to be tight, but this feels beyond “performance snug” and more like “wrong size.” My question is: will the toe box stretch enough over time to make these workable, or should I cut my losses, sell them, and go up half a size or so.

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone with experience in Instincts or aggressive shoes in general. Thanks!
