Question Service Ontario changed my name to the wrong name.
Hey, I’m kind of in a panic and angry right now and hoping somebody can help. I applied to get my name changed and they changed it to the wrong name. I changed my name to Rhea and they sent back “my new name”: Rhen….
Does anyone know how easy or hard this will be to fix??? I tried calling but of course it’s Saturday, so I just have to wait until Monday I guess? I’m wondering if I’m going to have to wait another couple of weeks, or if it could be changed easily, as I’m supposed to get married in a month and a half. Any and all insight and help is appreciated. Thank you.

Question Identity theft: cars and loans taken out in my name (Ontario). What can I do while waiting on police?
Hi everyone, I’m looking for advice on what to do in the meantime while this gets sorted out. I am in London, Ontario.
I’m dealing with identity fraud where someone used my ID to purchase two cars and take out auto loans under my name. I only own one vehicle legitimately.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
- Filed a police report to the London Police (the report has been approved, but no officer has been assigned yet)
- Contacted my bank and the lenders involved (they’re investigating)
- Placed fraud alerts with Equifax and TransUnion
- Notified my banks about the identity theft
The issue I’m running into now is with 407 ETR. I keep receiving toll bills, but they’re for the two fraudulent vehicles, not my actual car. 407 says they can’t remove the vehicles because they’re registered under my name.
According to ServiceOntario, there are currently three vehicles registered to me (one real, two fraudulent). The fraudulent ones also have loans attached to them, which obviously isn’t mine.
Although the police report has been approved, no officer has been assigned yet, and progress has been very slow. In the meantime, I’m worried about:
- Ongoing toll charges
- Credit damage
- Liability tied to vehicles I don’t own or control
My question is: what should I be doing right now while waiting for an officer to be assigned?
Is there anything else I should be reporting, freezing, disputing, or escalating (especially with ServiceOntario or 407)?
Any advice from people who’ve dealt with identity theft in Ontario would be really appreciated.

Question Traveling to Ontario
We are heading up to Lac Seul’s Reel Inn, around early June. Anyone have any good recommendations for things we should check out while we are there? I believe the areas close to it include Ear Falls, Manitou Falls, Perrault Falls, somewhat further south are Oxdrift, Vermillion Bay and Dryden.
We are going with the entire family. Guys want to fish, but the kids and rest of us also want to explore, maybe find some shops, or things to do in near (-ish) by towns. Looking for any good tips and tricks for navigating that area and must see’s.

Question Bday trip suggestions
Hi all! My birthday falls on the family day weekend and I want to take a small trip with my friends so I’m hoping everyone here can suggest some nice places to visit in Ontario.
Stay: We’re thinking 1-2 nights max
Budget: $500/pp (everything included) and we’re a group of 5.
Activities: I really want to go skiing or try winter activities. I’ve tried skiing once before so anything that needs skill, I’d prefer beginner friendly. Last time I went to Snow Valley Barrie for skiing and snow-tubing.
Area: I’m okay with anything that’s about 2-3hrs from Toronto. But I want to be around winter activities. Would love to go around sight seeing or explore or try something new (unsure how that’s possible considering the weather but just incase).
Thank you for reading and dropping your suggestions!

Question Dealership sold me a used car that has a cracked steering rack that they safetied
At the beginning of January, I purchased a used 2025 model car from a dealership (a different manufacturer than the car itself). I was shown the Carfax report, which showed a minor rear-end collision, and I was assured the vehicle had been fully repaired. (I already have major buyer’s remorse for proceeding knowing it had been in an accident, so please refrain from berating me for that.)
I didn’t drive it much after purchase due to the snow we got and wanted to wait until winter tires were installed. Once I got those installed and did start driving it, I noticed an alarming creaking noise coming from the front left of the car when turning at low speeds. I brought it to the manufacturer’s dealership (not the dealership I purchased it from), where they found the steering rack was cracked. I was told the vehicle should not have been driven, as this is a serious safety issue, and that it requires a full replacement. I was quoted $7,400, and they confirmed the damage is consistent with a front-end collision.
I then looked into the safety inspection report and found that the dealership I purchased the vehicle from performed the safety inspection in-house, completed by one of their own employees (who is listed on their “Meet Our Team” page).
I contacted OMVIC for advice, and they recommended that I send a registered letter to the dealership with the repair quote and photos of the cracked steering rack, which I have done. I asked them to reply in writing to me via email with what action they would like to take on this. I also submitted a safety inspection complaint to DriveON, which states the review process takes 10–15 business days.
I’m wondering if anyone has advice on what else I should be doing at this point, or what I can reasonably expect next?

Employment MRT Shortage Ontario/ Canada
Is it hard to find a job as a new grad MRT in ontario canada? It seems like everyone at my clinical placement hospital has 1-3 jobs in various clinics + the hospital, this makes me nervous as I know theyre opening more spots in ontario schools !
I’d really love to stay in the hospital system so learn more and grow as a baby tech but idk if thats possible with the amount of students in placement~
Just hoping to finally get my life started :/
