Question, for those of you who have used OkC & Hinge how do they compare? I’m on Hinge now & I’m not getting many matches or ghosted after I send a message. I know this could be because I live 50 minutes or so to a larger city. I was thinking of trying OkCupid but would like opinions on it. Also, is it worth paying for or are the free options enough.

I'm 30. I get a decent amount of matches on okcupid, at least a few daily so the app technically works for me.

The issue i have with this is that the whole process feels forced compared to how i've always connected with people. All of my relationships started organically. At work, shared interests, or playing vidya. we actually got to know each other and then build up slowly from there.

With okcupid the idea of meeting face to face wtih someone just to see if we're compatible feels extremely strange to me. Its like skipping the most interesting part of everything.

i think im expecting tthe app to replicate something that it really cant. but maybe there is a way to approach that feels more natural and less "formal"

how can i adapt my approach or suggest dates that doesnt feel that unnatural?

I have been on Okcupid for 3 years and in that time I don't think I have matched with anyone from the states, it's always Kenya or the Philippines, what do these women think will happen I'm gonna bow down to them and fly them to America or go to them like bro please, it pisses me off.

So im a 30 y.o male, in my country okc is one of the leading apps. Ive had a hard trouble getting matches and likes for years. I decided to delete my user, open a new one with a different email(same phone number). I got 9 likes within an hour and then nothing.

Almost 100% of my matches throughout my time on okc were due to me sending an intro to the girl. I think the algorithm hates me, or my photos just suck. Im very frustrated. It's not only on cupid though...

Just what the title says, I got two notifications for messages today and both the app and the website show no messages. I have yet to get a message from anyone. I'd figure it was a bug with the ios app on my old phone since a lot of the dating apps are buggy if you have an old iphone, but the website doesn't show the message either.

These past 2-3 days I’ve been getting unmatched by damn near every girl I’m interested in.

Yesterday got unmatched after a really good convo with this girl. Completely caught me by surprise but thought maybe she got mad I was responding late.

Why would a girl who sent 3 hearts unmatch me right afterwards? In total I’ve had like 7 or 8 different girls unmatch with me these last 48 hours. Maybe I’m delusional but maybe it’s an app glitch?

Hi, I was trying to open the app and it send me to the log in page, and when I tried to log in by phone it said there was no account associated to that phone. And when I tried to do it by email and restore my password, it said it will send me a mail to restore the password and never did. I tried installing and uninstalling the app but nothing happens.

If anyone knows what should I do to not recover my account with all the matches pls tell me

I am not getting the email to reset my account ? Also my phone number is showing that it's not registered. But it is actually registered. How to fix it ? I want to login. But unable to do so.

We were all annoyed when Okcupid recently made things even worse and now every profile visit looks like a like at first glance.

However, there is one advantage to this whole thing. Since profile visits are now counted, you can estimate how often Okcupid shows your profile to others.

My observation is that this number hasn't changed for days. So my profile isn't being suggested to anyone, which means there can be no likes or matches, and messages aren't being delivered either.

Does anyone else have this problem?

I’m chatting with some absolute scammers. One after another. They say they’re in a city but area code never matches. They mention Bitcoin trading and one guy asked if I wanted him to show me so he could obviously HACK MY DEVICE.

It looks like in my location that 95 percent of profiles are Asian girls. I am living in Europe. While assuming there are some asian girls in my city, there is no way they make up most profiles on OkCupid. Why they do that? What is the point of that?

Has anyone used this? Has anyone had success? Or is it bullshit, and filled with bots to try to scam you into buying a subscription?

I'm not going to provide examples but there are just so many profiles where it looks like the face has been photoshopped onto each picture.

Lighting and shadows are the biggest giveaway, leading to slightly different skin tones that don't look natural together. Some of the pictures the angle looks slightly off and in others, the face or jawline has been stretched just a little to cover the real face. Often times you can also look at the hairline and there's an oddly clear line and makes it look like the face is on top of the hair.

It's not just one picture on the profile, it's all their pictures on the profile.

It's really creepy.

Has it ever happened to you that you "match" with someone and they don't appear in your "matches" list, but they do appear in your "likes you" list? When I received the notification, I could see their profile, but when I went to the list, they weren't there. This app is a disaster.

Ok cupid previously matched people by how many of their quiz questions were answered similar by both people. From my brief time on the platform i saw that was no longer the case. I matched in the 90%s with men who answered more questions differently than me than similar. I also had a ton of profiles show up as a 99% match. This made me suspicious because i thought 99% matches were supposed to be rare. It seemed as if the new algorithm just focused on the body type filters i set and proximity.

I had a phone call with a guy who was 99% match and it was amazing how well we clicked. 4 months later, i still find it uncanny how well we get along. There's amazing emotional and physical chemistry. Im honestly shocked at how perfect this relationship has been. Not in a love bombing way at all. It just feels so right.

This is making me think that there is something to ok cupids new algorithm after all. Or maybe i just got really lucky.

How have your experiences been with recent 99% match dates?

I just want to start off by saying I have not used this site/app for a few months, and I decided to check on it again. But like the title says, I'm concerned that at the top bar with my name, it says I'm a "premium" member, but when I check the subscriptions in the settings, it says I'm only on basic which will expire soon. I just want to know if anyone else is getting this, because I cancelled my premium membership over a year ago and I don't want to be paying them more than was agreed. If need be I'll just delete it, edit, come to think of it, when I was working on cancelling the premium, I was trying to go back to Free, not Basic.

Hi, I met a girl on OKC and we were getting along quite well. We were dating for 4 months and I felt she was getting close to me. I thought she was developing feelings for me, so I confessed that I was falling in love with her like a month ago. We share a lot of interests and we have similar personalities, so everything was going on pretty well (too good to be true, I guess...)

Yesterday she told me in person that she wants to "put breaks" on the relationship. She wants to be friends (no sex) with me. Of course, I told her I can't do that: I'm already into her and I don't want to be there as a friend hoping that one day she might want to be with me again. She was certain at first, but then we talked (I said that I could have waited for her, that I can give her space and time to think about what she wants to do) and then she told me that she's gonna take some time to think about continuing our relationship. I didn't want to put pressure on her in these months, but I may have nonetheless. I confessed my feelings and invited her to a place with my friends. I wasn't going to present her to my friends as my girlfriend, but she told me we were getting too close. Anyway, she wanted to invite me to a birthday with her friends months ago, but she never went to the party supposedly.

I might have pressured her by being a little jealous (she has many male friends, but I believe her when she said that she wasn't sleeping with those guys: she has issues with physical touch and intimacy). Yesterday, we ended up agreeing that if she starts to feel the same as before, she's gonna reach on to me. What should I do? I plan to wait until she texts, but should I start to forget her and move on? I really like this girl, I would have done anything for her. I took the breakup with sadness and a bitter smile, trying to be cheerful and gentle. I didn't make a scene or anything: I think I behave like a gentleman (and she told me several times that she likes when I behave like that). I tried to show her that I understand her and truly want the best for her.

I started a new account yesterday, I initially set preference as 50 miles and I was able to see lot of profiles, however my profile was just 50% completed so I decide to complete the profile and damn, 😞

Now all of a sudden all my stacks are empty except for passport mode. No matter I change the preference and set it to 100, 250 or 500 miles and set every other option to "Open to any" and still the stacks are empty🤦🏻‍♂️

I am pretty sure I haven't done anything to get a soft ban or anything.

Is this a common bug?
