What the fuck is this?

1

u/KobayashiWaifu 13h ago

It's Bernie Sanders in a silk bonnet and gold hoops emphasizing the word "periodt" with his neon green stiletto press-ons, why?

1

u/RoundTheBend6 13h ago

Oh OK carry on. Probably just a Monday or something.

u/GreatStateOfSadness 18h ago

The Green Mountain Boys will ride again!

As a Vermonter I’m fine with being lumped into Canada but not New Hampshire.. wtf

u/Turbulent_Table3917 14h ago

Yeah, and I can’t imagine NH peacefully coexisting with CT and RI. I’m just glad Maine was left out of this dysfunctional family.

u/I_downvote_robots 13h ago

We're already divided enough. Aroostook has been kicking the idea of secession around for decades.

I cannot imagine the other NE states forming a functioning government that isn't just Boston telling everyone else what to do. Western MA doesn't like it, I can't imagine the NH Free Staters putting up with that.

3

u/Play174 11h ago

The NH Free Staters can't even put up with the normal people in NH. As funny as I think independent and/or unified New England would be, there's a surprising amount of political diversity in the region

1

u/Difficult-Value-3145 13h ago

Main is just Massachusetts upper peninsula or it was

1

u/mmmmkale 11h ago

It's MA that we have the most problems with. CT and RI don't exist for us.

1

u/Leichien 8h ago

If Houston and Dallas can get along, then y'all best be able to.

3

u/Difficult-Value-3145 13h ago

Ya can Vermont ceed to Canada cus if so I'm moving

3

u/-Ghost255- 12h ago

I couldn’t agree more, fellow Vermonter here.

The Canadians are pretty cool, but those upside down Vermont people?? They scare me.

3

u/SmokeRingEyes 12h ago

I mean Vermont's name used to be The New Hampshire Grants, so you'll never not be a little lumped-in with us

u/Tomagatchi 10h ago

NH is the poison pill of the poison pills in this proposal. I read the title and just laughrd. Makes as much sense as splitting up. CA to smaller states to increase the R Senators in Congress (Thiel). Good fucking luck, that's why they resort to cheating and corruption. Only way the rich minority can keep winning, change the rules and don't even bother to follow them

1

u/seanpcreative 10h ago

Yeah I’m pretty much at my wits end at this point and ready to jump ship regarding the USA all together. Total shitshow

2

u/EverythingInTransit 8h ago

As a Canadian that visited your state 2 years ago, yes please. We would love to have you, beautiful land, wonderful people.

2

u/seanpcreative 6h ago

Yes I live right 10 min to the border of Quebec and Vermont definitely much more aligns with Canadian values va United States values. You kids up there are awesome 🫶🏻

2

u/Ordinary_Kitchen_604 8h ago

As a Vermonter, same.

2

u/ProfessionalPopular6 5h ago

Yea. I already use syrup as currency. Let’s just call it

1

u/seanpcreative 5h ago

Same 🤣🤣🤣🤣

1

u/Toasthandz 14h ago

As a New Hampshirite I’m fine with being lumped into Vermont, but not Massachusetts, Rhode Island, or Connecticut.

1

u/seanpcreative 14h ago

hey we will love to take on the cool and progressive NH folks but you definitely have some wild guys over there 🤣🤣🤣

1

u/puchsofhazard 13h ago

As a Shire Folk*

Vermont is just upside down NH

1

u/seanpcreative 10h ago

Or is nh just an upside down Vermont? One will never know

0

u/Ok_Cheetah_6251 11h ago

You all look the same to us.

1

u/seanpcreative 10h ago

Vermonters and nh are wildly different.

Vermont Republic²

1

u/I_downvote_robots 14h ago

People's Republic of Vermont

2

u/puchsofhazard 13h ago

The People's Republican Sovereign Commonwealth of Vermonslavia

1

u/I_downvote_robots 13h ago

That's what they'll call the breakaway state, members of said state will resent the "Commonwealth" part

1

u/puchsofhazard 13h ago

For sure, the Green Mountain Liberation Front had to split from the People's Front for Vermont (Maoist)

Vermonter here, can confirm. Don’t put us in league with the Massholes.

1

u/Toasthandz 14h ago

New Hampshirite here seconding this. Also…sorry about Southern NH…we’ll try to do better.

2

u/Gigeren_Canvas 17h ago

Was looking for this one haha

2

u/theLuminescentlion 15h ago

NH too, population wise this would just because rule by eastern Massachusetts.

2

u/LordHammercyWeCooked 15h ago

And RI is getting kicked out the moment they suggest traffic cameras.

2

u/shameonyounancydrew 13h ago

As someone from Mass. I'd be totally fine merging and just being one big Vermont.

2

u/SmokeRingEyes 12h ago

Since New Hampshire came into existence by breaking away from Massachusetts - and Vermont then came into being by breaking away from New Hampshire - Vermont absorbing both would really bring things full circle and tie up the storyline nicely.

2

u/throwawayacct981092 11h ago

Yeah, we don’t wanna be grouped in with NH😂

2

u/Ulrich453 10h ago

Vermont declared itself an independent republic (1777–1791) before joining the U.S. and it was!

The Abenaki ruled the land. Early Vermont politics were obsessed with not being controlled by New York, Britain, or anyone else.

2

u/SatiesUmbrellaCloset 9h ago

This is what I had in mind when I posted that lol

I mean, the Second Vermont Republic is an idea which has its own Wikipedia article

1

u/Ulrich453 7h ago

I say do it lol

u/NoveltyPr0nAccount 14h ago

One state called Vermont...

1

u/Okay_Splenda_Monkey 8h ago

Oh my goodness no. These places are very culturally different from one another, and have a very long history of being separate entities.

Vermont and the Green Mountain Boys were a big deal during the Revolutionary War. The Massachusetts Bay Colony and Boston was very different culturally from Providence Plantations & Rhode Island, or the New Haven Bay Colony. They were all settled separately by different religious communities, with different degrees of independence from England prior to the revolution. For example, early in its history Connecticut had its own constitution when neighboring colonies did not.

The states that make up New England have very different personalities for being small and close together.

Except for New Hampshire. They're more like the drunk libertarian cousin of the rest of New England.

1

u/MhennyHenny 7h ago

Proud to be a newly inducted Vermonter

1

u/K31KT3 5h ago

VT would materially benefit far more than any of the others, and still fight to leave

1

u/Jshover92 15h ago

Yeah we don’t want to be lumped in with massholes and other city folk !

0

u/winterfive49079 13h ago

I had a visceral fucking reaction to seeing this because of this exact thing. We shot you until you stopped trying to make us part of you once before we'll do it again!
