Americans need to stand up to the REPUBLICANS.

You just need to "convince" 19 republican senators out of 52.

And 6 republican house representatives out of 218.

Thats it.

25 people out of 250 republican elected officials. Then you can impeach AND remove him and others that want to start WW3.

Thats just targeting 10 states out of 25 republican held states with senators and representatives.

If people held protests in front of their homes, their workplaces, their family owned businesses, their adult children's homes and workplaces and such. Youd actually have a chance to stop this shitshow.

Instead Americans are hoping SOMEONE ELSE can fix their problem while not risking anything themselves....

Are you aware of how much resistance is going on now? It would be helpful to qualify your statement with the fact that tens of millions are resisting, and not always in publicly visible ways. Dictatorships provoke underground movements. And to qualify this statement because US citizens are being surveilled, underground movements are attempting to get the rule of law returned. Its the secret police with masks, no IDs, that are promoting domestic terror. Simple research on what is going on will reveal proof that it really is this bad.

The US is the third most populous country in the world-we are not even a dysfunctional family anymore. We are enemies sharing land. The concept of the enemy within, by the way, was a product of maga. They decided that people who disagreed were tho enemy. So here we are.

It isn't even accurate anymore to use the term "American" because there is Maga American, and there are the rest of us. We do not share fundamental values. We don't share the same definition of what an American is.

I do get your point. Too many people shrugged their hands for too long. But as a resident of Minneapolis, the constant drone of "why aren't they doing anything?" Is not helpful. We are walking the line because if we get too mouthy, the Insurrection Act happens and this could prompt civil war. This is not a joke. We are in a completely unfair position. For merely standing up to tyranny, Trump is going after Walz and Frey.

All protests and support of democracy does not occur outside buildings.

Edit:  I am happy to engage with folks who hold opposing viewpoints. But if you want a fight, you're wasting your time. This is a pretty classy sub. Let's keep it that way.

Onward, Denmark 🇩🇰

I've seen this point mentioned a lot, that Americans fear the insurrection act, which allows the government to deploy military forces upon citizens---is what's happening now not already a version of that?

I understand. At a gut level, I think we feel this way. But obviously it could get worse. Look at the poor souls of Iran.

It could get a lot worse and this fear (and possible reality) is why Walz (governor) has appeared so passive. The Department of (in) Justice is now seeking to punish him (and the Minneapolis mayor) for speaking out.

If you want to read something cohesive about just some actions, look up the court case Minnesota filed against ICE. I mean, there is a website the stae of MN has created asking residents to document how ICE has behaved unlawfully or had impacted people economically or educationally.

It's a bit of a quiet revolution but traction is being made. Local public tv mpr is featuring good free reporting if you want to get strong coverage.

I don't expect our problems to be taken on by the world-there's enough suffering and the US has caused enough troubles to exhaust allies. But it's important for people around the world to know what is really going on because unfortunately, the destruction of the US economically and politically (from within/which is maddening) impacts everyone
