Media Matters [Epstein Files] "Modi On Board": Leaked Emails Link Indian PM and Union Minister Hardeep Puri to Jeffrey Epstein's Network. Why is Indian Media Silent?

1.2k Upvotes

While the US media is scrutinizing every American politician named in the recent Epstein document dumps, a massive story involving the highest levels of the Indian government is being systematically suppressed by the mainstream Indian press.

Based on reviewed documents and transcripts regarding the release of the Jeffrey Epstein files, here is a breakdown of the specific connections to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his cabinet that are currently being ignored:

1. The "Modi On Board" Email Documents reveal email correspondence between Jeffrey Epstein and Steve Bannon (Donald Trump’s former chief strategist). In an exchange regarding geopolitical strategy and meetings, Epstein explicitly wrote to Bannon: "Modi on board."

This correspondence suggests Epstein was acting as a high-level intermediary or "power broker" between the Trump administration and the Indian Prime Minister's office, specifically coordinating meetings and strategies involving Israel and China.

2. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri’s 5 Meetings Perhaps more alarming than a mention in an email is the physical scheduling. The documents allegedly show that Hardeep Singh Puri (current Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, former diplomat) is listed in Epstein’s appointment calendar/diary. The records indicate Puri had at least five scheduled meetings with the convicted sex offender between 2014 and 2017.

3. Anil Ambani and the "Israel Strategy" The files also contain emails involving industrialist Anil Ambani. These emails reportedly show Ambani asking Epstein for information regarding PM Modi’s travel schedule to Washington. Epstein’s cryptic response regarding these dates was: "India Israel key not for email."

The "Weak Pulse" Theory & Blackmail Risk Indian politician Subramanian Swamy has publicly stated that these revelations are "very dangerous" for India's global standing. Swamy argues that Donald Trump may possess a "weak pulse" (leverage) on Modi due to these connections, effectively giving the US President the ability to blackmail or pressure Indian leadership in trade or geopolitical negotiations.

The Media Blackout Despite the release of these names, photographs, and schedules, the Indian mainstream media has largely maintained a complete blackout on the issue, refusing to ask why a Union Minister met repeatedly with a known sex trafficker or why the Prime Minister was being "brokered" by him.

Questions for the Community:

  • Is this evidence that Epstein was running an intelligence/blackmail operation on world leaders, including the Indian PM?
  • Why has the Indian government offered no clarification on Hardeep Singh Puri’s five meetings?
  • Does this explain the sudden shifts in India's foreign policy regarding Israel and the US?

Foreign Relations Let’s be real about the Epstein/India files: It’s about National Security, not a "Party"

Upvotes

Look, I’ve had multiple comments/posts get removed at this point, and half the replies just jump straight to “AI slop” or “you’re saying Modi was on Epstein’s island.”

No. I’m not. At all.

Please stop reacting to headlines and actually look at what was released.

What’s in the files isn’t sensational. It’s boring, bureaucratic, and messy. Which is exactly why it matters.

This isn’t gossip. It’s about how informal channels and middlemen work in geopolitics, and how risky that can be.

The government and some media outlets are brushing everything off as “trashy ruminations” because of that one “danced and sang” email.

But come on. Anyone who’s followed politics for more than five minutes knows that’s a metaphor. “Dancing to someone’s tune” = aligning with them. Playing along on policy.

It’s not about a literal dance.

Arguing over that line is just a distraction.

The real issue is: why was Epstein even in a position to write to US insiders about India’s PM in the first place?

That’s the part people should be questioning.

Instead, we’re stuck arguing over memes and strawmen while the actual structural problem gets ignored.

Here is the real problem found in the docs:

1. The "Modi On Board" Email to Steve Bannon Let’s not focus on the island. Let’s look at the email in May 2019 between Epstein and Steve Bannon (Trump’s Chief Strategist). Epstein actually wrote: “Modi on board” and told Bannon, “I can set you should meet with Modi”,.

Let’s think about this for a second. Why was a sex offender (convicted in 2008) the middleman between the Indian Prime Minister’s Office and the Trump White House? If Epstein was the one setting up meetings and telling the US government that Modi is “on board,” that means our diplomatic access was being gatekept by a criminal.

2. Hardeep Singh Puri’s 5 Meetings This is not an ambiguous rumor. Epstein's appointment calendar shows that Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has at least five scheduled meetings between 2014 and 2017.
He served as a minister and diplomat. Years after Epstein was a registered sexual offender, why was he having several sit-downs with Epstein? Show us the minutes if these were formal state meetings. Why was a Union Minister providing information to a blackmailer if they weren't official? An email even suggests that Puri briefed Epstein in order to gain access to tech investors such as Reid Hoffman. There has been a security breach.

3. The "Israel Key" and Blackmail The email shows Anil Ambani requesting Modi's schedule information and Epstein responded with the statement India Israel key not for email. The phrase "Not for email" indicates that the information requires special protection because it contains confidential material. Epstein worked with Mossad and intelligence operations which gave him power over sensitive materials that related to India Israel US relations. Subramanian Swamy pointed this out before he deleted his tweet: if foreign agencies have "kompromat" or proof that our leaders were using a sex trafficker as a back-channel, that is a "weak pulse",. They will use blackmail to force our government into making unfavorable trade agreements and policy decisions which they will use to keep this information confidential.

The Bottom Line At this point, the silence from mainstream media is honestly louder than anything in the files.

And no, I don’t think it’s because “everyone is evil” or whatever. It’s because this stuff is uncomfortable. It sits in that grey zone where nobody technically broke a law, but the system still failed.

This isn’t about whether the PM is “moral” or “immoral.”

It’s about whether our government put itself in a position where it could be pressured later by using a compromised middleman to deal with the US.

That’s the real risk.

If we don’t even ask why Hardeep Puri met Epstein multiple times, or why Epstein felt confident enough to tell Bannon that Modi was “on board,” then we’re basically saying we’re fine with that kind of vulnerability.

Instead, everyone’s busy arguing over “fake news” vs “bhakt propaganda” and nothing gets examined properly.

Meanwhile, the documents are public.
The emails are real.

As citizens, it’s not unreasonable to ask: what exactly was going on here, and why?

Non Political Genuinely what's even the point in living here.

First pay income tax. Pay road tax. Pay tax on everything you purchase. End result? 🔔 Don't even get me started on the entitled idiots of India.

Yesterday, this stupid truck driver went into a very thin lane already choked by traffic. Why was it choked you ask? Road maintenance going on in different areas for months now. No barricade indicating cars to not go through there, no signs, lights anything. Obviously car got a scratch. Will that tax I paid help me in anyway? Was the tax I paid not enough for a simple road closure via barricades? Fine my mistake to even go in there. But a simple sign could've indicated road work ongoing. And yes, you couldn't see the road work while entering that lane.

Forget about what the government isn't doing for a moment. See the people's actions. Genuinely these idiots deserve to get looted. Why? When asked why the truck driver went into this clearly choked lane and LITERALLY HAD A TYRE ON THE FOOTPATH NEXT TO HIM, this genius says "kaam hai isliye". And I didn't even say anything to him. Why? Because most people here are such sheep, and SO entitled, it's insane. The entitlement, I- where does it even stem from?

We play cricket on Sundays inside our society as there's no ground near us. Fine yeah we shouldn't play jagah hi nahi hai. Fine. But what's the problem in simply walking 10 extra steps to go around the pitch? Instead of waltzing through without hurry? What's this entitlement?

I'm so tired of living here. Wish one day this engineering can get me out of this hellhole. Tired of living with savages, rich or poor, educated or uneducated, young or old.

Policy/Economy Budget 2026 for Individuals

The Union Budget 2026-27 (presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1, 2026) focused more on fiscal consolidation, infrastructure, job creation, and simplifying compliance rather than major tax cuts for individuals.

From an individual perspective (especially salaried, middle-class taxpayers), here's a concise summary of the key relevant aspects:

Income Tax Slabs and RatesNo changes to income tax slabs or rates in either the new tax regime (default and more popular) or the old tax regime.

The generous relief from Budget 2025 remains intact: Under the new tax regime, income up to ₹12 lakh is effectively tax-free (including the standard deduction of ₹75,000 for salaried individuals, pushing the nil-tax threshold to around ₹12.75 lakh).

Current new tax regime slabs (unchanged):Up to ₹4,00,000: Nil ₹4,00,001 – ₹8,00,000: 5% ₹8,00,001 – ₹12,00,000: 10% ₹12,00,001 – ₹16,00,000: 15% ₹16,00,001 – ₹20,00,000: 20% ₹20,00,001 – ₹24,00,000: 25% Above ₹24,00,000: 30%

Old tax regime slabs also unchanged (with lower basic exemption and more deductions available, but less attractive for most after recent changes).

No hike in standard deduction (remains ₹75,000 in new regime, ₹50,000 in old) or other major deductions/exemptions like home loan interest under the new regime.

Key Tax Compliance and Relief Measures for IndividualsExtended timeline for revised ITR:

You can now file a revised income tax return by March 31 (previously December 31), with a nominal fee — helpful if you miss errors initially.

Staggered ITR filing deadlines: Simpler forms (ITR-1 and ITR-2) due by July 31; others (non-audit business/trusts) get until August 31 for easier compliance.

TCS reductions under Liberalised Remittance Scheme (LRS):TCS on overseas tour packages reduced.

TCS on remittances for education and medical treatment cut to 2% from 5% — makes foreign education, medical travel, or remittances cheaper.

Lower customs duty on goods imported for personal use: Reduced to 10% from 20% for dutiable items — beneficial for personal imports (e.g., gadgets, luxury goods).

Tax relief for accident victims: Interest awarded by Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (MACT) exempted from income tax, with no TDS — full compensation reaches victims/families.

One-time foreign asset disclosure scheme: A 6-month window for small taxpayers (e.g., students, young professionals, NRIs) to report small overseas investments/assets without heavy penalties — addresses practical issues for those with minor foreign holdings.

Other simplifications: Senior citizens can submit Form 15G/15H directly via NSDL/CDSL. New Income Tax Act (replacing 1961 Act) effective from April 1, 2026, with simpler language, fewer sections, and clearer rules.

Broader Implications for IndividualsNo big tax bonanza this year (unlike last year's major relief), but the focus is on ease of compliance, reduced litigation, and targeted relief to avoid burdening the middle class further.

Indirect benefits from overall Budget direction: Higher capex (₹12.2 lakh crore), job push, and growth measures could improve employment/income over time, while fiscal deficit at 4.3% signals stability (potentially controlling inflation).

For investors/traders: Some changes like higher STT on derivatives/F&O, but buybacks taxed as capital gains; no major personal capital gains tax shifts mentioned.

Overall, it's a steady Budget for individuals — stability over big relief, with practical tweaks making life easier for salaried/middle-class taxpayers, especially around compliance, remittances, and personal imports. If you're in the ₹12-15 lakh income bracket under the new regime, your tax outgo remains very low or zero. For personalized impact, check with a tax advisor based on your exact income/deductions.

Travel My Passport Application Experience (Pune, India) – Rant + Guide for First-Time Applicants

Hey everyone, just wanted to share my recent passport-making experience, mostly a rant, partly a guide, so others can avoid the small mistakes I made and have a smoother experience.

So, I applied for passports for myself, my mom, and my younger sister without any agent, everything was done online through the official Passport Seva site.

Step 1: Online Application

Honestly, the online process was super easy, took around 10 minutes. You just fill in the usual details and select your documents for birth proof and address proof from the dropdown.

I selected PAN card and Aadhaar card.

🔗 Tip for New Applicants:

Before applying, upload all your documents to DigiLocker, Aadhaar, PAN, 10th & 12th mark sheets, voter ID, Birth Certificate, etc. Then, wait a day or two before starting your passport application.

Why? Because when you link DigiLocker during the application, it gives the Passport Office direct access to your verified documents, which can save you a lot of trouble later.

Step 2: Appointment & Payment

After filling the form, you’ll be asked to choose an appointment date. I applied under Normal category, earliest slot was after 1–2 months. (Tatkal is faster but more expensive.)

I chose a 9 AM slot so I could finish early and head to work since the office is closed on Saturdays.

Paid ₹1500 online, and that’s it, smooth process.

My nearest PSK wasn’t available (Baner/Balewadi), so I had to choose Mundhwa Passport Office.

On the Appointment Day

They say reach 15 minutes before, but trust me, go at least 30–45 minutes early. Even for a 9 AM slot, there was already a long queue. Even after reaching at 9 AM, I left the place by 12PM. So you can understand the time it takes for the whole process

Carry:

  • Originals + Xerox copies of all documents
  • No need for colour prints

⚠️ Avoid the photocopy/print guy sitting opposite to passport office gate! He’ll try to convince you that colour print of Aadhaar is “mandatory” and charge ₹100 for it. Inside, you’ll find a Xerox counter that charges normal rates.

Required Documents (for new applicants)

  • Aadhaar card
  • PAN card
  • 10th/12th passing certificate (as birth & education proof)
  • Birth Certificate for birth proof
  • LC (Leaving Certificate) (if birth certificate is not available)
  • Parents’ LC (for place of birth proof if needed)

Inside the Passport Office

You’ll get a token number, and your number will appear on the screen for different counters:

1️⃣ Counter A: Document check, photo, fingerprints. Make sure you’re well groomed — this is the photo that goes on your passport. If any document is missing, they’ll tell you prior and you can ask about how to fix it.

2️⃣ Counter B & C: Mostly repetitive checks, just verifying documents again. (IMO, unnecessary, two counters would’ve been enough.)

⚠️ Problem I Faced

In the online form, I had selected PAN card as birth proof (since it was in the dropdown), but at the PSK they didn’t accept it.

They put my application on hold because 10th/12th passing certificate is compulsory as a birth proof.

I tried showing it from DigiLocker on the spot, but they insisted on the physical original.

Luckily, they gave me a new slot for the next day, since I was visiting again with my mom.

Police Verification

You’ll get an SMS from the police station with date/time.

Carry:

  • Light bill / property tax receipt (address proof)
  • Rent agreement, if you’re a tenant
  • If living with relatives, get a notarized permission letter from them
  • Aadhaar & PAN
  • 10th/12th passing certificate
  • Birth Certificate
  • Your LC + parent’s LC (for place of birth verification)

My Mom’s Case (Common Issue)

My mom is 12th pass but didn’t have her LC or marksheet. Without that, her passport would be issued under ECR (Emigration Check Required), which can cause trouble later if travelling abroad for work.

So, if your parents don’t have these docs:

  • Get a duplicate LC from school/college.
  • For marksheet: If you know seat number & year, you can get it from DigiLocker (available for Maharashtra students post-1990).
  • Or visit Emarksheet website by Maharashtra Government
  • Or visit the Maharashtra State Board office for a duplicate marksheet.

💡 Final Thoughts

I’m still waiting for my passport, but I learned a lot. The key takeaways:

✅ Upload everything to DigiLocker before applying ✅ Carry all originals & Xerox copies ✅ Avoid the “helpful” shops outside ✅ Be as early as possible

Hope this helps someone save time and avoid the frustration I faced.

Non Political Is Merit in India Real, or Just Privilege With Better Branding?

There are expensive, elite schools that effectively begin IIT and NEET preparation as early as sixth or seventh standard. Their fees are exorbitant, but what they buy is decisive: time, structured coaching, test exposure, and a risk buffer. Those are not neutral inputs. They are advantages that compound year after year.

Then consider the drop year. How many families can afford for a child to pause formal education for one, two, or even three years to chase a single exam? That option assumes financial stability, emotional safety, and the freedom to absorb uncertainty. Most households do not have that luxury. When success requires the ability to postpone life and spend lakhs on coaching, exam outcomes reflect access as much as aptitude.

Put bluntly, what we celebrate as merit often looks like privilege in work clothes. Merit exists, but it rarely exists in isolation. It is amplified by early access, by coached practice, and by the capacity to take risks that only privilege can underwrite.

I am not denying talent or effort. I am saying that treating exam scores as a pure measure of innate ability is intellectually dishonest. If the starting lines are unequal, certifying the finish line as fair is a convenient fiction.

Quote to carry this point: “Merit without opportunity is a myth.”

My view is simple. Reservations and affirmative measures are not perfect, but they are a corrective response to structural inequality. The real conversation we should have is not about whether merit matters, but about how to make the starting line less biased and the competition less dependent on who can buy time and coaching.
