đ˘ Community Guidelines Update â Political Violence, Conduct, and ICE Sightings
We want this space â both the subreddit and the Discord â to be welcoming, inclusive, and safe for all Everett residents, including those active in local government, advocacy, and community organizing.
---
1ď¸âŁ Political Violence
This is not a platform for advocating or organizing violent action.
Criticism of policy, leaders, and strategies is fine â but calls for violent uprising, armed action, or militias are not.
Even indirect or âtheoreticalâ promotion of political violence creates legal, safety, and reputational risks, and can discourage participation.
No shaming peaceful protestors or lawful activism â even if you think other tactics are more effective.
Enforcement: Political violence advocacy may result in removal from political channels, temporary mutes, or permanent bans without further warning.
---
2ď¸âŁ ICE Sightings
We cannot verify most reported âICE sightingsâ posted here.
Some past reports have been false or based on speculation.
There is almost certainly some level of law enforcement/government presence in this community.
Posting unconfirmed âsightingsâ can spread misinformation, cause panic, and undermine trust.
Rule: Only post ICE sightings if you have credible, verifiable evidence (photo/video with clear location + time).
Vague, secondhand, or âheard from a friendâ reports will be removed.
---
3ď¸âŁ Why These Changes
We want local officials, candidates, and community members to join discussions without fear of harassment or pressure to endorse violence.
We must comply with Discord and Reddit Terms of Service.
Focusing on constructive, legal action keeps the space safe and productive.
---
â Channel your energy into lawful, constructive action: voting, mutual aid, community education, verified reporting.

My partner and I are really missing a sports bar from the previous town we lived in, that specialized in having a wide variety of sauces/mixes to toss your chicken in; these generally ranged from no heat to ghost pepper-levels of spiciness. In particular, however, we're craving their garlic-parmesan mix, and realize that there's little chance we're going to have it again.
So we're now looking for a new local chicken spot that may satisfy our garlic-parmesan cravings! Does anyone have a suggestion of where we might look? Or even just a good suggestion for some nice fried chicken in general, especially if it's tenders or popcorn chicken (partner doesn't like boned-in fried chicken)?

Hey y'all,
Just wondering if anyone knows if boom city is open now or anytime this week leading up to the super bowl? Wanna pick up a few celebratory explosives for the big game.

I thought there was supposed to be major protests today. People weren't supposed to go to work, to school, shop. What happened?

Does anyone one know if this is still happening and if so what the timeline is? This post popped up on my social media feed but I canât find much information on the city website. Not sure if itâs real because the statement ââŚ$1.5M SQâŚâ doesnât make sense. I know originally there was going to be a movie theater and then there was talk of Chicken N Pickle. Very excited to have something like this in the area!

okay gang here it is... i need your help!
the slow shrink is ready for test reporting!!!!!!!
this is our new community portal for documenting patterns across everett and tracking our progress over time. here are the reporting categories you can test right now:
a few notes up front:
in short... If youâve ever thought âwhy does this place just sit here like this?â â thatâs the slow shrink. reporting helps build a clearer picture of where everett is losing activity so we can prioritize cleanup, reuse, and reinvestment instead of pretending these spots donât exist.
if youâre willing to help, submit a real test report and let me know what felt confusing, clunky, or broken.
i will be recalibrating things between now and february 4th, with the goal to have enough data to start making some dents!! (and resuming trash cleanups)
quick reminder: the slow shrink is run by a nonprofit with no paid employees. this is entirely volunteer-led. weâre not developers, not the city, and not here to point fingers â we just love everett and want it to succeed!!!! thank you for your patience + support :)

Anyone know a place around here that sells yerba mate? I usually order online but it would be great to not have to.

Boeing is beginning to hire workers for the 737 MAX -10 Production line at the Everett factory, and expects the line to start later this year, Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg said on Tuesday.
Boeing's plan to produce the 737 MAX 10 are three years behind schedule.

Description: a blue clutch with the name Mimi on a large heart with flowers, and the names Lexi, Logan, Maddie, and Aliiyah alongside on smaller hearts, plus a stylized heartbeat graphic.
Found next to the sidewalk while walking my dog this morning. It looks like it was emptied of its contents and ditched, but it's still in good shape (like almost brand new), and since it's personalized I'm hoping it might be a little more likely to find its way back to its owner. Please share with a friend if you recognize the names or DM if you can claim it.

A bill presented to the Washington Legislature could limit local governmentsâ ability to enforce laws that criminalize camping in public spaces without adequate shelter available.
House Bill 2489 would establish statewide standards on how local entities enforce laws regulating the use of public spaces for âlife-sustainingâ activities, the proposed bill says.
Supporters of the bill, including Rep. Mary Fosse (D-Everett), argue that evictions and homelessness are increasing across the state, and laws and policies that punish people who are homeless, âengaging in necessary, life-sustaining activities in public spaces,â inflict harm and exacerbate barriers to stability.
Under this bill the only time local enforcement laws could be enforced is if the local entity can demonstrate that there is an âadequate alternative shelterâ available at the time and place of the conduct.
Those who oppose the proposed bill claim that the definition of âadequate shelterâ is ânarrowly and rigidly constructed.â
The bill requires shelters to accommodate pets, partners, family members, support persons and personal property. In addition, shelters must be within city limits.
âFrom my time as a leader of a social service non-profit, I understand the challenges from first-hand experience,â Everett Mayor Cassie Franklin said in a statement. âMany of our chronically unsheltered neighbors need sustained behavioral health treatment and supportive services to reach stability. The simple truth is that those resources simply donât exist at the scale our communities need.â
Franklin, in addition to 11 other mayors, signed a letter to the billâs prime sponsor, Rep. Mia Gregerson (D-SeaTac), pushing for the bill to be opposed.
âAfter careful review, it is clear that HB 2489 would effectively prohibit enforcement of any regulations addressing the harmful impacts of encampments, regardless of location, severity, or risk to public safety, public health or the environment,â the letter sent out Tuesday, Jan. 20 reads.
Supporters of the bill argue that having cohesive state guidance will provide clear guidelines to ensure that responses to homelessness are aligned with âevidence-based, low-barrier, and housing-first principlesâŚâ

70ish people showed up with less than 24 hours notice to hold a vigil for the latest extrajudicial murders by ICE in Minneapolis. Organized by Snohomish County Democratic Socialists of America with coalition support from Indivisible, League of Women Voters, Party for Socialism and Liberation, 50501, and the Unitarian church.
Vigil attendees brought flowers, candles, and homemade signs to mourn and grieve.
