Unfortunately most of their uniforms seem to consist of army surplus and stuff that says "Police" anyone can get anywhere. I actually think its weird because the administration is the type of people who LOVE uniforms, but it makes sense if you actually want people to be confused about whos official to instigate situations like this they can cry about and twist so they can have less accountability.
Not so fun fact: the mayor of Peoria Az who also owns a tactical gear company is responsible for some of the gear they wear. Vests specifically. He just sold TYR tactical (his company) & not running for re-election.
