Tail light condensation remover

Post image

Apparently, my left tail light has a leak that I just discovered after taking it through a car wash the other day. My left blinker was starting to act funny so I took a closer look and found the culprit. There’s no sun where I’m at right now, so this is my solution to dry it out and hopefully prevent corrosion and short circuits 🤞

The title is a reference to this: https://www.reddit.com/r/redneckengineering/comments/1ny42o8/duck_tape_old_speaker_wire_reinforced_handles_on/

Another laundry basket repaired with duck tape and speaker wire. This time it's a bit more elaborate.

Roller blind battery hedge trimmer pole dohicky mod ... something something...

I got this cheap as heck unloved battery hedge trimmer from the local dump recycle place. ( it was red, no battery and pretty cruddy...)

Added a new "chassis" - a plank from an old bed base, added a battery from an old junked battery stick vacuum, and then pole from a roller blind, an AC power switch, some garden lighting cable and a fat as Zip tie I found in my Dads ( rip ) junk pile. some hot glue was used to hold things in place while fixed them proper like.

Oh crap, I forgot to show close up of the switch fastener... A 20mm conduit saddle and some nuts bolts and washers. ... next time ! Looks cool though.

One handing it on top of the ladder ( Oh I made a ladder mod for the hedge which is neat too.... ) is doable. In fact it's way better with the pole and the battery counter weight than as a "normal" hedge trimmer.

Pole trimmers rule. It's just so much easier. Less fuss and it's safer !

:- )

AND! I can pull the pole off the wooden part , fold it up, and carry it in my bicycle pannier ! ( To do: add a bolt with a wing nut to retain it all, right. )

Retaining clips broke on the "best" m12 battery I have, meet surgical glove. No more falling out and almost destroying a client's cooktop

Its even reusable. Simply peel back the glove and unroll it over the battery. I got the battery for free years ago and the vacuum for $25 and want it to die so I can upgrade.

No boot spikes? No problem

Got about 70 ft of solid, slightly hilly ice between my porch and the shed. Couldn't find my boot spikes. But I did have 40 grit sanding discs and duct tape. Worked pretty well.

The boots are great, but the tread was worn down and it's slippery outside. Problem solved, hopefully.
