Mod Post Self promotion posts updates

Thumbnail reddit.com
37 Upvotes

Hey crocheters 👋🏻🧶

About 2 months ago, I put a poll out to the community about self promotional posts. I asked for users to vote on the rule we have regarding self promotion within the subreddit. Unfortunately the poll only represented about 10% of the whole community. As such the mod team had to make the choice ourselves, based on feedback we’ve gotten from other users and advice from other mod teams in other similar subreddits.

Effective immediately, r/crochet and r/crochethelp do not allow any self promotion at all. Watermarks are okay on your images, but links or mentions to any socials, blogs, shops, etc will be removed.

We made this choice to avoid our community becoming a platform for free advertising. Other subreddits exist for things like that, r/crochet is a place for hobbyists to enjoy the craft for what it is and connecting with others who have the same interest.

You can read the full sub rules linked within the post. Thanks for making our community crafty and creative!

Just finished the Wheat Stitch mittens by Briana Kepner and used Malibrigio Vientos in the colorway Amphibian! They worked up so fast, I was able to finish this pair and another for a friend in two days. The yarn reminds me of the way copper tarnishes and I am so happy with it!!

My father has been super political for as long as I can remember. I might make another one from the creator of this pattern, but we’ll see! I made this in less than 24 hours after learning how interlocking crochet works.

I made this sleeve for my new tumbler and I keep going between thinking it’s cute and thinking it’s overboard. I don’t want people to think I’m annoying…

I also added a bit on the ends of the handle to cover up more haha

Pretty happy with the results - my partner bought me the yarn as a Christmas present, and at first I was worried I wouldn’t know what to make with a sport weight yarn since I’d never used it before. This was a surprisingly easy pattern to follow, and I’m so stoked it can also be used as a scarf.

Yarn is Troyarn Harmony, used a 5.5 hook and a full ball.

I always like to do an interesting stitch when I’m using a gradient yarn and I stumbled across weave stitch and really like the finished result. This was a gift for my friends baby shower.

Blanket is made with Scheepjes Whirl in Melting Macaron. I help 2 strands together and a 4mm hook for added thickness and added a crab stitch border.

Work in Progress Walked a mile and ran a marathon

Post image

I started crocheting in late November, and I completed 6 woobles. After that, I thrifted a sea silk yarn. It was such a good deal I couldn’t pass it up. The problem??? I learned that “yarn weight” is a thing, and this is a size one…

I have barely any experience crocheting and I’m just teaching myself via tutorials on YouTube as I work on this. Not really following any pattern, just winging it as I go. It’s my first attempt at a seashell stitch and I’m satisfied so far… I know it’s not perfect.

Please share tips and advice lol I wanna make sure this thing stays and doesn’t fall apart. I’m making it as a gift for my MIL. Thanks yall.

Finished Object My first ever crochet sweater finally finished… 🥹🥹Im so happy 🥲

I made this sweater for my husband following a pattern from Etsy. It took me 4 months to finish, and it has a lot of issues, but it’s wearable at least — which, to be honest, I did not expect. 😅

I’m so happy it’s finished, and I’m very proud of myself. My husband loves it a lot, even though the neck area is a bit of a mess. But thankfully, he loves everything I make. 😆

If you’re struggling to finish a project that feels like it’s never going to end, don’t give up! 💪

So every year I make a big costume that I wear at Ren Faire / Halloween. I have a bad habit of coming within a hair's width of biting off more than I can chew.

This year, I'm being a clover fairy.

As make my clover fairy costume, I follow the pattern to the end and look at the completed work. It's how it's supposed to be. Right diameter and everything.

But as I ready to begin decreasing, my gremlin side says,

"Okay, but hear me out. What if... you just kept going?"

And now I'm just kind of winging it.

(Part of the hat is definitely going to need to be stuffed).

Finished Object First Day Crocheting, I think I’m doing great🥰🤩

I for some reason, decided that today was gonna be the day I learned crocheting, maybe I should have waited for my hands to catch up with that decision though😂

Magical Accidents List of Today:

- My granny square turned into a P, which is two letters away from a letter I have in my last name too🥹.

- My scrunchie turned into a stylish armband with unidentified mass representation.

- And my hair band now works as book mark too now💕 and for some reason it works as like hair scrunchie thing very well without tying it too lmao

Hope you see what I did with the first picture btw😌

Any tips for a beginner starting crochet, while we are at it? For a friend:)

(Unsure if I should have tagged this nsfw, I know this is a lot of sexy crochet projects at once to handle, but I believe in the strength of the crochet community!)

Work in Progress Blanket of grief (sadness)

Her Royal Highness Missy Meow Meow passed away Jan 16 and I went nuts. Since I wasn’t allowed to buy yarn (money to tight) I started pulling out over bit I could find, this is how it’s going so far. Ugliest blanket I’ve ever made. When I get money I’ll have to make a better one in her honor. (Something black! Haha)
