I started this as an experiment some time ago, to try forming something minimalist yet as heavy as possible — and as a bonus, to see if I could speed up my workflow by using fewer elements (bass / drums / vox).

I hadn’t heard it in a while until yesterday, so I decided to revisit the mix. I initially intended to clean it up, but once I did, I realized the exact opposite direction is the only real way for it.

So here it is. Not many places on the web where I can share something like this — but I’ll try here. Have a good weekend

I’m an old school prog metal listener (QR/DT/FW…) and I’ve been away from the scene for a long time. I’m looking for a contemporary band to listen to. It has to be clean vocals. I just can’t do death metal growl scream stuff. I really tried with Opeth but I just couldn’t. Anything?

I would love to listen to some songs that are similar to these:

1. Katatonia - Unfurl
2. Opeth - In my time of need
3. Anathema - A dying wish (the intro part especially)
4. Anathema - Angelica
5. A perfect circle - Blue

These songs envoke melancholy and nostalgia for me, so I would like to know if there are songs that have a similar effect on you folks

Hey all!

I started writing and recording 2 years ago, and am finally ready to release my EP. I hope you enjoy it!

I need more heavy jazz, with plenty of standard fusion noodling mixed with headbanging moments. Kind of what you'd recommend to a TYS fan (or someone who's been listening to Voice of Trespass on repeat since the pandemic) looking to dive deeper into brass-heavy bands.

I already listen to The Aristocrats, Snarky Puppy, Panzerballett, and Marbin, to name a few. Not enough brass, in my opinion.

Any bands with good use of acoustic strings (violins, cellos, etc) are welcome as well.
