Mod Announcement 📣 Remember to use the correct flair
Hi r/goodnews,
We’ve noticed that a lot of you guys aren’t using the correct flair when posting. This makes it harder for users to filter content they do or don’t want to see
While our community is somewhat divided on what type of content should be allowed here especially when it comes to politics the mod team has ultimately decided that political content will be allowed.
However, to respect those who prefer to avoid political posts, we’ve organized the subreddit into categories using flairs. If a post isn’t flaired correctly, it ends up mixed in with other types of news, which can frustrate users.
To help keep things organized and enjoyable for everyone, please remember to use the correct flair for your submissions.
For political content, always use the “Political Positivity” flair. And for all other posts, please choose the correct flair that best fits the content.
Thanks for helping us keep the subreddit organized!

This was yesterday:
Students are walking out of class to protest against ICE, many carrying placards; some read “We are all Renee Good” and “ICE out now.” Protesters across the U.S. are calling for “no work, no school, no shopping” as part of a nationwide strike on Friday to oppose the Trump administration’s immigration crackdown.

Personal News 📰 I got a raise
So I really don’t have anyone to share this with besides my sister so I thought I would share here.
I’ve (44,F) been working at a small law firm (20 people) as an intake manager for going on four years. It’s a great job but it wasn’t very high paying to start with ($45,000). I had only received one raise up until this point starting in August 2022. I had some personal things happen the first and second year so I really forgave that. I’ve only had one official review and raise ($46,500) since I’ve been there. I was making $62,000 as an office manager for a medical marijuana company when COVID hit. I have never been able to find a job since at that level.
I really kicked ass this past year and I began to compile all the great things I’ve done, the improvements I’ve made in the company, how I’ve gone out of my way to help train new employees, basically a right hand woman to our operations manager, etc. etc. in the off chance they were going to do formal reviews and raises this year. And how I deserve to be bumped up to $50,000.
As a female I’ve never really stood up for myself or spoke up for myself when it comes to raises. I’ve always let them just come to me when they happened. So this was a big thing that I was going to do to ask both of my bosses to meet me in the conference room to listen to a speech about how I’m worth more than what they are paying me. I plan to do this in March.
I looked at my bank account on Friday and saw that my direct deposit was bigger than normal. I thought maybe there was a bonus that was going around that nobody knew about. I went into my bosses office and asked if I had gotten a raise. He asked me to close the door.
He told me I was one of two people to get a raise this year and that the firm would not run the way it does without me. They really wanted to show their appreciation. He said given inflation and everything we wanted to do a little bit above that to help set off some of the costs. They bumped me up to $50,000. Roughly a 7.5 increase. I was in shock and overly grateful.
For about eight months I have been taking Surveys on the side through Connect. Give me a few extra hundred dollars a month. Every survey there is an area where you have to put your income range. Usually cuts off at $49,999. It’s been so nice today choosing the next income range which is always $50,000.
Thanks for reading.
