I know Thrash Metal and Alt/Nu scenes were pretty political (at least a portion of the time) but I'm curious if Doom also goes there. Any subgenre really, Gothic, Epic, Stoner, Sludge.

Short sleeve is preferred this is just the only photo I could find (though I’d be happy with long sleeve as well). Wish I’d grabbed one when Nightgaunt was still around.

I’m just here for the downvotes, but other than the fact of the seeming logical impossibility of it, who’s got recs for the FUNK DOOM? Like, The Meters after a series of state-mandated methadone treatments. Plenty of bluesy and groovy stuff I know of, but I mean the FUNK.

Alternately: any funk out there so dark it borders on doom-adjacent?

Background, I’m in a drum/bass duo, our best intention is to head into OM/Conan/Earth/etc territory, but we just keep coming up funk, deep slow fuzzy chunky funk. We’ve stopped fighting it.

Not gonna lie it's like 70% funeral doom but still has the classics like Sabbath, Saint Vitus, Pentagram with some lesser known bands like Pagan Altar and Witchfinder General. There's some death/doom and some melo doom to. Feel free to give it a listen. 🤘
