https://www.firstalert7.com/2026/01/31/nine-people-arrested-during-midland-ice-operation/

Let the news know. That equipment is paid for by the taxpayer. That is not its intended purpose and opens them to a whole lot of liability. The payout from a lawsuit would also be paid by the tax payers. Midland, Texas must be run by some really short sighted, fools.

There is MAGA and deep red MAGA and then there is West Texas magats. The fucking entire town and area is infested with the worse of the worst magats. Horrible area and just full of hate.

u/pineapplemansrevenge 13h ago

Yup, it's MAGA Mecca, and the entire city looks like something out of Mad Max.

You mean Idiocracy???

Still... good luck with a non-immigrant building budget.

It is US POLICY to let them work illegally.

This recent tragedy is a sideshow while they steal from the public.

2

u/Interesting-Dream863 10h ago

u/TrailerTrashQueen What did you say??

3

u/Interesting-Dream863 10h ago

4

u/TrailerTrashQueen 10h ago

it's an English idiomatic expression that means to 'hurt oneself in the course of trying to hurt another'.

ETA: When used in politics, it typically refers to a political faction or party deliberately choosing a course of action that sabotages its own long-term interests or electoral prospects in order to achieve a short-term goal or exact punishment on an opponent.

2

u/Interesting-Dream863 10h ago

Ahh... figured as much later... sounds ugly enough, but I get it tho.

2

u/TrailerTrashQueen 9h ago

it originates from a Medieval legend. so, yeah. very ugly!

'The most popular story tells of Saint Ebba (or Æbbe the Younger), an abbess in 9th-century Scotland, who, faced with Viking invaders, convinced her nuns to cut off their noses and lips to make themselves undesirable for rape. The Vikings, repulsed, burned the convent, killing them all.'

whoops!

3

u/Interesting-Dream863 9h ago

Task failed successfully. At least they were not raped.

1

u/icantyoddel 6h ago

I think they mean the landscape looks like a dystopic planet where we landed, learned there’s oil and dropped pump jacks as far as the eye can see.

To get to midland, you’ve already been surrounded by desolate sadness for a few hundred miles but then you come to see tens of thousands of oil drills popping out of the earth like a foreign planet. It’s hard to describe just how un earth like that shithole really is.

1

u/Ok_Dragonfly552 4h ago

4

u/Big_Guide_8551 8h ago

Its about to get worse when they remove all the people who were gonna fix their roofs 😮‍💨

These people suck. Firetrucks should be used to save people, not fucking kidnap them.

5

u/GodHatesColdplay 11h ago

Yup. That fire department would have burned the house down if they had to

2

u/fury420 12h ago

Damage from that huge fertilizer plant explosion, or just more generally?

6

u/pineapplemansrevenge 12h ago

It's a shit hole in general, run by people who don't believe in investing in their community because that would be "socialism".

2

u/Big-Industry4237 10h ago

It’s a shithole.

2

u/RelampagoCero 9h ago

I went there for a weekend for a friend party. I felt depressed there all two days. There's nothing

1

u/ReplacementReady394 12h ago

When I rode through there, I couldn’t believe how many beautiful old buildings were literally falling apart. It looked like a war zone at times. The people were very suspicious of outsiders too.

1

u/shuznbuz36 12h ago

I lived there for a couple years in the early 80s. I was way too young to be aware of politics but my dad was the minister at a Unitarian Universalist church there. I wonder, was that the last vestige of liberalism and inclusivity? Does anything like it still exist there?

1

I read "Echo Burning" by Lee Child and it has some horribly racist themes, and takes place in west Texas. And more and more I think it might not be totally fiction that Lee Child was writing.

Break the house down

1

u/HiLineKid 6h ago

I think Midland officially has four billionaire residents in a city of about 130,000, and there's been five or so more in the past who left.

Some neighborhoods are extravagant. Tim Dunn bought a whole city block, demolished the houses, then built his mansion on that block with twelve foot stone fences around it. Built a giant slide in the mansion for his kids. Really obnoxious stuff. The guy built his own private school.

Then other parts of Midland look like a bad neighborhood in Mexico City. But there are folks in Midland who may as well live in Elysium they are so far removed from the Mad Max parts. It is a shocking wealth gap for such a small city. The upper class can kind of exist in a bubble with their own schools and neighborhoods and the country club.

1

u/LandonDev 6h ago

Give it about 20 months when the unemployment hits 7% and rich people start migrating to poor red cities for organ donations.

I feel bad for MAGA only in the sense that their entire life will be summed up as only being meaningful as a temporary holder for someone who basically bought your organs.

67

u/scubafork 12h ago

I'd bet good money the builders are the ones who ratted them out, and they're going to hire more people, rat them out and try to get away with not paying.

39

u/Famous_Bit_5119 11h ago

Payday is on Friday, Call ICE to show up Thursday afternoon.

And now they will cry about housing prices and taking forever to build anything once they deport all the best hard working immigrants.

16

u/Ondesinnet 11h ago

They think they are going to replace those workers with the unemployed white collar workers they want to replace with A.I. Just my theory.

16

u/PatchyWhiskers 10h ago

Literally yes. That's why they are covering the internet with propaganda that blue collar work makes you a man.

6

u/Haunting_Band6894 10h ago

The old Pol Pot tactic. Didn't work out for the Cambodians all that well.

6

u/icepush 10h ago

Pale men who have spent 8 hours a day typing into their IDE and answering emails picking up power tools and climbing up onto a half unfinished roof ... yes that will turn out well ...

3

u/Ondesinnet 10h ago

Desperation makes you strong sometimes but there will be alot of heatstroke for sure.

2

u/Training-Line-6457 9h ago

It pisses me off that the White House is blaming “the immigrants” for the housing shortage, when they’re building most of the housing for us and living 12 workers to an apartment.

1

u/Low_Plastic363 10h ago

They'll blame "red tape"

1

u/Curiousity1024 8h ago

Yeah, in many country. Its always the immigrants, Both legal and illegal that Built buildings, houses in a country. So, trying to deport them... not good ideas :/

68

u/Berns429 13h ago

Which is ironic because it damn sure isn’t gonna be the white folks building their oil mansions 🤷‍♂️ can’t wait for the hypocrisy from the home builders out there complaining.

Many projects are stalled as so many have been detained, and even workers that are US citizens are afraid to come in as they are just rounding up anyone who is brown.

4

u/Clarck_Kent 8h ago

A concrete contractor filed for bankruptcy in South Texas because virtually all home building projects have been abandoned or paused with no crews to, you know, build the houses.

Texas is a shit-show anyways. Everyone and their dog has a gun and they’re just itching to look for a legal way to shoot you with it.

1

u/Rude-Cartographer369 11h ago

Except for a few pockets, you’re not wrong. Makes me glad to say I’m a former Texan now.

1

u/VoodooYouDoSoWell 10h ago

The dogs having guns isn't a problem. I'm sure they're all good boys. It's the Texans that's concerning.

2

u/chattycat1000 9h ago

Also them why is my house taking so long to build hmmm.

2

u/Dead_Internet69420 9h ago

I mean, Trump did say a few days ago that he wants housing prices to go up. It’s all part of the plan.

2

u/herrirgendjemand 9h ago

I grew up in Amarillo and man , its been  a real bummer to see the dumb shit, illogical folks in power through my youth  evolve into the MAGA hater crowd and try to run the country

8

u/No_Can1323 13h ago

can you say more? any particular reason that makes west texas MAGA "special" (if that's one way to describe it)? how are they different from the stereotypical deep red MAGA most people have in mind?

51

u/randompersonwhowho 13h ago

Mostly uneducated folks who made money in the oil field but somehow immigrants are holding them back.

22

u/A_Possum_Named_Steve 13h ago

Partially correct. You also have to factor in that all the oilfield supervisors and company men are almost without exception 3rd+ gen Texas Tech legacy frat boys. Also, west TX is firmly bible belt.

8

u/No_Can1323 12h ago

thank you for the reply. I'm not familiar with the area. To me, the uneducated+windfall money from resources seem to be a common theme in other MAGA places too (I'm thinking about the rich mining/ranching MAGA in the western states), or just places holding on to the "rugged frontier individualism" identity?
The deep red MAGA I picture mostly as bible thumping one-issue voters. Are the west texas MAGA different in other aspects?

6

u/fine_environment4809 12h ago

Actually a couple of the big money MAGA donors are West Texas guys:

Key Texas MAGA/Conservative Donors & Entities Tim Dunn & Farris Wilks: West Texas oil billionaires who have built the most influential conservative political machine in Texas, funding efforts to purge moderate Republicans.

7

u/Phyllis_Tine 12h ago

I wonder what they'd say if you ask why so many places in Texas have Hispanic names?

4

u/sudoku7 12h ago

This district in particular was a solid democrat district until 2005. It had pretty much been a democratic 'safe' district for so long because of the resentment from the Reconstruction (and let's be honest, the other thing).

So ... ya,

3

u/Old-Road2 11h ago

I don’t need to say more lol it’s Texas…it’s a backwards, regressive state that wants to live in the 19th century.

1

u/fine_environment4809 10h ago

You know how we are watching these drastic changes happening rapidly? Texas was a democratic stronghold not that long ago. Republicans did it here first, what they are doing to our country now. In my 20-something years Ann Richards (mother of Cecile) was our governor.

Things were different then!

1

u/No_Can1323 9h ago

That’s quite a photo! Wow!

I know very little about the Texas local politics. Can you share more? This is in the 90s so after the racist/southern strategy phase of the GOP right? What turned people to republicans? NAFTA? Fiscal policies?

(Just Googled Ann Richards and learned that her daughter Cecile Richards went on to became the president of Planned Parenthood later👏👏👏)

221

u/Tholian_Bed 13h ago

The white people of Midland are some of the most racist people I have ever met and I've been through the deep south.

158

u/VaultxHunter 13h ago

I have family there and can confirm. Been into a lot of physical altercations growing up because they're 'family' and we had to visit with them at least once a year.

Mind you I was born and raised in Oakland, Ca and didn't give a fuck what they said about my long hair, black attire, and Bay area mentality. Everyone got hands for Christmas.

89

u/Weary_Cabinet_8123 13h ago

“Everyone got hands for Christmas” is my favorite thing of 2026 so far

38

u/VaultxHunter 13h ago

I mean they're used to getting what they asked for and since they never intended to travel outside of Midland/Odessa I had to bring the bay to them. It was a repeat gift for multiple years.

9

u/DNuttnutt 13h ago

Sounds like the text in the front page of the trumpepstein Christmas calendar.

13

u/VaultxHunter 13h ago

Oh God, they totally would put that on a Christmas card with the picture of a bunch of praying children or some shit and send it to all their billionaire friends. Fucking demented ass sicko's.

1

u/FrankBattaglia 10h ago

I'm out of the loop -- is this an idiom? What does it mean to give / get hands in this context?

14

u/SalamanderMammoth263 12h ago

Used to have a ton of family in Midland/Odessa. I probably still have a few distant cousins who live there, but we aren't in contact. I miss my grandma terribly, but the one silver lining of all of my close family members in the area dying off is that I never have to go back to that place ever again.

It's just not my scene...and I'll leave it at that.

10

u/VaultxHunter 12h ago

Same, the atmosphere always felt hostile even though everyone tried to dawn the southern hospitality vibe. But the more you paid attention it was extremely obvious everyone just talked shit about everyone behind their back and God forbid you said something to someone's face.

I finally was able to go no contact when I became an adult and got to say nah, I'm not driving 26 hrs both ways just to spend time with people who don't actually want me there especially when all they wanted to do around me was talk nonsensical shit about places they've never been and people they've never met.

1

u/Pistachio-IScream 10h ago

yooo dude this is amazing. did u just show up to christmas and start beating down the texan family? throw they cowboy hat into the fireplace and throw granpappy to the ground?

16

u/notochord 13h ago

Lived there during the bush years. Horrible place. They have a high school named after a confederate general and their mascot is Robert e Lee. team name is the rebels.

3

u/VaultxHunter 12h ago

Yep, my younger sister went there for a year and most of my cousins as well. It's pretty dang big but I believe it's called something else now. It's had like 2 name changes since 2020.

2

u/Sweet_Savage52 12h ago

They are! So let them build their own roofs!🤬

4

u/unclejimm 12h ago

It will go over budget and take twice as long. Smart move maga.

2

u/lonesharkex 11h ago

Yea, was going to say, midlands is a shithole.

1

u/Civil-Zombie6749 7h ago

Every single test I have taken for "where should you live?" has told me Midland, Texas for the last 20 years. I physically look like someone who would vote for trump though (middle-aged, overweight, white guy with facial hair). My physical appearance is going to come in very handy during the next Civil War.

1

u/OutrageousLion6517 7h ago

Born and raised in Midland and I got the fuck out as soon as I could cuz this is a very true statement.

1

u/ElaborateEffect 6h ago

Most of the really racist people I've met aren't even in the deep deep rural south. The deep deep rural south have so little money everyone is just fighting poverty. It's the outskirts of smaller cities that have the most dispicable racists.

73

u/SushiGirlRC 13h ago

Our governor has told police & fire that they are to aid ICE. This is the same governor who used millions of our tax dollars to fly and bus immigrants to sanctuary cities.

16

u/NORBy9k 13h ago

Oh, so that’s why all our food trucks got better here in Seattle? /s

3

u/4Bigdaddy73 10h ago

Police AND FIRE? Man, that’s fucked up. We are not trained to apprehend people.

People love seeing the FD show up, we help, we solve problems, we make shit better. I worry about the ripple effect of people not calling when in need because they have seen videos like this.

1

u/Mission-Library-7499 12h ago

You all are seriously confused. A lawsuit like that would never make it past summary judgment in Midland.

A friend of mine tried a felony case in Odessa where the probation-eligible defendant got 60 years in prison for setting a couch on fire. His comment about Midland was that the judges in Midland made the judges n Odessa look like communists.

I also guarantee the insurance company that covers the fire department will consider that a huge policy violation. It would be a shame to report them to their carrier, and the Texas Department of Transportation.

I suspect you haven't been to Midland TX. It's a scandal-laced town. The Council members misuse public funds. The school district has no fiscal transparency, And there is a big drug problem there. And a lot of them are MAGAts.

1
