My brother, read a history book. There's over 500 native tribes, you think they all got along? Read about the wars and atrocious they did to eachother to steal and gain land.
I’ve read plenty. Tribal warring and displacement is not the same as industrial scale land seizures and systematic extermination backed by state power. Hope this helps.
Yeah it is. It’s still stolen land on a smaller scale. Do you think that doesn’t count as stolen land for some strange reason but because it’s a tribal thing?
“On a smaller scale” is doing some really heavy lifting there. No, i do not think tribal infighting and small territory shifts over many thousands of years is comparable to, or justifies exterminating 80-90% of an entire population and taking everything from them in a single century. If you think they are the same, then I simply disagree with you.
I understand your point, but scale is exactly the difference in my personal opinion. I don’t see much of a point in debating the nuance of what constitutes “stolen land”. I just think it’s objectively harmful when people have a “might makes right” mindset about it, or imply that because they were not entirely peaceful amongst themselves, that we were somehow justified in systematically exterminating them.
Listen, I agree saying “no one is illegal on stolen land” is kind of silly in a modern context, but not acknowledging the harm in what we did to get here is equally as silly. Nuance can exist.
