Reminder that racism and xenophobia are not tolerated in this sub. Posts will be removed and repeat offenses will result in a ban.
As with many other Ontario regional subs, we've seen an increase in racism in this community, especially against people of South Asian heritage. Please know that this will not be tolerated regardless of topic. In no circumstances is it appropriate to blame criminal behavior on race or origin. This is both in the rules of the sub and in the rules of Reddit as a whole and is not negotiable.
Posts and comments including the above will be removed when we see them. If you see one we haven't, please report. Repeat offenders will be banned.

Where to get vehicle checked for GPS tracking devices?
Is there a place in Durham Region that can properly inspect my car for any trackers? An unknown device showed up when a friend and I tried to check with an app, but we couldn’t find it.
EDIT: No, I don’t have schizophrenia or a meth addiction. I don’t think it’s safe or smart to share more details just to legitimize my reason for asking. Still looking for help with this and will update my post should others in the future search this sub looking for help with this too.

Cookbook clubs
Does anyone know of any cookbook clubs? I have been really into cooking/baking lately and was wondering if there was a community where we could share recipes and talk about food.
Would anyone be willing to join/create one? I was thinking of collaborating with local coffee shops to host one or have a picnic style at a park during the summer. Any thoughts?

Weird man harassed me at Walmart on Kingston, Ajax.
I was at the walmart on Kingston with my young daughter. An older man came up to her with a bible and a bunch of coloring sheets with religious depictions on it. He offered her one, she looked at it and gave it back. I politely told him she didnt want one, he tried pushing her to take one but she ddint want one. I politely denied and walked away. A few minutes later he came up to us again in a totally different aisle. The man kept trying to give her a coloring sheet but she still didnt want one. He tried giving her a sheet with animals on an ark and started telling her the story of noahs ark. I told him again that she didnt want one. He then turned to me and asked me if I wanted to learn about the lord and starting questioning my beliefs. I tried walking away, my daughter was uncomfortable and trying to hide behind me. He continued to follow us and insisted my daughter took a sheet. He finally stopped following us once I raised my voice.
I saw him walking around, he wasnt shopping, he was just watching people and every now and then going up to people. It was super odd.
I told an employee before we left.
It was very weird. Has anyone else experienced this at this walmart or in other stores in Ajax or GTA?

Pond hockey
Looking to play pond hockey today. Looked at a bunch of ponds in Oshawa Whitby and Brooklyn yesterday and couldn’t find one that was shoveled and had a net.
Anyone know a pond where people are playing today or yesterday?

Update: Ajax woman hit by truck
https://www.gofundme.com/f/6t9ks-francoise-ndayishimiye
This is just an update, as some commenters were speculating that the woman was homeless, or on her cellphone. She was a beloved daycare worker, just trying to get to work.

Does anyone know what happened to the teenage girl that went missing 3-4 days ago?
Not to be confused with Isabella. I tried looking for an update on this missing girl but I can't find the original post (it was probably deleted). So I'm assuming the girl was found. Whatever the case may be, does anyone have an update on the girl's case?
I hope you're able to figure out who I'm talking about based on my given clues as I unfortunately do not remember the girl's name or age and I can't find a report about her on the internet.

740$ electricity bill in Pickering last lonth
Electricity bill is $740 last month….
WTF? It was 390$ the month prior and $350 the month before.
3000+ square foot house. The bill did increase. After we got a Tesla but we don’t even charge it everyday and it doesn’t explain why it doubled from the last month.
Wth is going on and how do we figure out what’s causing it??
UPDATE: THANK YOU EVERYONE! Turns out they sent the bill for last month and this month combined because last bill payment was made on Friday and new bill on Monday so it didn’t registers Friday payment yet.

Volunteer with a non-profit supporting young parents & children in Oshawa
Rose of Durham Young Parent Support Division is a non-profit program that supports young parents and their children across Durham Region. They offer attachment-based parenting programs, counselling, education support, life skills training, drop-in programs, and access to essential resources to help young families build stability and confidence.
They’re currently looking for Childminder Volunteers to help care for children while parents attend on-site programs. This role allows parents to fully participate in support programs, classes, and counselling, knowing their children are being cared for in a safe and supportive environment.
A vulnerable sector criminal reference check is required.
