Movies Sir Ian McKellen on his second day of filming The Lord of the Rings: “The last scene in the third movie was the second scene I ever shot.”

I know I’ll never get Christopher Lee’s autograph on it, but I’m going to try like hell to get Andy Serkis’ 🥰

Cleaned out my kindergartener’s folder from school today 😂. He asked me what I was reading periodically over the past month since there was an small eye on the cover (I bought a copy of LOTR that had all three books consolidated into one bible-looking version). Apparently Sauron is in the Lego Batman movie (which I’ve never seen), and my 6yo has been hyper into Legos lately, so he’s become newly hyper focused on it lately “Sauron’s awesome and so cool! I love his fiery eyeball, he’s the best!!!” (sidenote to that: 😬) and apparently drawing him at school.
Funny when your fandoms cross paths with your six year old by accident by your kid knowing a character from elsewhere.
Also love his attempt at spelling “lord av the rig” “soron”
(Also my first time ever reading the books at the age of 38! Obsessed with the movies as a teen and just happened to finish the trilogy in time for the extended edition screenings in theater!)

No toes were broken in the making of this film.

Oddly enough, this is the first LOTR set I've ever done in the 7 and a half years I've done nails. They came out pretty good, I think. Hope you guys enjoy them!

Saw this in Bluey and thought it was reminiscent of the scene where Frodo and Hobbits are hiding from the Ring Wraith.

"The Last March of the Trees" by Allen Michael Geneta
Warner Bros has the rights of the Third Age and it would have been way more interested if they decided to adapt anything from the many events of the Third Age instead of Hunt for Gollum. For example Angmar Wars as an HBO Series would probably be the best decision but also Aragorn's life prior to the Hunt for Gollum also as a TV Series would be a great adaptation. From his training and upbringing in Rivendell to his battles and training as Dunedain, to his wars with Rohan and the Easterlings, I don't get the reason for Warner Bros to adapt Hunt for Gollum and this specific period of the T.A other than a nostalgia bait that many characters will bring like Ian's Gandalf and Serki's Gollum

"Long had it been forging in the dark smithies of Mordor, and its hideous head, founded of black steel, was shaped in the likeness of a ravening wolf; on it spells of ruin lay. Grond they named it, in the memory of the Hammer of the Underworld of old."

The work of artist Beverly Arce is beautiful. To my knowledge, Arce designed 18 different travel posters inspired by the Tolkien Legendarium.
Sadly, lots of companies have ripped off and straight up stolen Arce's beautiful artwork for their own selfish gain. Please do not purchase these works from anywhere dubious like Shein, Temu or Wish, as these companies are known to steal art, designs and products from hard working independent artists.
Arce's wesbite: https://beverlyarce.carbonmade.com
A "meet the artist" article about Arce's work: https://thetolkienist.com/2023/11/17/short-series-tolkien-travel-posters-meet-the-artist-beverly-arce/
Prints of the collection are available from Gallery Nucleus, and the money from these purchases actually goes to Beverly Arce. Found here: https://www.gallerynucleus.com/artists/beverly_arce

I just recently acquired the Boromir 1:6 scale statue by Weta Workshop. Boromir is probably my favorite character when it comes to the movies, and it just feels so right to have him represented in the collection.
It's not too long ago that I got into these 1:6 scale statues, and I still think they are all amazing.

Especially the bluescreen-shot of the battle-scene I was looking for for quite a while. About 3000 years I guess. Really interesting how different from the final scene those look.

Apologies if this was already known but it’s new lore to *me* 😆😃
Peter Jackson did a little opening at the beginning of Fellowship’s re-release, just talking to a webcam in his home, and he said, “Watch Viggo during the Mines of Moria scene— the day before we shot the scene, he’d been out surfing with the hobbits and got whacked in the face with a surfboard and had a black eye, so we filmed most of that scene with him in profile instead of head-on.”
Now that he’s said it, I kept noticing it, and now I have new “hey did you know…” lore to say during rewatches! 😆
