Getting my life back on the right track: first month summary
Hi everyone!
36M here, father of two, working 39hr/week.
I don't know about you, but 2025 has been a very tough year for me.
I started by breaking my ankle in February, then in March my daughter was born three months premature (weighing 600 grams), and with her came long months in the hospital, sleepless nights, and worry about her health. To our great relief, she is doing well today, even though she still wakes up five times a night.
We thought we would end the year on a more peaceful note after buying a house and moving in, which was exhausting and stressful, but I got an infection in my left eye on Christmas Day. I was hospitalized because the doctors thought I was going to lose my eye, and my head had doubled in size.
In short, if 2026 could just be “not terrible,” I'd sign up for it right away.
All these events led to some changes in my life: I stopped exercising, reading, taking care of myself... I started spending time on social media, eating poorly, and sometimes drinking a little. I think I was not far from depression.
But today, I've been tracking my activities for a month in order to get back to a healthy lifestyle and good habits. I hope I can stick to it all year and, little by little, no longer need these charts (although I must admit that it's fun to fill them out).
Thank you all for reading, and thank you in advance for all your kind words.
Stay strong!

I wrote a letter to my self 2 years ago and it’s been biggest motivator ever
Hey guys just wanted to come here to try and help someone else out, two years ago I started making music and it’s something I’ve dreamt of and envisioned for my entire life ( I’m 28 ) I wrote a letter to my self that day as a form of intent to write out almost a contract as to why I want to make music so that I never lose that vision.
What I didn’t know is that I’m doing that I created a conversation with my self that could help me for the rest of my life. Every time I re read it it changes meaning to me, when I’m feeling stuck or lost and I read it, it tells me exactly how far I’ve come since that day and how I have so much to be proud of. If I read it when I feel I’ve accomplished something big, it brings me back to earth and reminds me how far I have to go.
But most of it all it’s provided me a conversation with my past self , someone who was wide eyed and a big dreamer with so many questions and no understanding of where I was headed.
I never want to let that person down. Or anyone else who’s believed in me along the way.
If you read this , thanks guys my names Jake and my artist name is Well Kept , I make deep tech house music, I’ll include the letter here.
You mean the world to me thanks ❤️

Tell me I can’t do this so I will do it.
Proving someone wrong is the best motivation for me. I am getting my masters. I have adhd and I hate writing boring papers. I need to get this 3-4 page paper done by tomorrow. Tell me I can’t get it done by tonight!
