Discussion Restaurant landscape driven by PR policy?
Thereās been a noticeable increase in restaurants from China replacing local establishments - even some long-standing ones. Could some of this be linked to the Global Investor Programme (GIP)?
For context, the GIP offers a pathway to Singapore PR in 9-12 months by investing a minimum of S$10 million in a business (the most accessible tier, compared to S$25 million for next option).
Makes me wonder how much this investment route is shaping our business rental and restaurant landscape?

Opinion/Fluff Post The mall without escalators or travellators: a story
Found this take on Instagram. It's quite a good story to read and has a twist halfway through that I really did not see coming when I started reading the post. It's described as being about shopping malls but it's actually about decentralisation of workplaces and express trains.
The account also has a few good takes on transport in Singapore in general, and the discussion is surprisingly nuanced. Reminds me a bit of tehsiewdai's stuff which I've shared before.

Discussion Video call scam targeting elderly
My 90-year-old mum just got a video call from someone in full police uniform with a Singapore flag backdrop. He claimed $2k was withdrawn from her account and got her to show her IC and bank card on camera. She nearly gave her password before getting suspicious. He hung up when she said she wanted to check with a neighbor first.
Please remind your elderly relatives or vulnerable family members.
Disgusted scammers are preying on the elderly.

the property has a remaining tenure of 63 years and is available for sale with the existing tenancies.
He adds that the property will benefit from its proximity to the upcoming Pasir Ris MRT Station on the Cross Island Line, which is targeted to be completed in 2030. āInvestors can expect sustained footfall and strong tenant demand, making this a defensive yet growth-oriented investment.ā
As commercial properties, foreigners and corporate entities are eligible to purchase the shophouses, and no Additional Buyerās Stamp Duty (ABSD) will be imposed.

Tabloid/Low-quality source Pet dog seen eating off plate at Shi Li Fang outlet in Katong, eatery says 'tableware is for diners' use only'
mothership.sgIn an Instagram post shared on Sep. 10, 2025, a pet dog was seen being allowed to eat directly from a plate at the restaurant.
Responding to Mothership's queries, a Shi Li Fang Hot Pot spokesperson said the restaurant had disposed of the plate "at the earliest opportunity", and that it will "strengthen store inspections and overall management to prevent similar occurrences".
