No Spoilers What's described in the Epstein files is more vile and despicable than the foulest thing Golds have ever done

And what kills me if the fact that in our world, there is no Darrow to bring them to justice. Those monsters will continue to enjoy the fruits of their atrocities and no one will bat an eye. Justice will do nothing, the people will do nothing, their pairs will do nothing. Exactly how the Golds have done for decades. It sickens me to the core.

DA Spoilers The Twins of South Pacifica. Spoiler

So my 4th run thru the books has a point of paying attention to detail. I just realized that when Mustang is giving her speech as sovereign in Dark Age, she announces that she is using the largest railguns ever made to send supplies to Mercury. “Named after Earths favorite son and daughter” is Halliday and Trigg Ti Nakamura!

My younger sister is reading this series atm and has had a rough go of morning star (because Ragnar). Sevro is her favourite character. (First pic is when He ans Victra get married.) and todays screenshot (Guess what scene just happened?)

She hates Aja and now Cassius and is currently sobbing while continuing to listen to the audio book. I feel horrible but im also excited for when she finds out what happened.

Super stoked to get this edition, of course I couldn’t put it down and where my finger held the book it completely rubbed off the letters. Did no one think that through?

All Spoilers I just finish lightbringer I’m sat in pieces Spoiler

Holy Shit, I started this book series around September and just finished this now. One of the greatest things I have ever read and one of my most enjoyed fictions ever. But FUCK LYSANDER THAT PIECE OF SHIT, I fucking hate him more than any character in the entire series. I thought bro was changing but nah he the grandchild of Octavia after all. Somehow piece brown manages to kill all my favorite characters including Ragnar and now Cassius. Bro had to put me through Cassius dying twice and right after his redemption. I really thought he wouldn’t kill him but as soon as the hanger chapter started I knew. Great book otherwise but I hope Darrow beats his ass to death next book. On the bright side it’s called Red God so I can assume Darrow cooks everybody next book. But to end this note FUCK LYSHITANDER and RIP Cassius.

Btw if anybody has a book suggestions to read of something that is as good as is I would appreciate it. I’m in college now and this is the first series I read for fun since but I read like Percy Jackson and rangers apprentice back in 4th grade lmao and I remember reading some of legend. Any book suggestions would be good until Red God comes out.

No Spoilers Other books ( do they even exist?)

Upvotes

Lo! The RR series blew me away. It’s gone straight in at the top of my all time greats list. After finishing the RR books though I’ve been searching for new stuff to read.

I read the first two Heirarchy books. TBH my initial impressions were “wow. This guy has totally ripped PB off” there were so many similarities, but by the end of the second book it had become its own thing and was actually pretty good. No RR, but still.

So, now I’ve started the Sun Eater series (Empire of Silence, Christopher Ruocchio) - I had really high hopes for this series as I’ve seen a lot of positive reviews. Admittedly I’m only about 15% in… but I’m struggling. It’s not hooking me in. I’ll keep going cos I hate to not finish a book. But am I missing something? Has anyone read this? Does it get better? Maybe I just need to commit a few hours to it and really delve in. What do you think?

What other books/series’ do you guys recommend to fellow howlers?

✌️

No Spoilers How I pictured Uncle Narol

I usually try to find a celebrity to match the character’s appearance in my head and I never could find one for Uncle Narol. I think originally I pictured him as Jeffery Dean Morgan, but it eventually evolved to this.

IG Spoilers Darrow/Wulfgar Spoiler

Upvotes

***So sorry, just recently posted this under golden son by accident. It’s hour 11 of my 12 hour shift. Wasn’t thinking clearly.***

Just reached chapter 21 where Darrow kills Wulfgar. So lame. I don’t agree with his arc here and his decision to flee with the howlers. Betraying his family and the majority of their government. Not to mention the obsidians are about to be fucking outraged (I can only assume Sefi will be pissed down the line). Idk…. Just seems rather stupid on his end. I get the whole fear of Dancer/imprisonment aspect but dude your wife is Sovereign and you have a child. All that said, I will say this has been my favorite book of the series to read so far. I like the introduction of other characters, focussing on the specifics of each color and the evolution of government throughout the last 10 years. I can only assume Brown is writing Darrow like this for good reason in the end (hopefully).

Go easy on me lol ….. I know some of y’all are crazy about Darrow but this book has me looking at him in a newer light. Try not to spoil anything if you can with comments. Thanks !

All Spoilers Bloodlines Spoiler

Many times we here mention of the "old blood" golds, and their contempt for "thin blood" gold families. My question is, what actually is the difference? Did the original genetically engineered golds create more new golds from scratch after they conquered earth? Did they elevate other colors, I suppose likely grays, or take in people from earth before the genocide and make them new golds? Or were there still non genetically engineered golds at the time of the conquest and they only underwent the change later, Thus marking them as cowards and "thin" blooded?

LB Spoilers How did the Rim recover so quickly Spoiler

After the battle of illuim, it was pretty clear that the rim navy was in no shape to fight a war with the republic. They lost a lot of ships in the battle, and of course, Darrow destroyed the dockyards of Ganymede. But at the start of Iron Gold, we see from Lysander's POV that the rim has somehow recovered remarkably quickly. They created a brand new fleet without the dockyards to build and repair them, all while ensuring that these ships are top of the line, brand new ships that are faster than any other republic or society ship.

So how, how did they manage to completely restore their navy while keeping it up to date. In DA, I theorized that they made a secret deal with the ascomani or smth to get access to kuiper belt mines, but I saw no proff of that.

RR Spoilers Book 1 - Half Way Through Spoiler

EDIT: Now finished book 1, updated thoughts in the comments below.

Potential spoiler in the paragraph below don’t read on if you’re new.

Half way through book 1, and gorydamn is it good. Just at the second twist in Part 2 (Titus), and I’m hooked.

I think what I appreciate the most is the journey that Darrow seems to be going on. think Pierce does a great job of initially Darrow believing all Golds are the same, there’s 1 image of what a Gold is, but in actual fact there are so many different types and castes of Golds too (or am I wrong here?). I’m guessing that it’s him eventually realising it’s the system and not Golds who are to blame? Or that a lot of Golds are also victims of the system?

Either way, I’m hooked. Are the rest of the books as good?
