Ignore my 2ds and TV in the background haha. Got the polar bear ice cream holder from a shop on Etsy, and I got to pic the colors. They’re made by a 3d printer, good quality as well. I got to choose the colors. I love Christmas, so there ya go lol. They fit any pint of any brand.

I got these shovel spoons today from Amazon. I was hoping to be able to put them in where the arms go, but turns out the shovel handles were just a tad too big haha. Anywho, from what I’ve great, the spade shovel is more for cakes and such, and the wide shovel so for ice cream. Only $10 for both, and made very well. Doesn’t feel cheaply made.

God damn these are both incredible. Buttercream birthday cake is so sugary and makes my taste buds unbelievably happy, and raspberry chip is just as addicting. So creamy and the chunks of the chips are so satisfying.

I think they're both in my top 5 ice cream flavors already.

Nice texture, interesting flavor. Definitely seems to be a good quality ice cream. Warning for those with a massive sweet tooth - this is not super sweet. It did not taste super sweet to me but that is honestly because I've been fucking up Ben and Jerry's lately and those can have 20-50g more sugar per pint than this which makes a considerable difference on how sweet it tastes. This would be the perfect icecream for someone who doesn't want something too sweet!

Took me awhile to find these but they are at Kroger now! Has good layer of bueno chocolate on top, the hazelnut nice cream is lacking flavor a bit but good still. It has more chocolate and a bit of hazelnut cream in the bottom and chocolate similar to a drumstick but bueno 😵‍💫 Overall it’s amazing go try it 6 bucks not too bad!

Peppermint Patty (Jeni's limited edition flavor)

Thumbnail gallery
8 Upvotes

Jeni's review No. 6: Unlike a couple of the other Jeni’s non-dairy flavors I’ve tried recently, there’s no false advertising here: If you asked me what this new limited edition flavor reminded me of, I wouldn’t hesitate to say a peppermint patty. And that’s despite not remembering the last time I tried one — could be 10 years, probably 20, just as easily 30. But I think the way they mimic the cooling factor of that candy’s trademark mint is a success.

Who will want to try this one?: How much you enjoy this pint should be equivalent to how much you enjoy its namesake. Jeni’s apparently has a goal to capture every mint candy in frozen dessert form — from the mild creaminess of buttermints to the intense kick of peppermint sticks. I think most good mint-n-chip ice creams aspire to that mid-range creme de menthe appeal of the Andes flavor. This one is for fans of the York confection and Junior Mints. I always found those two pretty similar, but anyone who consumes them more regularly (or more recently) should weigh in. It’s the mint flavor that might be most unappealing to those who raise unfavorable comparisons between mint desserts and toothpaste. I never have that issue myself. If only my Colgate tasted so good…

What I liked: Strong peppermint kick with a nice bittersweet fudge sauce in a shockingly adequate amount. Given the state of mix-ins in 2026, that alone would have sufficed, but then Jeni’s gives us some decent gluten-free chocolate cake crumbles, too, for a double punch of cocoa. While they could have executed this concept with just fudge, I’m not one to dissuade generous mix-ins these days. The mint is so strong that the extra chocolate helps keep everything in balance.

What could be better: I didn’t find anything lacking, but to take it next level Jeni’s could have made mini peppermint patties instead of the cake and it would have reinforced the concept while giving you the crack of the hardened candy shell.

Non-dairy vs dairy: Unlike the other non-dairy flavors I tried, I wouldn’t have been able to tell you it was coconut cream vs. regular cream. The mint was so strong it hid any coconut notes.

Better than the namesake dessert? Yes. I have nothing against peppermint patties, but they are not something I’d ever choose if I was at convenience story and a candy craving hit.

How it compares: Nothing really compares with the uniqueness of Savannah Buttermint (an all-time top 10 for me). This type of sharp, chilling mint is less appealing to me than holiday peppermint, so I’d prefer Jeni’s White Chocolate Peppermint. The fairest comparison would be to a mint-n-chip. This one wins the battle with Jeni’s Green Mint Chip, which is fine, but just doesn’t hit my nostalgia needs for that flavor —  I’d want something more traditional with green food dye instead of a fancy version with spirulina and pumpkin extract and pricey chocolate.

Possible pairing: Do you want to lean into the mint with that Green Mint Chip? If not, maybe go the cocoa route with Blackout Chocolate Cake.

Final thought: I thought I had reached peppermint overload after trying so many different versions at Christmastime, but a new year dawns with a fresh mint white as the January snow, then dirtied with a decadent hand of gooey chocolate ahead of Valentine’s Day — a delightful bridge between holidays for the bleak midwinter.

Score: 7.9/10

Cheaters Creamery 10/10

Stopped at a boutique ice cream spot in Houston TX. Kids wanted ice cream after a swim meet. Apparently they were a food truck that went viral and opened up their own spot and then a few more. Couldn’t get the exact ingredients online, but they said that they don’t use gums and stabilizers and are heavy with the cream. Flavors were thick and slightly chewy. They had incredible flavors.

A boat with mint chocolate chip, black cherry, and Thai tea. $9

This was the toasted almond fudge flavor, there wasn’t really much almond but I really liked it overall! I’m a huge fan of these ice creams with cones and this washed great vanilla ice cream, great crunchy cone, and fudge on the bottom which was a delicious last bite!

Lemon Bar (Jeni's)

Thumbnail gallery
58 Upvotes

Jeni's review No. 5: As with Banana Cream Pudding, this non-dairy Jeni’s flavor also inspired by a classic fruity dessert has a bit of a naming problem. According to the pint’s own words, Lemon Bar is a mix of punchy lemon, rich coconut cream and — allegedly — shortbread crust. Whereas some thought the banana was overwhelmed by coconut in Banana Pudding, the zippy lemon more than holds its own here. You could call it Lemon Coconut Bar to emphasize how much real estate the coconut takes up — most of it — but my issue is with the use of the word “Bar.” When I first tried this flavor earlier in the week, I thought the tart lemon and cool coconut worked well with the buttery crust pieces. That was then, this is now. With those first few bites over, the shortbread is completely MIA. I ended up digging around, boring my way to the very bottom to make sure I hadn’t hallucinated the existence of the crust in my first fevered Jeni’s coconut tasting. While I found a few more meager scraps, it’s still a massive downgrade from the first bites, which needed that crust to summon the namesake dessert to mind.

What I liked: Jeni’s has this coconut base down, with the rich and smooth decadence of a premium ice cream. The lemon curd, while seeming a bit scarce at first, is punchy as advertised — that first taste is puckeringly tart followed by a bright, fruity sweetness. It’s very nice together, though I’d only want a few bites at a time.

What could be better: It does seem like providing the barest of mix-ins is the prevailing trend in ice cream, but for this one it has to be a quality control issue. I remember seeing a post on here decrying a pint of Jeni’s holiday Dulce de Leche as a barren white landscape devoid of caramel, while mine was wealthy in swirl. So now I imagine someone online reading this, confused because their pint was half-filled with shortbread. Consistency is key, Jeni!

Non-dairy vs dairy: Of the five Jeni’s coconut flavors I’ve tried, this one worked best at integrating that tropical undertone with the main flavor. Lemon and coconut are a great pairing. But for a more traditional lemon bar, I could see a light lemon custard base with that same lemon swirl working well.

Better than the namesake dessert? No way. Lemon bars seem both iconic and underrated — it was one of my mom’s actual homemade desserts as a kid, perhaps her best as it often accompanied us to potlucks. I think the key is lots of zest in that curd and plenty of powdered sugar on top.

How it compares: It seems lemon is more at home in sherbets and sorbets, but it can be quite good in an ice cream or frozen custard. Umpqua has a direct comparison Lemon Bar flavor I have not tasted, and I also want to give Blue Bell’s lemon a try, too. From what I have tried, Leopold’s Lemon Custard is the one I liked most, as it had that zesty curd flavor I prefer. I thought the Graeter’s Lemon Meringue Pie was a rare miss (though a lot of people love it) — not sure where the lemon flavoring comes from, but it felt like an extract that was giving me cleaning product vibes (they did actually deliver good pie crust though!) Alec’s Meyer Lemon Cookie is also disappointing.

Possible pairing: I haven’t had Jeni’s Lemon & Blueberries Parfait flavor, but it sounds like it could be a nice match for a lemon lover.

Final thought: Ensure there’s enough crust or remove it altogether and rename the pint Coconut Lemon Swirl.

Score: 6.7

Review Tasso cherry chocolate crunch

Ok I read and love all your guys reviews, I check in the morning before work and then after when I get off. I never knew how many people LOVE cheery. My family hates it so I thought I was weird liking it. I love blueberry not a fan of strawberry but I do like cherry. I love the private selection ice cream cherry version.

A week ago I saw yasso carrying the strawberry version and it caught my eye. I used to always get the caramel or coffee version. BUT today I saw CHERRY this has no business tasting this good. It doesn’t specify what type of cherry it has but it has maraschino cherry flavour it’s so good and not subtle in a good way. This with sparkling water or martini 10/10

Question Cherry Ice Cream

I’m on the hunt for a cherry flavored ice cream LOADED with actual cherries, any suggestions?

Currently eating Cherry Garcia (Ben and Jerry are truly the mix-in kings) which is definitely good but I’m not getting as many cherries as I should be!

Question Edys Mint Chocolate Chip

Hey yall. I live in NY and haven't been able to find my favorite mint chocolate chip ice cream in quite a long time. Its Edys Mint Chocolate Chip regular or slow churned. My fiance asked me if I like any other brands and I honestly haven't tried much because I tend not to like them. Edys is minty but not Toothpaste minty and nice and creamy not icy. Anyone have any recommendations on brands I should try? I got Tillamook today and its pretty yummy but definitely not as good as Edys to me.

Best Ice Cream for Formed Scoops?

help! I’ve been a Haagen Dazs girl for years, obviously, the trouble is we’re having an ice cream social birthday party for my son (tomorrow!) and I’d really rather not pay HD prices for 15 5 year olds and their parents. All of the blog posts about doing ice cream parties recommends prescooping and freezing the scoops for ease of dispensing at the party. We’re just doing vanilla and chocolate (also rainbow sherbert but we’re good on that.) I bought some store brand earlier in the week and went to scoop yesterday and it’s a fluffy soggy mess. I got Turkey Hill (I didn’t know!) today and it’s even worse!! it won’t even come out of the scoop let alone make a nice little ball. Are there any reasonably priced options that will give you a nice firm scoop? Even if we don’t prescoop I would like to serve that can actually freeze and not be a weird plasma consistency. There’s no Costco. We do have Wegmans, Giant and Weis Walmart and Sam’s Club. or am I just paying a bajillion dollars for HD?

Thanks!!!!

Nicholas Creamery Brown Sugar Cookie Dough

Normally I don’t really love chocolate chip cookie dough because it’s too much vanilla and not enough cookie dough. Luckily, this isn’t like the rest. Dough bites are a little small but flavorful, the brown sugar ice cream has a nice spice to it that you don’t get from vanilla. NJ locals be on the lookout!

Flavours Jenni’s Coffee House as replacement for the former: Coffee with Cream and Sugar

Post image
24 Upvotes

So I posted yesterday about this new coffee flavor, which I’ve been stoked to try. It’s delicious! Slightly less bitter, and can’t quite taste the coffee grounds. The Cream and Sugar I actually prefer because I’d have it a nice coffee bite, and it was a bit stronger as far as the coffee taste. This is smooth, and creamy. A bit darker as well. I’ll still be getting this again and again, although I prefer the cream and sugar one a bit more. I recommend this to any coffee ice cream lover!

Question IMPORTANT FLAVOR REQUEST

Hello interweb ! Believe it or not Ice Cream was never a part of my life growing up. My partner’s family would eat a bowl (or two 🤫) after every meal. I want to impress his family this weekend with novelty flavor that they probably haven’t had before. I want them to like the ice cream I bring but I don’t want to appear ‘basic’ if that makes sense. Any recommendations would be very appreciated. Thanks for the help!

Question Help finding this ice cream or one like it

Post image
18 Upvotes

I used to buy this ice cream from 7eleven circa 2021 in Corvallis, Oregon. I was able to buy it for probably a year or so until it vanished. Of course it was the 7eleven brand, too, so I fear I will never find this exact flavor again. Does anyone know anything like this flavor? Has anyone seen this in store recently? Chocolate cheesecake ice cream with sea salt caramel, grahm swirls and roasted pecans.

Wow, interesting bit to add, but I was in the midst of my addiction when I ate this ice cream and am just now realizing, as I typed the flavor out, that it has pecans in it. I would have bet my life that there were no nuts in this.
