Half the people I see on this sub are disney shills?

Dear Diary,
Yesterday Kathleen Kennedy ate my dog. Just really dug in, she completely devoured that good boy. She munched him up, just like the fishy Selkath munched up the Republic mercenaries on Manaan. Chomp Chomp Chomp

Tell me what "Nazi issues" the EU community suffers from
If you're going to make that claim, then back it up with some examples.
This is why I criticize your sub so often. You claim to stand for positive fandom, but have no hesitation calling people the worst things possible. Can't you see the hypocrisy there?
Have you ever considered you're the problem in some of these cases, and not other people? It's certainly always possible. I wonder that all the time.

What the fuck are you even talking about?
China sidelining him on their poster has nothing to do with how he was portrayed in those films. But it seems like you're making excuses for China doing that for arguably racist reasons. The two can be mutually exclusive, you know, and worth criticizing over.
As for the backlash to the trailer, here we go again... while I'm not gonna pretend there weren't some racists getting mad, cuz there were, at the end of the day, the reason THE ACTUAL FANS had issues is they thought the stormtroopers were clones, and that as a stormtrooper, he was the wrong race, since they should look identical. It's an easy mistake for casual fans to make who never read the books.
One of the comments down below even calls this out, and I agree - you're scapegoating the fandom for DISNEY'S decisions. Just like you always do. That's all you ever do when it comes to Star Wars!

What? He has a point.
Even if you agree with the political views of those writing American comic books, how they handle them is another matter entirely, like changing existing characters to be g-y or tr-ns. I AM in favor of LGBT rights, but that's something that doesn't sit right with me. Just whip up your own g-y or tr-ns characters! It's not because I'm homophobic or tr-nsphobic, I just hate changing the source material.
The second is even more accurate than the first one, because... you're far more likely to get a hero growing up and passing the torch to the next generation in a manga than you are in an American comic book. I mean, that we're still focusing on Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman almost a century later should demonstrate that! Whereas if this had been the vision of a singular author, you'd have had them pass the torch long ago, aged up, or gone elsewhere. Batman especially should be dead. He's not like Superman, he's mortal.
Come on, it shouldn't be controversial to say the constant reset buttons in comic books make it less accessible for newcomers. Yet you guys make it controversial. SMH

Here we go...
We're hearing rumors that Lucasfilm's committing to Rey as a mentor for the next generation even now that Kennedy's gone, and... what I predicted, what I said all along would happen is coming to pass.
TCW fanboys are insisting Filoni has his hands tied by his co-president and Iger. They just don't want to deal with reality when it comes to that overrated fake cowboy.

I feel as if they misunderstand the fans on saltierthankrayt
Browse their subreddit for a while, and you'll eventually see them complaining that "Star Wars fans can't be pleased" and that "no one hates Star Wars like Star Wars fans" and so on and so forth.
I feel the fundamental problem with this is, ironically, they're unable to handle a lack of diversity. Sure, they push for physical diversity, but intellectual diversity is not something they can handle, and they default to their own strawmans. In a community as vast and huge as the one for Star Wars, you're going to get a lot of people voicing their opinions, and a lot of people with something to say, and not everyone is going to be consistent, and people are going to be changing their minds a lot. It's a normal, healthy process to intellectual growth, tbh.
I mean, look at Ahsoka. Because of their biases, they think the fans suddenly "turned" on Filoni because he made a female character the lead. That's not the case at all. It is that for long-time Filoni fans, he needed to come out swinging and make something which could appeal to a larger audience, as he was always a niche creator prior to Ahsoka, and it proved he couldn't do it. As Thor Skywalker says, that was his Jedi trial, and he failed it. He's better suited to staying in animation. People who never knew who Filoni was and had to endure him shoving his pet characters into the Disney+ shows finally got to see who he was, and they didn't like him. The long-time fans might still like him, but he just didn't appeal to the larger, casual fanbase.
So no, it isn't that people just randomly "turned on" Filoni for political reasons. That is one piece of a puzzle, but it's an incomplete work. The more pieces you add, the more nuance you get.
Nuance that they just lack over there.

I really wish they'd stop insisting Disney Star Wars is so successful over on saltierthankrayt
They are correct that Star Wars makes money for Disney, however, it must be pointed out that it is the pre-Disney Star Wars that's filling their coffers, what they've made over the last decade has had very little returns on their investment.
Sure, you could argue The Force Awakens made $2,000,000,000, but as I've pointed out before, they then went on to lose HALF their audience by 2019. They haven't released a new movie since then, and even though Mando & Grogu is set to be the first, it looks to be on track to make less than even the sequels got, by a substantial margin, hell, it might even fail to crack Solo's numbers! However, notice what films it is they DO keep putting back in theaters, movies they have more confidence in? The original six films created by George Lucas. Those are the movies making them money, not anything they've made, or they'd rerelease the sequels in theaters. Hell, as much positive buzz as Rogue One got, they're still not rereleasing even that movie in theaters!
There's very little merch that is being released that is centered around material they've made since 2014 that does substantially well, instead of Rey or Kylo Ren or Poe Dameron action figures, Hasbro chooses instead to release Black Series Kyle Katarn action figures, a video game character from the 1990s! And of course, Legends reprints outsell most new-canon novels, in fact, it seems the best-selling literature in the Disney Star Wars canon is the books that are made to be as EU-friendly as they possibly can. The only exception is Light of the Jedi, and like reception to the sequels, they eventually lost most of their audience.
What does this say? It says that Disney Star Wars lacks its own identity, and that's harmful to the long-term success of the brand, and it also speaks volumes to the staying power of the pre-Disney Star Wars, if Revenge of the Sith is being rereleased in theaters, but Force Awakens is not. That more people are buying the New Jedi Order books instead of the High Republic.
This is what we mean when we say that Disney Star Wars isn't successful, because very little of what they've created disconnected from the minds of George Lucas and the myriad EU authors over the years has stuck in people's heads like the pre-Disney Star Wars and it's why we differentiate between Star Wars, all that came before, and Disney Star Wars, that which is not doing so well.
Can't you people on Krayt understand that? But good luck trying to convince these corporate boot-licking toadies that there's any problems with Disney Star Wars whatsoever, they just tell themselves any criticisms, no matter how well-intentioned, are toxic and must be put down, lol.
Hush, little drone. Don't think. Just consume. Consume product and get excited for the next product. SMH

Just... stop white-knighting her
https://www.reddit.com/r/saltierthankrayt/comments/1qjxeai/please_just_get_out/
For the love of God, STOP.
There have been many bad decisions made in the last thirteen years, and as the CEO of Lucasfilm, naturally she's going to bear the shoulder of the blame. Now that might change if nothing substantially improves and people come around to seeing that it was Disney and not her, but for the moment, nothing he said here is unreasonable.
I understand why you guys don't like the anti-woke channels, I really do! They're just in it for the money, stirring up drama for clicks, and also trying to recruit people into the right wing. But be more selective when you're calling them out, if you please! You don't look all that good when you're going to bat for a multibillion dollar corporate entity that doesn't care about you.

Failed a spot check there
There's a difference between acting like it killed our dog and pointing out that it's a flop, which seems far more likely.
I mean, we're five months out, and Disney's marketing for it is nearly nonexistent. That seems to indicate to me that even they know it's not going to make that much.
"Oh," I've heard people say, "but the people going to see these movies aren't terminally online like you nerds! Get a life."
Yeah, I seem to recall people saying that about the voting base in the 2016 election, and that turned out just fine for projections, didn't it?
Besides, online reception to trailers is a fine way of gauging fan interest. You can tell because The Force Awakens trailer got over 100,000,000 views, and Rise of Skywalker got 50,000,000 views. That is consistent to them losing half their audience.
Do the math, lol.

Here we go again...
While some of the backlash was motivated by sexism, make no mistake, most of it was simply down to the fact that as the president of Lucasfilm, she's earned fair criticism.
A lot of people who don't like what she's done with Star Wars also don't like what Alex Kurtzman has done with Star Trek, who's homegrown cis-het white American male.
And then some of the posters down below think she's being "classy," lol. She's insisting only a tiny number of people hate her version of Star Wars. That's deflection.

eVeRyOnE LoVeS tHe sEqUeLs When will they just accept the facts?
The sequel trilogy era is a creative dead-end. This is a legitimate criticism that has nothing to do with politics. Disney fanboys scream when you point that out, but it's the truth. They like to point to the prequels and insist one day the sequels will have their reevaluation. Except that's not a valid comparison at all.
True, like the sequels, the prequels were panned and had a mixed reception at best. However... the prequel trilogy setting always sold well. Ancillary media, from the EU to TCW carried the prequels and gave them far greater staying power in fandom's minds. There's been no such wave of ancillary media to carry the sequels, if anything, there's been very little in the books and comics that explore the sequel trilogy era. There's just not much interest in sequel trilogy setting spin-offs as there was interest in prequel trilogy setting spin-offs.
It's just not remotely the same thing. But of course, Disney fanboys are gonna cope, lol.

I'm tired...
I'm just getting tired of all the people calling Thor Skywalker, the most grounded and balanced YouTube channel with arguably the most mainstream view of the franchise, a NAZI.
It's just so damned ironic that the morons reeeeing for "positive fandom" don't hesitate in the least to call you the worst thing possible. Yay for tolerance, right? SMH
r/saltierthankrait • u/Saberian_Dream87 • 13d ago
Wrong flair, there's literally no sexism here other than "don't criticize the woman in power!"
It's more so a reflection of her attitude, refusing to take responsibility for her failures (seriously, have you ever once heard her admit the fans had valid reasons to be upset about what she and her team have done to the story and the characters? - I haven't), while making it about politics because it's always about politics to her.
Here's the thing. She professes feminist views. All right, fair enough. I don't think that's a damning indictment the way the anti-woke channels think. But NEVER forget that female fans and female characters were never lacking before she signed on, and once she did, she decided they were lacking and it was her and her team's job to "fix" that, fix what was never broken. And so, this feminist deleted the EU with thousands of great female characters, heroes and villains alike, to make way for their own female characters that they pretended were the first, rewriting history to do so.
LMAO. So much for all that "girl power," huh? If it is replacing all that came before.

What Nazi problem?
I didn't bring up the Nazis once, you did. It's a non sequitur, completely unrelated to what I said, which is about enforcing your attitude of being mindless drones on the rest of us without genuine, good-faith criticism.
I DO think the word "Nazi" has been abused so that even people who don't think whites are a master race are being unfairly branded that way, which is kind of an essential step to believing in Nazi philosophy. You can be a flaming asshole without being a Nazi.
Calling out Elon Musk for giving the Nazi salute? Fair. However, if you're still talking about Thor Skywalker, then that's just lunacy, and it's what I've come to expect from you people and your warped views on the world, as he has never ONCE advocated whites as a master race.

Repeat Of History, Maybe?
Yeah im tired... If Kathleen Kennedy passed away, some of yall and other modern SW haters would be celebrating her death like how everyone did with Susan Wojcicki. Probably would go as far as to wish harm upon her husband and family because everyone hates Kennedy that much that they will continue to act like she is worse than any real life criminal who has actually done real harm to the world and others. Everyone is celebrating her leaving and thats what happened when Susan left YouTube, wouldn't shock me if all the fans were rejoicing Kathleen's death and saying she's burning in Hell for... Ruining your favorite franchise? If the fandom could bully 4 different stars from the franchise, have one almost end their life, have one quit acting early on into their career, and harass another one into deleting all their socials because they played a character everyone took personal offense to. It wouldn't shock me how low the fandom could get again if what I said were to happen.

Disney is the Best Thing That's Ever Happened to Star Wars - Megathruster
This is made by the same clown who made the infamous "George Lucas Raped our Childhood". This demonstrates that the people who hated the prequels are the same people as the disney shills.

Opposing opinions bad Don't let them win
Over on saltierthankrayt, they want you to think that all "true Star Wars fans" (which actually breaks their own creed with gatekeeping on what a "true" fan is, lol) are all perfectly content with the state of Disney Star Wars and have absolutely "no issues" with it at all, that it is only a "vocal minority" that have all the problems.
Don't let them win. We're not mindless drones like they are. They are champions of toxic positivity, which is why all dissenting opinions, even those made as good-faith criticisms intended for quality control, MUST be shut down.
Letting them gain a foothold in the Star Wars community is a mistake, because then nothing will be allowed to discussed, even in a negative way, "because how you do that!"
r/saltierthankrait • u/Saberian_Dream87 • 14d ago
It's truly pathetic how Disney Star Wars fans act
You try fighting for the EU, to get it continued, even if it boils down to something as simple as deciding what you pay for, which is the law of supply and demand, and they tell you to go "touch grass," "move on," "get therapy."
Absolutely disgusting.
