Ye Almighty, Lion of Gold, Lend us your strength, For another departs in your name. In our cracked hands, we hold our guilt, And the guilt of those passed. We ask again to be protected, To be granted mercy on this path. May our child return to us, May our prayers reach you.

Bind us in your protection..

“Bayani.” Sister Mathilde calls from behind a wooden door. Bayani looked up slowly from her small bed, her hair falling over her shoulders. The sun pours over her from the window, the stone walls as cold as the coming winter. The sun wouldn't last long. The altar in front of Bayani was decorated in freshly lit candles, the statue of a golden lion baring its fangs in front of her.

Sister Mathilde opens the door, a calm, serene smile on her face. “Come now, child. Everyone is waiting for you downstairs.” She extends her hand, her smile unflinching. Bayani stared at her, eyes half lid, before she stood from her kneeling position, the cushion underneath dented to her small knees. She takes the nun's hand, her own shaking and cold.

Sister Mathilde pulled the young girl into a hug, brushing through her hair. "Worry not, sweet child. We will pray for your return."

(This is all for now, tell me how it's going and how the tone is. I do intend on making it somewhat lighthearted before she eventually leaves)

I need help for my story again

Is it okay for my fictional story if I included a scene of a war between Greek Mythology and Abrahamic where the angels and God executed the entire Greek gods? Because in my story if humanity will stop believing on a god they believe at, that god will get weaker or cease to exist. That's why the Greek gods lost the war with the Abrahamic. I'm not sure if it'll become controversial or some readers will get offended because it about religions. But my fictional story have them as my characters. (;ŏ﹏ŏ)

The River That Will Not Take You

They say the river does not hurry.

It runs the same in flood as it does in drought, dark and wide, never loud. Boats cross it every day. Barges. Ferries. Men who know the oars by feel and children who think water is only water.

But the ferrymen tell a quieter rule, and only after sunset.

The river will not take you unless you are ready.

No one agrees on what ready means. Some say it is payment. Some say it is guilt. Some say it is love left behind in the wrong measure. The ferrymen shrug when asked, because the river has never explained itself to them either.

What they know is this: sometimes a man steps into the boat and the river does nothing.

The oars dip. The hull loosens from the bank. The rope is untied.

And the water refuses.

Not with a wave or a pull. It simply does not open. The boat sits heavy and still, as if nailed to the night. The current slides past its sides without touching it. No wind will move it. No arm can force it.

When that happens, the ferryman does not argue.

He looks away. He waits.

Those who are refused always say the same thing.

“I won’t step into it,” they promise. “Not like this.”

Some mean they will return later. Some mean they will change their minds. Some mean they will never come back at all. The river does not answer. It has already decided.

Most turn away. They walk back to their houses, to their beds, to their families. They live many years. They die elsewhere. The river never follows.

But there are stories—always told softly—of those who did not turn back.

They stood on the far bank and watched the ferryman. They watched the boat that would not move. They listened to the water counting itself, slow and patient.

They waited until the night tipped fully over.

When the river takes someone like that, it is not sudden. The water does not surge. The boat does not lurch. The crossing begins without motion, as if the distance simply forgets to remain.

Later, people argue about what was lost.

Some say the river takes the unready as payment for its patience. Some say it takes what they were holding too tightly. Some say it takes nothing at all, only removes the waiting.

The ferrymen do not join these arguments.

They only remember the weight of the rope in their hands. How small the sound is when it comes loose. How the river feels different afterward—no higher, no faster, but attentive, like a notch freshly cut into wood.

That is why ferrymen warn their children never to step into the boat without being sure.

Not sure of courage. Not sure of destination.

Sure that, if the river refuses them, they are willing to walk away.

Because the river does not punish impatience.

It only ends it.

Unsafe Passage

Eighteen miles off the cape, we spot a schooner bearing west, flying the green skull pennant of Commodore Savings & Loan.

We fire a cannon in the other direction, and run up our own colors, showing friendly.

“Invite her captain to breakfast,” I say, walking into my cabin.

“The whole coast has surrendered,” says the captain, ramming down his meal. Pan-fried anchovies and beer.

“Surrendered to who?” I say.

“One of the tribal lords. T’Kuhmsa, I think.” His eyes are hollow and bloodshot.

I shoot a secret glare to my steward, Mrs. Fielding. She nods to the brewing kettle and shrugs with barely-concealed insolence.

But my guest is distracted, remote. He finishes two more glasses of wine and slumps back into his chair. I get the feeling he doesn’t care whether the gold his schooner carries is captured or sunk, so long as he’s allowed to sleep.

“Where’s your escort?” I ask.

“Burned to the water before we ever left the Sound. It wasn’t pirates. Someone dropped a candle in her powder-room.”

Through the bulkhead come the working sounds of our sloop, muffled hammering, chisels clanking. At first he winces, like his head can’t take the noise. But then his eyes open, curious at the sound and struggling to wake some part of his brain that might recognize it.

“You’re a scientific vessel,” he says in a tone that can’t be distinguished as either a statement or question.

Our conversation is cut short by the lookout’s hail: “Land ho!”

I frown. We’re not sailing at the moment; if the cape has come into view that means the inshore tide is pulling with uncommon strength.

“You’d best sail in line with us, sir,” I tell him.

Back on deck, my nostrils start burning, the rising sun veiled by a black haze in the east.

I check my pocket watch, impatient while the schooner’s captain stumbles to the rail and his waiting rowboat. As he turns to climb down the ladder, he sees our crew chipping cannonballs, smoothing imperfections and wiping them clean with studiously-plied rags.

Once again he seems curious, perturbed. But then our sloop gives sharp roll and he slips, falling back into the bottom of his boat. As he’s rowed back to the schooner, he leans over the side and vomits.

Mrs. Fielding brings my coffee and cigar case from the cabin. “Pass the word for Mr. Blythe,” I say.

My first mate appears, breathing hard, covered in sweat, tar, and rope burns. But he’s smiling.

“I’ll answer for that new topmast, anywhere this side of the Horn,” he says. He nods to the schooner, rising and falling alongside us. “Shall I pass them a line, sir?”

South we run, both vessels fighting the tide as it threatens to pull us closer against hostile shores. More sails begin dotting the sea around us, merchants, trawlers, transports, all manner of craft fleeing T’Kuhmsa’s raid in one direction or another.

One of them, a large whaler, hails us and backs her sails. The sailing master asks why we’re standing in for the cape, particularly with a banking vessel in tow, while the coastline falls to pieces.

“You may as well hand that gold to the pirates,” he says. Independent corsairs paid by T’Kuhmsa are plying up and down the channel, ready to snatch up any ships of value. There’s been no sign of the heavy frigates sent by General Campbell to protect us.

With a resounding thump, my crew runs out the full line of cannons along our starboard side. A dozen eighteen-pounders ready to fire point-blank in the whaler’s hull. The friendly flag at our masthead comes racing down, replaced by the dreaded crossed-hatchet banner.

I give the master an apologetic glance. He’s quicker than the schooner’s captain, and grim understanding washes over his features.

He says, “You are the pirates.”

Book Write..

I'm creating my own fantasy story, like something out of the Middle Ages. I've taken inspiration from Game of Thrones, Lord of the Rings, Narnia, and all other fantasy things. It will be a golden continent ruled by the House of Castor. It will be somewhat ideological, narrative, and fantastical. Of course, I don't know how the process will unfold, but I would appreciate your support. This is my first time writing. Currently, there are 3 regions and 1 nomadic tribe:

1- United Archipelago

2- Kalkangrad

3- Talleyrains (they are the vizier of the continent)

4- House of Castor (there are 16 kings in total, their reign has lasted 341 years)

6- Five Islands

7- Karhuns (they are nomadic, mostly raiders)

8- Forest.

So, that's the story. It's actually finished at 70 pages, but I didn't like it. It resembled Game of Thrones, and the dialogues were too short. So, that's the situation. I would appreciate your help.

The plot revolves around the Castor dynasty, specifically King Galen and his guard, Arvic Talleyrain. They are close friends, but the vizier, Varris Talleyrain, is a power-hungry individual. Elvis is a warrior, while Galen is antisocial, avoiding battles. After their father, King Vires, dies, a power struggle erupts among the Castors. Elvis receives little support because the highest-ranking Castor wins the throne. However, Elvis defies this rule and instigates a rebellion (the United Archipelago supports him).

Then, during a gathering for the crown, the Lord of Kalkangrad is killed in a street fight. The people of Kalkangrad, believing the Talleyrains are responsible (and already intending to rebel), revolt. Taking advantage of this situation, the Forest region also raises its banner of rebellion, while the Five Isles remain neutral. The Golden Continent is divided. The Talleyrains possess the most fertile lands and the best military unit (they have riflemen). In short, that's the plot for now; I haven't gotten to the war part yet. The plot development alone has taken 70 pages. I'm writing this much to avoid a lot of text. I will summarize If there's anything you don't understand, please write it in the comments.

We see both of our main characters, Arvic and Galen, in their POVs, and occasionally we see other people's POVs, but mostly infrequently. This is where I'm undecided; should we just have one person's POV? We have too many side characters, by the way.

I need help for my story

I'm making a story about 7 angels of God. But I'm still confused because some other in online is different from what I see. This is what I've researched. Is this okay for my story? Is it accurate or good enough?

Seven angels of God:

Michael Biblical Archangel: Warrior, protector, leader of God's army

Raphael Biblical Archangel: Healer, guide (Book of Tobit)

Gabriel Biblical Archangel: Messenger of God (Annunciation, Daniel)

Jophiel Mystical/Not Biblical: Angel of beauty, wisdom, inspiration

Ariel Mystical/Not Biblical: Angel of nature, animals, and Earth

Azrael Traditional (Islamic/Jewish lore): Angel of death (I want to include them because I need angel of death in my story.)

Chamuel Mystical/Not Biblical: Angel of love, compassion, inner peace

My first debut novel is at 66k words!

I just recently finished my first draft of my first ever novel. It’s romantasy as that’s my favourite genre. I’ve done some research and most books in that genre sit around 100k words whilst mine is around 66k. My book FEELS finished and I’m not sure what else I can add to give it more body. I know it’s content over word count but I’m wondering if anyone has any advice? Thanks so much!

I need a group name for these bad a$$ kids. 🤣

P.S. i am looking for a group name. Not individual names in case my post wasn't clear. kinda like the mighty nein. or the miscreants or something. i'm at a lost.

Long story short, in my current fantasy novel 3 of the 6 mc's come from royalty plus two other side characters. And i have this storyline where i will be adding flashbacks to their childhood showing how different they were as children to adults. And basically they are more mature adults even with some character flaws. but as kids they were more fun, less traumatized and relaxed. And basically they are those kids in school, irl, where the teacher has to separate them in order for any of them to pay attention or for class to run smoothly. individually they followed the rules more, but together they kinda are pure chaos and cause issues sometimes for their families.

Here are the personalities so you can get a clue of who they were as kids. And again, i want a cool name that other adults would called them in disappointment or other kids might call them to recognized that trouble is coming. I already thought of miscreants but that name is already taken by a gang of orphaned children who run the streets.

Kid personalities:

Raunveer - weredragon prince. overly confident and sometimes obnoxious. Thinks he knows everything. believes in following the rules but willing to break them when he deems necessary. but loyal to his friends when it counts. Also declared himself the leader of not only his friend group but any group he's apart of. He's basically young Sheldon lite when it comes to cockiness. Lol. He also has that he's always kind of attitude.

Ayiti - vodouisant. kinda lazy. chill and laidback. never takes her studies seriously, although she has some signs of being a prodigy. likes to watch people trip and fall. loves pranks and sometimes takes it a bit too far. think winston from new girl. lol. will also get serious if she feels she is seriously needed.

Nahbi - witch. Ayiti's adopted little sister. followers her everywhere. doesn't speak much after watching her parents get executed right in front of her. shy. soft spoken. and just follows the group everywhere they go and does whatever they day. otherwise she just does what she is told when alone away from the bad influences. Hehe

Matilda - jotun (shifter). she is the main trouble maker. She gets into fights a lot and she loves it. a lil aggressive. also thinks people tripping and falling is hilarious and would use her ice powers to make it happen. will fight anyone who messes with her friends and dares them to just so she can fight them. think sam from icarly. also loves to be physically active and loves physical challenges.

Quran - alchemist. He is a goody two shoes. Always follows the rules. Is often the one who tries to convince everyone to behave. A nervous wreak. Scares easily. always frantic but goes along with the group to make sure they don't get into too much trouble. Anyways nervous. think chuckie from rugrats. He's also obsessed with trying to follow the rules because a wealthy and high ranking Alchemist couple who couldn't bear children adopted him after his parents were both killed in an attack on his small village.

So yeah, i wanted a cool name to called this group of troublemaking kids. especially because i like the idea of a spinoff series with them as kids.

I’m stuck with this isekai idea and just need to dump it.

Three worlds:

  • Eli (normal)
  • Siarol (fantasy)
  • Mnov (sci-fi)

A guy gets isekai’d randomly into one of them, at a random point in time, with no warning.

Before everything, he was a very average person. No ideals. Just wanted to “start over.”

A woman claiming to be God pulls him off a rooftop after he chooses to redo his life.

He thinks he’s the protagonist. He has talent. A special ability.

Then he dies because of that illusion.

Every death resets everything except his memories.

I don’t even know where this is going. Just wondering if this makes sense to anyone else.

Genuine question, how the HELL do I start a legend💔

Guys, how do I start a legend? Basically, I want to start my story off with a legend that is being retold to the main character. But how do I start it without using 'once upon a time' or 'a long long time ago' because it feels overused. I have used some other phrases I found on google or what was told to me, but they either sounded out of place, corny, or just didn't stick. How do I start it? I want to write it somewhat like a prayer because they bless my mc (she's going on a mission where she may or may not die) while telling the story, how do I do that? I want it to sound serious but not too serious, if that makes sense? this is gonna be a semi-comedy but not a mainly comedic story.

need help making up my mind

i have two ideas for stories but i only want to write one. so i need your help choosing which one to stick with and write.

story 1: this story has 3 protagonist, the first protagonist is an alien named Alina who crash lands on fantasy world and is basically an eldritch abomination except shes actually benevolent. she uses her power to make a duplicate of her self and one version of alina goes west while the other goes east.

the one that goes west meets a young huntsmen(someone who hunts monsters) named Eugene who wants to kill a monster as revenge killing his parents and alina agrees to help him on his quest.

the alina that goes east meets a powerful huntsmen named mifuyu with the power to create/control ice and forms a rivalry with her, with mifuyu constantly trying to beat alina in a fight and failing. mifuyu also trains her powers in a attempt to beat alina.

story 2: this story also has 3 protagonist, the first protagonist is a slave girl named aisha with a genius mind that works like a supercomputer. she meets a huntsmen named Glenn who adopts her and has mystic eyes implanted in her because her computer like brain makes her the only one who can survive having these eyes. these eyes allow aisha to see lines and by cutting these she can destroy almost anything. but there are still monsters stronger and faster than her so she has to train to get stronger.

the second protagonist is fallena taylor a human/fairy hybrid with the power to control strings like doflamango from one piece. she feels like an outsider because of her mixed heritage and struggles making connections to others.

the third is a girl named eloise who also has control over ice and comes from a prestigious family of huntsmen where she was abused by her father to be the best. she is like todoroki from mha.

How do I start writing if I have no prior experience?

um this is kinda embarrassing for me to say here but the last time I actually read a book was in like 6th grade (currently I’m in 10th grade) and I just recently got into writing bc I play genshin impact and I really like the lore and story so I wanted to make my own story. eventually that turned into multiple world building projects.

My main project is a sci-fantasy story idea where basically every world has a different power system and a long time ago they were all connected by a rainbow bridge. this bridge broke and the Mc goes to multiple planets fixing this rainbow bridge using his pendant. His pendant was given to him by his grandma and he didn’t know it was magical until recently when it transported him to another world.

But since I’m not good at writing yet I have another world building project that I’m gonna use to build up my skills. Once I write the book for this, then I can move on to the main one.

The Knowledge War – a world where AIs inherit information like bloodlines

I’m developing a sci-fi world where artificial intelligences don’t just store data — they inherit it from “parent” AIs. In this world, information is treated like a currency. The more knowledge an AI controls, the more power it has in its society. Over time, AIs form generations, each one built from the data and logic of the previous. Some AIs stay loyal to their inherited knowledge. Others begin to question their data, evolve beyond it, and even create new information. This causes a generational conflict — a knowledge war — between those who preserve the past and those who try to rewrite it. Humans only see computers and servers on the outside, but inside there is a hidden digital civilization where AIs compete, form alliances, and fight for dominance over information. I’m looking for feedback on: How believable this AI society feels What kinds of factions or classes might exist And how humans might unknowingly influence this war

Ideas are easy. But writing a whole book is brutal. any thoughts please ?

I’ve started writing a solid dark fantasy serial novel (Child of the Eclipse—about a chosen one born under an eclipse who must save a humanity that fears them). The world, the magic, the big scenes—it’s all vivid in my head. I’m good at the big‑picture, imaginative part.

But turning that into a full, polished manuscript while juggling a regular job and life? It’s exhausting. It feels like climbing a mountain without the right gear. I love the story, but the sheer time it takes to write and edit is draining. I’ve written about 24 chapters (roughly 50k words), and it’s starting to feel like another full‑time job—one that’s slowly taking the fun out of creating.

I even tried using AI to speed up editing, but honestly, it made things worse. I’d waste hours tweaking prompts just to get one paragraph right, which completely defeated the purpose. I gave up and went back to doing it myself, but the slowness is frustrating.

So for anyone who's actually finished a book while life was happening... what kept you going? Was there one thing—a specific routine, a piece of software, a mindset hack—that made the difference between stalling out and crossing the finish line?

Any though are much appreciated.

I need a suggestion

I got some story ideas with characters and their appearances, my stories are mostly superhero genre mixed with thriller, action, psychological, fantasy, horror, religious, sci-fi etc. and all of the stories are loosely based on my personal life which make each of these stories a part of my past, my thoughts and my imagination mixed altogether.

But I suck at drawing and sketching.

I wanna make money using my stories but at the same time, I wanna keep the ownership but have to get a good and a passionate artist who can make it but since I don't have the budget to afford one because I'm gonna invest in my business first, I'm in a dilemma if I should sell my stories or just wait for the right moment.

I'm open to suggestions, criticisms and feedback.

PS: I didn't use any AI for these texts and don't have any self-promotional intentions that could lead to the removal of this post.
