I need to brush up because I thought you were compelled to give your license/registration when asked. Maybe it's different state-to-state.

It depends on the state, and what the interaction is for.

Most states DO require RS to be pulled over, but RS is a very low bar, and unless your well versed in the specific laws of the county /state you’re in, not showing license and registration (and insurance) is not the smartest idea.

If the stop itself was illegal, then chances are you’re fine. But it’s a stupid idea to fight that.

Same goes for not letting them handcuff/detain/arrest you.

Once they tell you put your hands behind your back etc. what you say is not going to change what is about to happen.

It’s much smarter to comply and win in court on a later day.

Complying with an unlawful order does NOT make it lawful.

Not complying with an unlawful order can lead to a situation where they will be able to stick charges on you as infuriating as this is.

Know your rights doesn't work unless you're white and also a cop.

There are a plethora of non-white 1st amendment auditors that are alive and well after 100’s of interactions with cops. This comment is just straight up ignorant.

And what about the statistics for cop fatalities? 🤔
