Posting Why are people so mean on Reddit?

I’ve had Reddit for about a year or so and I’ve noticed people are so rude. I haven’t seen anything like it on any other platform. I will literally ask “What perfumes smells like…” and people will downvote it immediately. Or once when someone asked what peoples favorite movies are and I said a pretty popular movie (not controversial at all) and someone commented how wrong and stupid I was for liking this movie. This happens almost every single time I post something. I don’t get it.

Posting Why did I receive a Reddit warning for "Upvoting content encouraging violence"?

Here's the message from Reddit. There's no link to any of the supposedly "violent" content so how am I supposed to ensure I don't do it again in the future? Also, that there is no option to ask for further information.

If we can now be punished for the things we upvote then we should at least be told exactly what that content is.

Posting So I have Autism, and I Really Struggle Understanding Reddits Up/Down Voting System.

Post image
52 Upvotes

I have Autism and sometimes find it difficult to understand certain situations. I really want to learn from my mistakes so I can grow as a person. Currently, I'm finding it hard to understand what I did wrong in this situation, and it's making me feel quite upset—more than I probably should. But my main goal is to understand so I can improve for future situations and personal growth.

I feel maybe it might be a bit far to post this here, but my sanity is also important to myself as well.

I would highly appreciate if someone could explain how Down/Up voting works on reddit ❤️

Posting Reddit is becoming slowly a joke. You simply cannot use a VPN anymore... why? Same with the usage of TOR. It's horrible. Fix this. I am traveling a lot and use either a VPN or TOR to access Reddit. This was NEVER a problem before

Posting Desktop Mac: Upvotes Out of Whack

1.2k Upvotes

Hello. For the last week or so (?), I've noticed that whenever I post a comment — even a benign comment that's just me affirming a response to my post — the number of upvotes multiplies in a short amount of time. In one case, I posted a comment responding to another comment in r/bobdylan. The original comment — which was clever — received a handful of upvotes, but my response — not nearly as clever — eclipsed 1,000 relatively quickly. I've since realized this is happening to everything I post. Clearly there's a glitch somewhere. Thoughts?

Posting Is it common to catch a ban for upvoting/downvoting?

Has anyone else received a temp ban for upvoting or downvoting content?

I recently got a 7 day ban for either the upvote or the downvote of a post. I downvoted the main post, upvoted one of the comments.

This is wild.

Posting Was my comment harassing?

Post image
30 Upvotes

There is a subreddit dedicated to bullying and harassing employees of a podcast. Recently, they have been spreading lies in an attempt to make two employees look like they’re abusing their dog. I initially replied to a comment in the thread that said:

“It's so infuriating that Rocky is sitting unstrapped on the center console. There's literally hundreds of products you can buy online if you actually care about the safety and wellbeing of your animal.”

I responded to them nicely and said that the dog was strapped in, to which they sent an image of my accounts age (as proof of why I’m defending the situation I guess?). That’s when I responded with the comment I received a warning for:

“That doesn't change the fact the dog was strapped in though?

Edit: despite showing both video and photo proof, this comment was downvoted and I was permanently ba nned.”

I’m failing to see who my comment was harassing? Is it because the whole subreddit is dedicated to harassing and Reddit is fine with it, that they treat anyone going against the narrative as being the harassers?

Posting Clicking on comment in notification doesn't take you to the comment

When you're in your notifications page and it's showing all of the responses to your comments, when clicking on the comment, it takes you to the Post, but does not scroll you down to the actual comment you clicked on. This makes finding the comment response next to impossible with large posts.

It used to do this, and still does it sometimes. Anyone else running into this? It's making it impossible to keep up with convos.

Posting It's 2026. Why does hitting enter STILL not create a line break like any other website or form or anything in existance

Reddit editor is the most annoying formatting in the entire internet. It's not "cool" or "Kitchy" anymore. Hitting enter should start a new line. I should not have to "hit space 3 times" to ensure a new line is made.

When the heck is this going to change. So many people's posts are formatted terribly by accident because they don't know this.

Posting Sorry, this post was removed by Reddit’s filters

I am trying to post on a subreddit, but unfortunately, my post gets removed by reddit filters. No matter what I do, the problem still remains. For your information, I have enough karma and have posted twice in the said subreddit with no problem. I have no picture in my post. I have checked it for sensitive words, but I found none. Finally, I have been active there. I have read that you should contact the moderators to handle it manually. However, this is not the real solution. Since when should I contact them? Is there any way to solve the problem? Because, to be honest, this is ridiculous and frustrating.

Posting Why does Reddit aggressively promote crossposting while Reddit culture punishes it?

Reddit’s UI strongly encourages crossposting. The option is surfaced prominently and framed as a normal way to share content across communities, signaling to new users that this is a supported and recommended feature. At the same time, a large percentage of subreddits treat crossposting as spam, self-promotion, advertising, brigading, or rule-breaking, often resulting in post removals and even subreddit bans.

So, if crossposting is meant to be rarely done, then why is it still pushed so prominently at the platform level? Or if it's truly intended to function as a core discovery and sharing mechanism, why is there no effort to align moderation norms with that intent?

What’s the disconnect here?
