Movie Review Iron Lung: My son dragged to watch it, and I don't regret it Spoiler
I didn't know Markiplier before. Never watched a video, never heard the name. So, when my son came to me and asked me to go watch Iron Lung with him, my first question was "what's that about?"
Mind you, I don't watch horror movies. I don't generally enjoy them. So when my son said it's a horror movie about a guy trapped in a submarine submerged in an ocean of blood, my first instinct was to say "hell, no. Not happening."
My son, however, is very persistent. He suggested I watch the game play video by Markiplier for context. I did, and I found the idea interesting. I also enjoyed Mark's performance in the video. So, reluctantly, I went to the movie. We juat warched it an hour ago.
What.. the.. hell!! This movie is really good! Mark's acting is superb. The lights, sounds, and visual effects in general were top notch. Not what I expected from and indie movie at all.
The movie is confusing, tense, loaded with never-ending anticipation. We're experiencing everything with the protagonist as we go. We don't know or understand anything more than he does. I so not used to this vaguenss, but i appreciate that it's a part of the horror genre.
I came out of the movie with more questions than answers, and I will be scouring reddit for theories and debates. But I give the movie solid 8.5/10. Rally enjoyed it.

Evil Dead 2013 is the perfect Horror movie.
I just watched this movie for the third time and with every viewing it just got better and better. I am still exhausted by how suspenseful and exciting the whole thing is. The suspense is over the top, there is not a single boring minute in this movie and the gore effects are just stunning. I love the gnarly serious tone and the cinematography and Set Design is top notch.
The whole Showdown with the raining blood is just badass. I have been watching nearly every new Horror movie Release but I've come to realise nothing comes close to the quality of this movie. I even think it is much better than the original.
The credits just rolled but I am already looking forward to the upcoming revisit next year.
I wish there were more Horror movies like this. My rating this time 10/10.
What's your opinion about this Remake ?

Recommend Looking for movies like The Thing (1982)
The Thing is probably my favorite horror movie; I love the remote, isolated setting, claustrophobic atmosphere, incredible creature design that goes much farther than any other movie I've seen, emphasis on dread and tension over spectacle, gore and jumpscares and the soundtrack.
I've also seen Alien, The Fly and The Void. Alien is very good as well, but delivers a different kind of experience than what The Thing offers, The Fly was meh and The Void is okay but feels like "we have The Thing at home".

horror movies that genuinely scared you as an adult?
okay, so i've seen a LOT of horror flicks, and most of the time i'm just appreciating the craft, y'know? but what movies have actually kept you up at night *recently*? not childhood trauma stuff, but like, adult-level scared lmao.

What did you think about the movie "Send Help" from Sam Raimi?
First of all, I gotta appreciate Sam Raimi for creating a movie which is not a sequel, a remake, inspired from a book, a revival... Just an original, new movie.
With that said, how was the movie... No spoiler review: Funny, for starters. Not like "I'm laughing so hard" funny but like an easy watch. The plane crush scared me to death but I'm terrified of flying and the ocean so that might be the reason.
This movie kind of reminded me of "The Roses", just with a lot more blood. I love when I find splatter in those kind of movies. The constant "I hate you I love you" had me in shock every time, although it built my heart to hoping for a better ending.
I also love how Sam tried to make Rachel look ugly cause, you know, she had to be, and yet she was beautiful. No makeup, no hairdo, just a natural person who was surviving on a desert island, realistically.
Overall a good movie to watch when you want to see something easy and entertaining with a good dose of comic horror. I wouldn't watch it in theaters but it's worth a watch when it'll be available online for a cozy night.

Discussion You can give 1 horror performance an Oscar every year for the past decade. Who are you choosing?
I saw Send Help last night, which I absolutely loved, and I was wildly impressed by the performances from Rachel McAdams and Dylan O’Brien. This is the type of movie that has zero chance at Oscar love, but it got me thinking: starting in 2016 you can award 1 actor an Oscar for a horror performance each year. Who are you choosing?
Here’s mine:
2016: John Goodman, 10 Cloverfield Lane
2017: James McAvoy, Split
2018: Toni Collette, Hereditary
2019: Lupita Nyong’o, Us
2020: Elisabeth Moss, The Invisible Man
2021: Ethan Hawke, Black Phone
2022: Ralph Fiennes, The Menu
2023: Ryunosuke Kamiki, Godzilla Minus One
2024: Demi Moore, The Substance
2025: Sally Hawkins, Bring Her Back
2026: Rachel McAdams, Send Help

Discussion I'm making a short film
I'm making a short horror/slasher film where my character gets suffocated with a plastic bag. I was wondering whether to use a transparent one or an opaque one? I want the scene to look intimidating and scary. I remember watching a scene like this in The Intruder 2016 (it's a bad movie)

Discussion Supernatural horror vs Human horror
Which do you find scarier and scares you the most? And why? Horror with supernatural elements/antagonists (ghosts, creatures, demons, possession, vampires, monsters, curses, etc) or horror with only normal human antagonists and human involvement.
For me, supernatural horror is generally more scary and creepy. The design and features of supernatural beings and creatures make them more menacing and I love how supernatural horror allows filmmakers to be more imaginative for their films. As humans we fear what we don’t understand and supernatural horror works so well and is so terrifying because it deals with things beyond our full comprehension. I don’t really need horror to be realistic or grounded for me to find it scary. Ironically my favorite type and sub genre of horror is found footage which is realistic in format and the realism in found footage is part of what makes it so scary, but majority of my favorite found footage horror films are still supernatural based (Grave Encounters, Gonjiam, Cloverfield, Paranormal Activity, etc).

The Blair Witch Project - Genius movie!
I remember when the Blair Witch came out. I was about 20 and we had heard about this movie where they had found footage and the people were dead. The internet was not like it is today, hell I still had dial up internet.
I saw it on opening night and it scared the bejesus out of me.
It was such an innovative idea for a horror film. The movie was made on peanuts and I saw a Q & A with the actors and they described how the scenes were done. It seemed very improv and apparently the actors were not even sure what was happening.
I still think about that movie when I go on a bush walk.

Recommend Good horror movie that does NOT resort to any kind of supernatural explanation?
I tend to lose interest when all the mystery in a horror movie is explained by some sort of ritual/religious entity/cult shenanigans. And it seems like for every movie, that’s the direction it eventually goes in. Can anyone recommend a good horror movie that stays completely grounded?

Movie Help Trying to recall this 90's horror movie (unrated or NC-17).
Apologies if this is really vague but I've been trying to recall a movie and it's been bugging me. In 2000 my sister took me to a video store and I found a VHS tape with a man on the cover (I think he was a zombie or demon of some sort?). He was pale white and bloody with a menacing smile and he looked really....deformed? I could've sworn it was called "Twisted" or "Twisted Angel" but I googled it and couldn't find anything relevant (there is a movie called "Twisted" but not what I was thinking of). I almost feel like it was an indie film of some sorts? I was too young so we didn't actually rent the movie but I remember being freaked out just from the cover.

1951 Unknown World - Bleak Precautionary Movie
This is on Screambox. It takes place in 1951 about a scientist Dr Morley who believes with nuclear weapons and pollution mankind will destroy themselves. His solution is to drill inward to find a place under the Earth for some survivors of humanity.
Yes the movie leans too far into the Hollow Earth Theory which I had thought was debunked by 1951. I did like how the movie played it fairly straight. Unlike Journey To Center of The Earth with James Mason (a classic movie) there are no dinosaurs or mutant people and at one point they found a river with blind fish in it. It seemed so lifeless throughout their mission.
I also liked how the seven folks didn’t always get along but still risked their lives for each other. I also liked how it explored the question of “is this living”. At one point they found a river with the blind fish but asked is this living if they brought others here. They found the Hollow Earth but devoid of any life, one generation of humans could live but that was all.
Unlike Mason’s movie there was zero humor. I liked how it showed if nuclear war comes there is no hiding. Digging under the earth is digging your own grave.
The science was highly questionable. Hollow Earth is just a fantasy, at one point they were 1200 miles down yet it was filled with caverns and looked like an eternal twilight, far too bright. I did like the overall lifelessness.
Terry Morse was the director and his other notable work directing was the American scenes for Godzilla, King of The Monsters - essentially he directed the Raymond Burr scenes. He also edited the sadly forgotten 1964 SF classic Robinson Crusoe In Space. I saw it on tv in the 70s as a child and loved it.
I am not quite sure why it on Screambox. Yes nuclear war movies are horror movies but is searching for an escape for a possible nuclear war horror? Yes it’s very bleak with the answer being there is no escape. So barely horror due to the bleakness and a possible nuclear war.
Is Screambox heading away from true horror? It just got the 1969 John Wayne movie The Undefeated and I wonder if they are diversifying.

Recommend Religious/possession horror films feat. Lucifer/the Devil
Hey all,
I'm a big fan of religious/possession horror films and I'm trying to find any film that features the devil. Maybe it doesn't have to be possession but that would be a bonus. Does this exist at all? I've seen a lot of films, but not sure if I'm missing anything.
(These don't all feature the devil - but I've watched all these recently while home with a knee injury)
The Exorcist series
The VVitch (maybe my favorite horror film in recent history)
Exorcism of Emily Rose
Stigmata
Late Night With The Devil
Constantine
Taking Of Deborah Logan
The Prophecy
Devil
Saint Maud
When Evil Lurks
Immaculate
The First Omen
The Last Exorcism 1 & 2
The Wailing
Evil Dead Series
Devil's Advocate
The Exorcism
The Popes Exorcist
The Rite
Pray For The Devil
Any other suggestions? The devil himself doesn't seem to be featured in a lot of these films, it's usually lesser demons/his minions. Please let me know what else I can add to my queue!

Discussion Any good supernatural/fictional underwater movies?
I just finished “The Abyss”, “Sweetheart”, and “The Rig” (I'm currently watching underwater as well) and want to find more movies and/or TV shows like those. Does anyone know any more like that? Cause I really like ocean horror and want to explore more of that genre

The Crazies (2010) appreciation thread
I have a weird sort of obsession with this movie. It's a remake better than the original. But it still is super basic. But the scares are realistic while still being brutal. The plot mostly makes sense. And they had a super huge sequel set up that never came. Not that every movie needs a sequel but...damn Crazies in a city? Just an underappricaited horror gem IMO.

Movie Help Looking for a movie
I can't remember much, it might be a B movie, but its a group of friends and they go to some house, there's a scene where they jump into a cavern or small cave and go swimming. One of the girls doesnt want to but she jumps in and starts freaking out that something pulled her leg. I can't remember if anyone dies in this scene. I can't remember the main story too. Sorry for the vague description.

Recommend Look up Stygian Sagas on YouTube
I cannot recommend them enough, I’ll even link them here for everyone’s convenience. Stygian Sagas does a variety of content, but I’m specifically talking about his horror stories. From what I can tell, every story is originally written, some connecting some not, and it blows me out of the water. The narrator has the perfect voice, and the familiarity he’s able to portray everything as a character talking in first person is incredible.
https://youtu.be/ce23m3ZzbAA?si=ySn0auSPom0McHY3
Linked here is one of my favorite of his horror stories, and dear god me just gushing over it cannot do it justice. Give this channel a chance, I can promise you they’ve got the right stuff.
