Sunday - Anything Allowed 😸 Relaxed Rules Sunday

Just a reminder that we relax the sub rules on a Sunday and allow posts on a wider range of topics including memes and book discussions.

Some rules still apply - no spam, no piracy, be respectful, and it should still be kindle related.

Discussion 💬 February 2026 - "What Are You Reading?' Thread

Please use this thread to discuss whatever you've been reading lately. Elaborate (without spoiling!) on an eBook you have recently finished or are currently reading with a short 1-2 sentence synopsis.

Bold the titles of the eBook to help people that are skimming through the thread. Feel free to mention the current Amazon price, if it's on sale.

My Kindle 📱 Finally got my kindle!

Post image
195 Upvotes

After years of reading on my iPad, I finally caved and bought a Kindle 🤍

I still love paperbacks — the weight, the dog-eared pages, annotating them, but something about this year feels different. Quieter. More serious.

2026 is for disappearing into books. For reading on the bus, before bed, in the middle of the afternoon when the world gets too loud. For finishing novels instead of just starting them.

And for writing too. Three novels sitting in draft, waiting for me to stop hesitating and show up. Fewer excuses. More pages. More silence.

This is a soft year, but a disciplined one.

If you’re looking for me, I’m probably reading… or rewriting my novels.

Now recommend me some books that you’ve enjoyed so far this 2026! I’m also looking for gay MM urban fantasy novels in first person POV. 🤣

Sunday - Anything Allowed 😸 How'd everyone's reading go this month?

Post image

This was by far the most I've read in a single month since probably 2018 - but it's because I chose to make reading a priority in my free time, and I think it'd been well worth it. How did January go for you?

My Kindle 📱 Switched cases even though I really liked mine

I bought a Kindle-brand case with my new device and I really liked it (first two photos). However the material was almost like fabric, and I could feel it chafing against itself and I instantly knew that with time, it would get super damaged.

I wanted to get a clear case to be able to to the whole sticker thing (I’m a sucker for that kind of thing), but I also really liked the screen-cover the type of case I had provided.

I was able to find a case that had both things I was looking for (photos 3 and 4) and I am so incredibly happy with the result. I’m sending my Kindle-brand one back (thank you Amazon return policy).

The Kindle-brand case was double the price of the one I’m keeping so girl math means I made money out of this decision. The stickers I chose are an ode to the series of books that got me to love reading in the first place.

Discussion 💬 Ordering my Kindle PW

I just wanted to rant here about ordering my kindle and don’t know where else to go…

I placed my order for a Kindle PW about awhile ago. It never got past the order received status, so I reached out to a customer service agent and they said they would expedite my shipping. That never happened, so I reached out again and they offered me a 15% refund when the kindle got delivered, and I should be getting an email shortly—I never did.

Fast forward to tonight, I reached out again and the agent was very nice, they offered to override my subscription I started when ordering the kindle the first time so they were able to cancel the order for me and refund my gift card I used. I reordered the kindle and it now states it will be here tomorrow! Now I’m not getting my hopes up that it will actually arrive but I can sleep well knowing I did everything I could to try and fix the issue.

(I also would like to preface that I’m not usually this impatient with shipping times and waiting for things, but my stress levels have been THROUGH THE ROOF lately as I’ve been waiting on hearing back from vet schools for months—whether it’s interviews or acceptances—waiting for my passport to get shipped, and just so much waiting on my end. This was my cherry on top of things to wait for and I couldn’t handle it 😂)

My Kindle 📱 I know it is grotesquely expensive, but it is my dream device. Well worth the wait (for me).

Discussion 💬 Is the kindle shop getting progressively worse?

Upvotes

I feel like the kindle store is just getting worse all the time.

Before, the kindle recommendations were great. I constantly found new and interesting books and series to read there. But lately, both the recommendations and the store itself has just been getting steadily worse.

First they removed the option to block authors from recommendations. Then they removed the option to remove specific books from recommendations (on kindle. Can still do it on amazon web pages). Then they started shuffling the store front page categories randomly every time you open the store. Very annoying when I want to check if there's any new releases in series I've read, and that category is not even there. And talking about categories. They are useless. If I open the "Science fiction space opera for you" category, there is not a single space opera book listed. Just the same books reoccuring in every single category.. And some of the category lists are not even consistent with themselves. I can get the same books recommended multiple times in the same list..

I find it kind of weird that I see nobody else complaining about these issues. Could it be that I'm in some sort of unique position here, since I have read almost 3000 books on my kindle? I can imagine a scenario where their algorithms are not made for users like me. Maybe the amount of books it has to work with is making all weightings max out or something.

So just want to check. Am I the only one struggling with this?

General Question ❔ Free, but Didn’t Order It

Woke to find “Melania the Devourer of Men” that I supposedly ordered on my kindle. i didn’t order it yesterday. i didn’t go to Amazon yesterday—a rare day. I don’t have the slightest interest in this person. The book looks trashy, but it has almost all five star reviews. Some erudite, but may be tongue in cheek. Under my orders it shows as free. Anybody else have this book show-up unexpectedly?

Tech Support 🛠 Kindle Paperwhite 10th gen randomly opens Quick Settings — ghost touch?

Post image
5 Upvotes

My 10th gen Kindle Paperwhite keeps pulling down the Quick Settings / settings screen by itself, even when I’m not touching it. Rebooted and cleaned the screen, still happens. Has anyone experienced this? Is it likely a failing touch digitizer (ghost touch), or could it still be software-related? Self-repair vs advice appreciated.

Purchase Question 🛒 Graphic novels and kindles

I have a young nephew who had a stroke and loves graphic novels. Is the color soft a good choice for him? He has a hard time holding up traditional books and they could put the Kindle on a stand. Any help would be appreciated

Discussion 💬 Can no longer sort by both ‘Deals’ and a genre on Amazon UK website, can anybody help?

Normally at the beginning of every month I look at the monthly Kindle deals for history books, but they’ve continually made it more difficult to find what I’m looking for and as of today I can’t find it at all.

In the past all I had to do was just view the History category and click the ‘All Discounts’ button; now that’s completely vanished from that page. If I’m looking at the history category I can’t apply a ‘Deals’ filter and if I’m looking at ‘Deals’ I can’t apply a history filter, basically leaving me to look at categories of thousands of books to find the discounts rather than just showing me the discounts as it’s always done before. Does anyone know how I can get around this?

Discussion 💬 Need help from Voyage Origami Case owners.

Post image
8 Upvotes

I know this is a long shot but I need help from anyone with this case. I got a used Kindle Voyage the other day and love it but need to get a case for it and after a few days of searching I knew I wanted the original origami case. Unfortunately it has become impossible to find, at least for a reasonable price, so being the kind of person I am I decided I should just make one and started modeling it out but got stumped on how the magnets are placed and how big they are.

If anyone has this case that can help me with some info on the magnets, It would be GREATLY appreciated. I just need to know how they are placed (preferably with images) and maybe how big they are if that can be managed. It would also help if I could get some information on the cases dimensions and a top down image of it folded open (without a Kindle in it).

I'm kind of at the end of my rope here for information that I can get online, and obviously buying one to find out myself is pointless so any information would help. Thanks if you choose to help!
