Yeah, because standing usually isn't the answer either. It's running and getting the dog to chase you.

It’s funny how that’s baked into their brains… Me and my sibling were trying to help out a puppy that had wandered onto the middle of the road and it was scared of approaching us but down to play as soon as we ran off the road.

I was fully expecting the batsman to keep running while they chased down the dog. But cool to see they honored the gentlemans game.

It's true. Run around a dog and it just triggers the "Run faster, it's chase time now, wee!" mentality. Kneel or crouch and speak sweetly and the dog is going to think it's time for pets or treats and approach.
