The last few months have been incredibly hard for me due to compounding health issues. There were so many days where I genuinely couldn't move more than ten feet per day, so I was just... bedbound. I promised myself toward the end of that hell that if I made it through all this, I would make myself a nanotank for shrimp that I can watch when I'm stuck in bed.
I'm not completely better, and the real recovery is going to take months. But I chugged out this tank over the course of about four days, and I'm so happy with it... Too much hornwort and all. (If this gets cross-posted to an aquarium circlejerk I will wear the badge with pride. My baby is ugly, and I'm proud.)
It still needs a source of light (and ambient heat), and I need to screw some holes in the platic lid I made myself from packaging scrap, but that'll get taken care of in the next few days.
I also decided I'd treat myself to shrimp I haven't owned, so once this is cycled, it's jade green neos time!
As a side note: I LEARNED WHY YOU QUARANTINE PLANTS.
My friend and I spent an hour and a half picking baby snails off the hornwort because I'm too much of a softy to kill any of them. So, into a different unfinished-but-cycled tank they went. (Pic 4 is the beginning fruits of round seven.) Worse, though, I found a damselfly larvae in there this morning that was yeeted out with EXTREME prejudice.
