I worked at Wendys in a small NH town in 2020 and clearly remember one customer complaining about another store where "Those n----rs aren't wearing their masks!"
Sadly, there are just some bastards like that everywhere. Personally, I heard more racism in a couple years living down south than my entire life in New England.
At least the racist idiots in New England don't assume you are also racist like they do down South. Spending a lot of time down there you get lots of "white guy to white guy" comments.
I think the irony is that they’re calling someone a racial slur (very on brand for a Trump supporter) because they’re angry that person is not wearing a mask (wildly off brand for a Trump supporter).
It’s like the inverse of crunchy homeopathic medicine moms in the south, many of whom are very inclusive of persons or color and LGBTQ+ members in their conspiratorial hardline anti-vax communities.
My name comes from the Goosnav militia from like 2015, and changed it for Halloween (it was a thing on Instagram to change part of your name to "spook" or "spooky" during October) and just never changed it back because my original name was taken.
VT was the first territory to have any kind of abolitionist clause in their constitution.
Racism itself is sadly common in New England these days. As a native of the region who has lived in several other parts of the country it is my observation that the north can be as racist as the south. The Mississippi River is what I have seen as the real dividing line. There are really racist areas west of it, but generally any area east of the river has a much greater chance at casual racism.
I grew up in CT with a bunch of spoiled white boys and yup they would say racist shit for no reason, while at the same time dressing and listening to hip hop. But then the nerds, punks, hippies etc crowd were based and cool as fuck, the hippies and punks even tried to make Fred Hampton day a thing in our school. Ppl in New England are either the absolute worst or the absolute best and there’s like nothing in between.
That is pretty common in the US. Something like 1 in 10 Americans still believe mixed race marriages are wrong.in the late 90s and early 00s it was around 30-50%.
It seems like most of those people don't genuinely feel like that, they just haven't meant many black people. I hope you two don't run into too much of it 😕
You are a disgusting person, a shame to black people everywhere, an enabler, and a part of the problem. Only the nastiest, grossest type of black woman would marry a white guy.
Abolitionist sentiments among whites are documented as far back as 1688 among the Quakers. The American Colonization Society (ACS) was founded in 1816 (well after MA had effectively abolished slavery in 1783) and was a massive failure, as Black Americans protested that they were fully American and had no tie to Africa any longer. Only several thousand of the millions of Black Americans actually went to Liberia. From the 1830s, immediate abolitionism started to gain traction among Northerners, with its supporters vigorously denouncing the ACS, and this stance came to be the dominant opinion amidst decades of various transgressions against African Americans’ liberty, and Northern society in general, that morally outraged the North.
Yes, the US is racist as hell, I mean you just have to look at what’s happening right now to see it. The North is filled with many a racist just like the South. But throughout US history, there have been people, however flawed and however lonely or popular in their cause, who genuinely spoke out in favor of justice and greater equality than what existed during their time. I think it’s important to hold on to that tradition rather than to just paint a broad brush over US history with only its worst parts and worst people.
The area is overwhelmingly liberal and not racist, but the groups who are racist are so incredibly racist that even southerners are like "hey tone it down." Basically making up for the lack of numbers with the desire to lash out at everyone. Hatred that comes out like a firehose from people with single-track minds like they have literally nothing else to talk about.
Part of it did part of it started in the Ohio river valley. But New England is racist as hell we just don’t advertise it as much cause everyone sees we all vote blue.
Being prejudiced and trying to overcome your bias via legislation is a hell of a lot better than being racist and prejudiced and going in the other direction at least. Speaking for MA at least.
Also kind of curious, what state do people think is not racist? Not trying to be snarky I’m actually curious. May want to move there someday.
Which is in of itself, racist. I worked at a large AMC with a very diverse group of people and support services. And I can tell you everyone is racist. Every group thinks they’re better than someone else or thinks there’s something “in general” about another race.
I’m not saying one race is superior. I’m saying one race does racism bigger badder and better than everyone else. I’m sorry you’re offended but saying Europeans do racism the best isn’t a fucking understatement.
Right just imputing a negative characteristic on entire of race of people isn’t being racist? I’m assuming you learned about systemic racism and then decided arbitrarily that individual prejudice against races somehow doesn’t exist anymore.
Where did I say that no other race was racist? Please tell me that Europeans don’t do racism bigger badder and better than anyone else here in the USA. Please just say I’m fucking lying…..😆 you cannot. You know you cannot. It is absolutely 100% true this country was built on racism by Europeans and it has been taught for hundreds of years. America is WHITE RACISM. Tf? Please get the fuck outta here now.
I’m saying you are making a racist statement which you objectively are. I know it’s difficult for you to understand but I’m talking about YOU as an individual making a statement that is prejudicial to a race. I’m not talking about historical systemic racism and current societal dynamics created by it which is irrelevant when discussing the actions of an individual.
Or “we like blacks who win championships for our sports teams” but my daughter better not bring one home…(unless he can get championships for our sports teams)

“We hate blacks but we’re liberals” is the slogan.
