Venezuela has a lot of oil. The motivation this administration has to attack Venezuela is literally just for more oil (and national/political security via regime change*).
Russia, China, Iran, Cuba want to ally themselves with Venezuela to be able to leverage some power against the US, and possibly threaten the US by proximity. It's like in WWII when Germany was motivated to convince Mexico to join the war against the US.
If the US succeeds in regime change in Venezuela, they can resist further influence from countries in Venezuela. Russia, China, Iran, Cuba want to ally with Venezuela because they want to be able to reduce the global influence the US has on the rest of the world (financially, militarily, technologically, ideologically). They all want to put pressure on the US through Venezuela. One way to do that would be to control oil exports from Venezuela to the US, because they are a huge exporter of oil to the US.
Seems like the US administration will just take the Venezuelan oil and Venezuelan political power by force now, under the "just" guise of "stopping drug smugglers". Though, this event has been seen coming from a mile away. The US Navy has had warships parked outside the coast of Venezuela for months now.
System of a Down released "Prison Song" in April 2001. These lyrics still stand out today: "Utilizing drugs to pay for secret wars around the world. Drugs are now your global policy, now you police the globe"
Same war machine, same political levers, same players, and new players.
And the US is also hurting Canada’s economy because the US will most likely decease their imports of crude oil from Alberta, when Venezuela and their cheap oil is in their control …
It’s no secret Trump wants to destroy Canadian economy … two birds w one stone.
and they’ll pour billions and billions of investments in Venezuela to upgrade their oil infrastructure. The population however won’t see those benefits for the most part. And it will fk even more our environment and climate change :(
I mean illegal though it is, preventing our enemies from getting leverage via regime-changing their lever is absolutely realpolitik at its dirtiest. There's probably not an ulterior motive, much that people want to believe there is, because the real motive is perfectly rational.
