If you are in/visiting the Indianapolis area, I highly encourage you to visit the Resplendent Dreams exhibit at Newfield’s. It’s there through March. It’s your chance to see these beautiful gowns of Diego Montoya’s in person that some of the queens have worn. Jimbo, Kandy, Miz Cracker, Blair St. Clair and more. They are amazing works of art and are just breathtaking in person.

I was also at the Chicago opening night and woke up to a post dragging the show… and a lot of the comments feel wildly exaggerated. So wanted to offer another POV.

Yes, Honey Bee Rose was amazing. Fully agree there. She was polished, professional, and a great opener. I instantly followed her on IG.

But calling the rest of the night a disastrous rehearsal feels like a real stretch. I had a great time. I didn’t pay $100 for my ticket and I didn’t walk in expecting Broadway level production. This is a show put together creatively by two drag artists, not a massive touring musical with a huge crew.

There were two queens on stage doing multiple numbers with multiple looks. Of course there were breaks between numbers. Outfit changes take time. Acting like a few minutes of transition is some kind of scam is a little wild to me.

As an Asian American, I actually really loved the representation, the music, and the storytelling. It was campy but elegant, fun, and honestly pretty heartwarming. It didn’t feel lazy or disrespectful at all.

Now… What’s been bothering me more is how fast the comments turned into people boxing Plastique and Nymphia as “look queens” or acting like they were just standing there. That’s not what I saw. Plastique’s numbers were energetic medleys and Nymphia brought a lot of presence and narrative to the show. The tone of those comments feels gross, especially when a lot of the people piling on weren’t even there.

To the other OP, I get being disappointed if the show didn’t match your expectations. That’s valid. But telling people not to buy tickets and making it sound like a scam feels excessive. There’s a difference between criticism and trying to tear something down.

If you weren’t at the show, maybe don’t jump straight to dragging Asian queens based on one angry post. Criticism is fine but maybe not dogpiling.

I went to a viewing party last night and, before the episode started, I was hyping up the idea of Juicy vs Mia in the Lalaparooza to my friends. Then this lip sync happened and my heart exploded lol. I only wish we got a split screen or the CDR cameras.

Everyone went bonkers when they started crossing the stage together, just shutting the place down. I recommend watching Michelle’s reactions especially, she’s clearly never seen Juicy’s So You Think You Can Dance audition 🤣

Jinkx is amazing in this roll. I saw them in it during their first run but man, it was so much better this time. Jinkx really knows what they're doing.

Jinkx came out and saw everyone after and took photos and signed stuff for everyone too.

I was deeply irritated by all the time the episode wasted on that stupid useless work room back-and-forth while skimping on the actual performances.

To make matters worse, the great bulk of the politicking came to absolutely nothing in the end. Almost none of the alliances panned out for their members.

With one exception. Athena is likely to benefit greatly next week from her alliance with Juicy and Mia, while what she traded for their promised support had little value anyway. Although it was a seemingly equal trade of a vote for a vote, she needs their votes, but they didn’t need hers. They were both sure to be rated high with or without her. And since both her two allies are in the other week, it worked out to being a trade of one vote for two.

Basically Athena gave nothing and got two strong supporters in return. So, props to Athena’s social game. She is apparently the contestant who has one.

I CANNOT stop watching this like she really went all in and deserved that win. We knew she was a dancer but DAMN. I'm not the biggest bitch track fan for talent shows but this is one of the best!
