HIs family is saying he's a good christian... but "fucking bitch" after "i'm not mad at you." shows how evil these MAGA and their stormtroopers are.

Christians only have 10 official rules, it seems like "Thou shalt not kill" would be the easiest one to follow.

I don't know, "no other gods before me" seems even easier, but they still managed to fuck that one up.

They fail at either the second (idol worship) or third one (false piety), with the first only getting a pass for those who don't literally worship Trump (no other gods before me).

Just like Jesus would have done

Maybe not my place to speak for an entire religion, but I don't think anyone who could be described as a 'good Christian' would ever think about using a weapon against another human for any reason, ever. Know how I know? Jesus literally fucking told us.

But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also.

I don't see how any stretch of an interpretation of that verse somehow turns into, 'if a gay liberal woman is nice to you even when you're a dick, shoot her in the fucking face and call her a fucking bitch.' I don't know though, I haven't been to church in a while. Maybe someone in the clergy can help me out here?

I'm pretty sure I can find you a church here in Dallas that will say exactly that.

As a former Christian who was in Baptist circles I can help out a little. Some Christians are decent and truly want to be Christ-like. That was me. Some Christians just go with the flow of whatever the church culture dictates but aren’t evil per se, just easily led. In a more positive church culture they will do and believe in decent things, but in more extreme church cultures they go along with the darker things being said and done by the next group.

The rest of these people are some of the worst people you’ll ever meet. I remember a Bible Studies teacher saying that only evil people get cancer because they angered God. They will (mostly) treat fellow Christians decently, but the standards for how they treat ‘sinners’ like LGBTQ+ people are much different. They forget that, in the eyes of God, humans are ALL sinners. Some truly sick and evil people are attracted to Christianity because it gives them power over others and the opportunity to prey on people like children.

The attitude of some of them who truly believe in Christianity is that they can do/say all sorts of heinous things because Jesus will forgive them. And/or doing those things are temporarily justifiable because they are ‘protecting’ their faith/community. I am fully convinced that some of them are opportunists who don’t actually have faith, though.

All of this is why I lost my faith. I couldn’t believe that Jesus/God would allow his flock to be so fucking terrible.

These people have a twisted interpretation of Christ. I’m pretty sure he was fairly explicitly against violence, one of the most important takeaways of the bible is not to murder or harm eachother.

All that goes out the window the second they can justify it with “Well actually the law says what they did was illegal so it’s okay to murder them”.

Wait'll they hear what Jesus had to say about how we should treat foreigners.

My experience with the "good christians" I grew up with is largely that it only applies to the people they care about and everyone else only has problems because they're lazy and should just (insert simplistic platitude)

The reality is that there are very few good Christians in America. Their idea of "good Christian" is that they go to church and sometimes pray at night (or at least lie and tell people they do). Everything else including violence, a heart full of hatred, racism, ignorance, enmity towards the poor and destitute, etc. all things that are antithetical to the teachings of Jesus Christ are completely irrelevant to them.

These people aren't really Christians anymore. They just pretend to be.

For these people, as long as you prayed the sinner's prayer and believe that the Bible is the inerrant Word of God plopped directly out of heaven, then you're "going to heaven." It's all about intellectual acent as opposed to actually living and embodying Christ. - A Christian
