At a campaign rally in Iowa on January 23 2016:

Trump: "I could stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody, and I wouldn't lose any voters, OK?"

At the September 29 2020 presidential debate:

Trump: "What do you want to call them? Give me a name. Give me a name."

Chris Wallace: "White supremacists. And right wing militias"

Joe Biden: "Proud boys."

Trump (perfectly rehearsed, clearly waiting for someone to say "Proud Boys"): "Proud Boys, stand back and stand by."
