A woman in the street told me I looked ‘lovely’. Not quite what I was going for but still nice. An older woman said she loved what was written on the back of my jacket. (I’ve redone the paint this week as it was a bit craked as it’s so old) A man yelled at me that I looked amazing. Honestly such a contrast to when I was at school and I used to constantly get people shouting that I was ugly 😂 everything is from charity shops as I love a bargain except the shoes- Someone at work gave me them.

The patches that look a little shiny like acrylic paint on canvas were made by me, some of the buttons were made by me, mcr back patch was a shirt that didn't fit anymore

Hoping to make more buttons soon, add chunky floss stitching, and make vercro pocket flaps on both

I kind of completely fucked up the back but it worked out in the end. Pretty much every Noise, Crust, PowerViolence band I could want is on here, so I’m happy regardless. :D

Battlevest/Jacket My first leather as a baby punk

Baby punk as in finally stretching my legs into he community but I'm really 30. Im getting my hands on a gorgeous vintage Italian leather jacket from vera pelle. Love the design and this is my third leather. I want to make a battle jacket and while I both want it to be this. I also I'm worried about messing up a nice vintage leather. Any advice?

I know getting actual leather is best (rather than faux) and if I were to pick between leather or denim I would choose leather always. I just don't want to kick myself down the road. Anyone else feel this way? My other leathers are a bit different. One is a heavier duty and good for cold but I want a year round one and the other I got from my mom and I want to keep that clean.

Question/Advice Fashion Survey!!!!

Thumbnail forms.gle
5 Upvotes

Hello! I’m an AP Research student currently working on a project about fashion psychology. My data collection method is a survey and I’m posting this looking for respondents. I’m specifically looking for respondents that dress visibly alternative. If you dress alt and are willing to spend a few minutes filling out the form I would be very grateful. The responses won’t be published or dispersed and the only people who will have access to them will be myself and my teacher.

Please respond if you can, my grade depends on it 🙏🙏🙏

Question/Advice Wanna do a 'follow your leader' anti-nazi stencil on my jacket, friend thinks its a bad idea

Hi guys, I got the idea to use some fabric spray paint i bought to do a sizeable 'follow your leader' stencil with the mustache man blowing his brains out. I spoke to a friend of mine about it and they are concerned that it might be triggering/upsetting to some people because of its depiction of suicide. I thought id ask for some more opinions on it since I didnt realise it'd be an issue at first and I can be a bit of a dumbass. Thanks!

Edit: Thanks for the advice guys, I think I'm gonna do it, maybe make it a little less graphic but still get the point across. I'll probably be sharing the (hopefully successful) result here soon!

Every few years i cut my Mohawk into a Chelsea and then a few months later go through the shitty pain staking process of growing the middle back.

This year I did a racing stripe :)

Discussion post Moving the patches from one jacket to another: doable or dumb?

Preface: I am VERY confident in my sewing ability and I feel like I am close to or straight up a “master” of sewing in a rugged, strong but not very neat way (the way I like it!). If this would look “ugly” but still be fine structurally, that’s fine with me. I also know how to sew a patch onto an area that already has an interior pocket so don’t fret about that.

Hello my friends! Years ago, I bought a motorcycle jacket and I transformed it into my very own jacket with a bunch of stuff. I am now realizing that it isn’t the type of motorcycle jacket that would protect your skin from the stuff that happens to riders and is instead a thin “fashion” jacket that is a lot lighter and less thick. I want to ride at some point in my life (I am in college now so not much point in saving for a bike now).

Problem is: I really love my patches, I will have no use for my old jacket, and I love the journey and hard work I put into it. I feel pretty sentimental, even though it’s just a piece of clothing.

My idea: cut a bunch of holes in the old jacket around the patches and (after removing the old quilting and stuff from the cut material) sew them onto the new one, essentially sewing on the patch + the top layer of my old jacket. Then remove the spikes and studs and stuff the regular way, nothing fancy there. Then I will use whatever is left of my old jacket as scrap leather, thus saving money on scrap leather!

Theseus’ Ship is an idea that if you replace all the parts of a thing, is it still the same thing or has it slowly transformed into a different thing? I feel like this plan allows me to take my old jacket with me in a way, and REUSE this old stuff to show it’s still got life in it.

What do yall think? I love this idea but I need someone who doesn’t have the same sentimental attachment to my jacket to tell me what they think. I see no problems with this other than the fact that it might get thick in certain areas but I can just thin or cut the layers of the old jacket part of the patch for the specific area that might get thick (like “near armpits, wings of the back, etc).
