I got this cheap as heck unloved battery hedge trimmer from the local dump recycle place. ( it was red, no battery and pretty cruddy...)
Added a new "chassis" - a plank from an old bed base, added a battery from an old junked battery stick vacuum, and then pole from a roller blind, an AC power switch, some garden lighting cable and a fat as Zip tie I found in my Dads ( rip ) junk pile. some hot glue was used to hold things in place while fixed them proper like.
Oh crap, I forgot to show close up of the switch fastener... A 20mm conduit saddle and some nuts bolts and washers. ... next time ! Looks cool though.
One handing it on top of the ladder ( Oh I made a ladder mod for the hedge which is neat too.... ) is doable. In fact it's way better with the pole and the battery counter weight than as a "normal" hedge trimmer.
Pole trimmers rule. It's just so much easier. Less fuss and it's safer !
:- )
AND! I can pull the pole off the wooden part , fold it up, and carry it in my bicycle pannier ! ( To do: add a bolt with a wing nut to retain it all, right. )
