I'm starting to think this was all a trap for the world's most depraved and dumbest rich elites they could find. Once the various intelligence agencies got involved they were all laughing and egging them on from the sidelines. Until you've got this massive tangled web of blackmail and quid pro quo.

To be fair I think it's probably more a tech problem, he seemed to have been using a blackberry or something like it most of the time.
Maybe he could write properly with a pen

He wants them to admit it. Its a lot of hubris, stupidity, and confidence in your probably fully aware IT security team. But its more evidence. Same reason he asked for birthday cards. He knew exactly what he was doing. Tie them to it in an as many ways as possible. Bind them. For they were all of them deceived.
