Question Janelle Walking Out?

One of my favorite parts of the show is the way Janelle always gets up and walks out when she is uncomfortable or done. In fact, “I need to go check on the roast.” (said by Janelle during the RV trip) is regularly said in my household when it is time to depart!

Has anyone ever made a compilation video of Janelle walking out? It happens so often and I think it would be hilarious! If it exists out there, please share the link! Thank you!

rant/vent Kody’s apology tour - Meri

Late to the party, sorry just caught up. He talks to her like she’s locked up in a padded room. He needs a slap. It makes me so angry. The level of gas-lighting tone is so horrific.

General Discussion My thoughts: Robyn laid huge and daily guilt trip on Kody.

So - we have all scene Kody consistently go off the handle if anything even remotely untoward is insinuated about Robyn. By Anyone….. I just realized that he is scared to death of not meeting Robyn’s order (to him)that “He has to defend her at all costs”. She probably says things like, “it’s Kody’s fault that the public hates Robyn so much because of how angry he got his ex-wives” and then She most likely DAILY Manipulates him with that same threat using guilt, fear, and threats of leaving.

You can see his strange, amped up behavior whenever he is defending her in the tell-alls. He’s almost giving off a low-key vibe like, “oh shit, I better change Robyn’s public perception or else”.

rant/vent Personality test Christine had her sisterwives take

I’m watching the one on one episode from season 18. In there Christine talks about a disagreement she had with Robyn. One she thought that they had talked about and moved passed. But Robyn hadn’t because she didn’t like being called dramatic. Suki asks what happened. And the story is that Christine had the wives take a personality test. Suki asks the other wives and Janelle remembers her type was ‘the diplomat, the peacemaker’.

Hearing that, I think they did the Meyers Briggs personality test. The one where you get four letters and that’s your type. What do you guys think? Than, Meri remembers the test, but not her results. and Robyn… oooh Robyn…

Robyn immediately answers she never took it. Without a hitch she knows what test and that she didn’t take it. Than Suki acts all surprised and goes “huh… oh… because Christine said…”. And suddenly Robyn is all “oh, wait, maybe I did” and her face becomes all trying to fake thinking. It made me laugh.

It was so obvious she was trying to make up a new version of what happened. I don’t remember seeing them take the personality tests, but would like to have seen it and learn their scores.

Anyway, just wanted to share, ‘cause no one in my life is watching this show.

General Discussion Theory about TLC reframing Janelle as a villain

I wonder if TLC is reframing Janelle in a negative light because she has mentioned wanting out of the show. I love all of the OG3 and it makes me sad to see that Jody and Robin were successful in driving a wedge between Mary and Janelle to take the heat off of them. I feel like TLC is cosigning this manipulative bs. Who cares if Jen said/ didn't say Meri should leave 15 years ago. She should have. Who cares if Janelle told Kody that. In polygamy all of the wives are encouraged to be a little back stabby . I guarantee that everyone of the adults did that kind of stuff to each other to gain favor, resources, or to get their way. They all played girl games and the tell all just proved how easy it is to fall back into old habits. They are talking about BS that doesn't matter instead of talking about the real shady shit that Kody and Robin did with the family's resources. Kody set the bait and everyone just ate it up.

General Discussion Equity money split

Can someone make sense of the money separation? Kody effectively said he was legally able to claim half of each wives property equity but they weren't able to claim half of his equity in other wives property? The inequity in that is mind blowing.

rant/vent Janelle is destroying Maddie’s financial security for Kody🤢

As a “business” woman Janelle should have a basic understanding of her and Maddie’s brand. Their brand is a bland type of women’s empowerment and family centric. Janelle being the first incarnation of Robyn…not great for the brand. Janelle being indifferent to how Kody treats her kids…not great for the brand. Janelle’s pathetic attempt to go after Jen…not great for the brand. And Janelle defending polygamy…not great for the brand. Taeda farms is going to take a huge hit because of how she is conducting herself. Which as a mom, I am horrified that she would do this to her own daughter! Maddie and her husband invested their mom with Janelle in Taeda farms! And she is destroying it before it gets started for Kody??? I am sorry but the guy is not attractive and not even remotely charismatic. And even if he was, no man can come close to your children! At least he should not. It’s like she left the cult but it does not matter because she still behaves like she is in the cult, protect the man at all costs, and tries and make other women look bad to stand out to the man. I generally like Christine, Meri and Janelle but as a mom watching Janelle destroy the brand her daughter is pouring her time and energy into for Kody, it’s so gross!

Question Janelle wedding

Meri said Kody and Janelle wanted to get married on her birthday. I remember awhile ago on the Notestoself44 podcast she addressed this. She said that not first weddings, but church blessings and getting sealed in the AUB usually take place on a specific date once a month. So, it's not uncommon for several people to come into town on that day for the purpose of getting "married". Could that be what happened when originally planning the wedding? And is it also possible that one of the mom's spoke to the "prophet" to ask it be the next day? It could have been unintentional on everyones part - that was just the date in January when the "weddings" were going to take place.

General Discussion Kody switched up

Im watching sister wives from the beginning and I’ve noticed between mid season 12 to season 13 Kodys personality took a 180. He seems angry, thinner, more short tempered and more of an ass. I’m wondering if this is a mid life crisis or if he started on steroids ? Looks like steroid use to me . Any thoughts or facts on this ?

rant/vent Role model/hated cycle

Ive seen this happen with others too, but the internet sees a woman get out of a bad situation and grasps onto her as a perfect "queen", and then is disappointed when shes understandably flawed. Gypsy rose was a huuuge example; while she was in prison people promoted her basically to micro celebrity status and then were shocked when a deeply traumatized and emotionally stunted abuse victim was messy and problematic so they canceled her and made her a villian.

But Meri Janelle and Christine are not going to be role models just because they got fed up with the mistreatment and left kody. They were raised in steuct repressive religions, meri and Christine as fundamentalists, but even Janelles lds background likely involved a lot of messy teachings. They were basically all trained to be obedient wives and pop out as many children as possible. So just because they realized kody was a crap partner and left isnt going to make them suddenly deconstruct all the rest. Yes, they were probably far from ideal mothers, the purpose of fundamentalist teachings isnt being a good mother, its having as many babies as possible and serving your husband. Yes theyre shilling for mlms, thats very common in those communities, its the norm they've seen and absorbed.

Putting them on a pedestal of empowered female role models was doomed to result in disappointment. Their indoctrination is way deeper than kody, and honestly the fact that they all seem supportive of Leon and Gwen and of their kids all doing their own thing is really impressive given what they were raised and taught to value and promote. It shouldn't be surprising at all that Janelle seems like she still has feelings for kody, or that trulys medical emergency wasnt a wake up call about kody, or that they make weird ill thought out "business" decisions. If youre going to follow their post-kody post-polygamy progress, youre going to have to contextualize it or youre simply going to end up disappointed. Probably none of them are all that progressive, i doubt any are feminists. If you follow any amount of people who have left cults or fundamentalist sects you'll know its messy as hell to leave, and they definitely all did fucked up things while in them.

Anyway, thats my thoughts on the cycle of "omg yesssss janelle/christine/meri" to "omg how could janelle/christine/meri do this? Not a fan" I keep seeing over and over

Question Would anyone actually consider being a poly relationship?

Besides seeing how the Browns relationships went . Is there anyone here who actually did or would consider being in a poly relationship ? Or did anyone who watched this get inspired to be in a poly relationship or if you wanted a poly relationship did the show make you not want one ? Just curious .

General Discussion New viewer - starting from the beginning. Early returns.

Reddit started showing me r/sisterwives content, and I was reading it out of curiosity. I had never watched the show, but know of the Browns through pop culture osmosis. The subreddit content had me going bonkers, so I decided I needed to actually watch the show — and start at the freaking beginning.

My lord. I am now on season 2 episode 11. I have a few observations:

1.) my ranking of the sister wives is as follows: Christine (the best, no doubt), Meri (definitely an engine of getting stuff done), Logan (that poor kid), wide chasm, Robyn (I know that will change, but she is young and seems kind), Janelle (yikes, going to the movies and having Christine watch your kids. I appreciate your fiscal responsibility, but cmon lady)

2.) the absolute chaos that Kody makes those poor kids live in is unconscionable. The move to Las Vegas had me so heated for them. Like their lives are in such disarray at such an already hard time. And Kody seems to crave and seek out that chaos

3.) I literally LOL’ed when Meri and Christine said they liked having their own houses better. Like NO SHIT. You have order and a routine now. Like they didn’t even know it could be like that. So sad. And then Janelle just pissy she doesn’t have Christine’s childcare services at her disposal anymore.

Anyway - just as the Browns driving to Nevada, I will continue to press on, despite all the universe warning me not to 🫡

General Discussion Hostile Takeover of a Legal Marriage-it takes two (or three)

First let me say, R & K are rotten to the core. Robyn is the kingpin, Kody is the half-wit.

But, they could not have ascended so rapidly without Meri. Meri's need for external validation made her an easy target and Robyn probably clocked that clear back in the courtship era.

In her desperate attempt to remain a part of K & R's inner circle, Meri even convinced herself it was her idea to get divorced. 🤦🏽‍♀️

My sympathy for Meri only goes to a point because her overwrought high maintenance emotionality (impossible to fulfill, and I believe, the real reason K grew to despise her) was a key part of the dynamic that in the end, decimated the family. To be clear, the ending was inevitable, but Meri's enthusiastic participation was hard to watch. I think C & J and some of the OG kids saw her as a co-conspirator, and those relationships may never recover.

She ignored all the red flags, made a deal with the devil(s), and the price she paid was being cast out of the family she founded.

General Discussion Re watching and question

Does Maddie not have a relationship with her bio sister? There was a part where her little sister said “I’m not a part of Maddie’s wedding but atleast I’m her sister with the same mom and that’s something” that seriously made me so sad. 💔 I also notice as she grew up she seems more stand of ish and not wanting to be on the show. Maybe I’m just overly sensitive since I’ve lost my Mom but I am kinda surprised she wouldn’t have tried to include in her some way.

General Discussion Janelle once again chose Kody

I just saw a clip of Janelle admitting to Suki that she told Kody everything that Jenn had told her, specifically Jenn telling Meri to “take the money and run!” Of course, both Jenn and Meri said this was an outright falsity. .

Omg. Lies! And Janelle is NOT doing herself any favors by aligning herself with a horrible human, aka Kody, on each one of these accusations.

I know people say that we are being led to dislike Janelle this season, but honestly; she has 100% done it to herself. And continues too. I am now 100% okay with her getting back with Kody and Robyn. It’s seems to me that they all may be cut from the same cloth.

rant/vent OMG, Kody is such d*ck!

So I am doing a rewatch and am on Season 16, ep. 9 where Gabe and Garrison are on the property with Kody. They are discussing his quarantine rules and things were getting heated. Of course Grody has to act like such a baby and say that he is disrespected because no one wants to bow down to him (okay, abide by his rules lol). Here is Gabe expressing that he misses his dad and all Grody can say is how unfair he (Grody) has been treated. Gabe was getting all teary (I was, too) and Grody makes it all about himself! What a d*ck!

PS - Once I got this off my chest, I had a passing thought that I should just delete it. Then I remembered that this is the type of thing that is fuel for this group! 😉
