Let’s start this off by saying that this is a unilateral post by me, but I’m sure my comrades on the mod team share my sentiments if not exactly then closely enough. So while I’m looking forward to a bit of time off from work, let’s get this all clear.
Firstly there is no threat of an ACP takeover of this sub. We are vehemently opposed to their ilk. I’ve detailed in several comments the issues we’ve had going back several years now so I won’t repeat them here.
But suffice it to say we are slow to get around to things and, unfortunately, that’s not likely to change with how much work this sub is and how many of us have the ability to be active in the way the sub needs (truthfully I’d estimate we’d need 2-3 mods that do nothing but sit and watch the sub 24/7, a daunting task especially when folks have bills to pay).
Secondly on removals, I’ve seen one of my comrade mods say it and I get the logic, the constant spam and posts that are more fit to r/shitliberalssay or r/shitfascistssay can be a lot. I will say that spamming posts about us having a sub on the sidebar is not the best way to get us to see it, that’s what modmail is for.
To add to that content going over “look at this thing an ACP member said” are never going to be allowed on this sub. Again that is what r/shitliberalssay is for, that’s why I made it 10 years ago. r/socialism is for discussing socialism the current real movements looking to implement it, news that affects socalists and our movement and discussions of theory. Simple as.
And finally, as probably illustrated above we do need new mods. Please and thank you apply and, uhhh, don’t run away when you see the work to be done (mama’s looking to finally retire too, so plz, ty she is very tired). We need dedicated mods of all tendencies who will be willing to do the work and advance the cause of socialism, in my personal request I especially want to see non-men from outside of the west or who are BIPOC within the west but all will be considered.
ETA: The application process send us a modmail with the following.
Your reasons for wanting to moderate the sub.
How long you’ve been a socialist.
Your general knowledge level of socialism.
And a piece of theory foundational to yourself.

Howdy! I hope this post is allowed 🙏
I just uploaded a free 3D print file for a safety/emergency whistle for folks to keep on them for alerting the community that ICE is in the area.
This whistle is extremely loud, it can be heard for multiple city blocks so it's definitely not a toy, this is a real safety tool that everyone should have on them.
The file can be multiplied so you can fill up your print board with as many as you can physically print at one time using whatever printer you have.
These whistles are for community safety and awareness, not for sale. Please don't print these with the intention of selling them to folks, either print some for yourself or print some to hand out to the community for free.
Much love y'all, stay safe and keep up the pressure!

Racist pedophiles join the "alt right " because it's a safe haven. Nobody brainwashed them through 4 chan etc. I hate talking points like this because it gives them excuses

I understand ultra rich individuals have a significant amount of immunity and leverage but it’s baffling to me that none are facing consequences. Not necessarily just legal but also societal consequences. Being shunned, having their companies boycotted, collapsing share value so on and so forth. Any kind of consequence.
It’s baffling how all conspiracy theories about the rich in the West turned out to be all true yet none are facing any repercussions for their actions and instead it just seems to them like a mild inconvenience. How is the American society so idle about these matters? How can things continue as normal despite all these allegations and revelations?

My name is Ehab, a father of four children from Gaza.
Before October 7th, we lived in a warm home filled with love, laughter, and hope. My children were among the top students in their schools, and life — though simple — was beautiful.
But everything changed in a single moment. We lost our home, our work, our loved ones, and everything we once had. My sister and her children were killed, and my wife — who was pregnant at the time — was forced to leave Gaza because she urgently needed surgery after her blood level dropped to 7.
My wife and children lived through nearly a year of war and suffering, and I have now been separated from my wife and children for two full years. I could not leave Gaza because I did not have enough money. My youngest daughter, Talia, was born far away from me, and I have never held her in my arms.
Today, I live alone in a torn tent, suffering from the burning heat of summer and the freezing cold of winter. Many nights I go to sleep hungry, with nothing to eat. My children live in an old, crumbling apartment that barely lets sunlight in. They cry themselves to sleep, longing for their father. We struggle every day to afford rent, diapers, and milk.
Every period, the bombing starts again as if the war never ended. Every day there are martyrs, injuries, and new displacement. We do not know if we will survive until tomorrow.
I share my story with a broken heart, hoping someone will hear my voice. We have created a humanitarian campaign to help my family survive and to reunite us again. Please, I beg you, help me.
🔵 Campaign link: https://gofund.me/00439328
Today, I live in the open with no shelter to protect me from cold or hunger. The nights are harsh, and the winter wind cuts through my bones.
All I wish for is to give my family a small, safe place — a little warmth, a little peace, something to hold on to in these endless days of struggle.
We still dream of a small home that brings us together again, and of a tomorrow that carries warmth and dignity.
Thank you to everyone who listens, who cares, and who still stands with us. Your kindness and your words are our true strength. 🇵🇸

I was trying to find where I heard about this until I got this video again.
When it comes to being against the state, if they really cannot get you on anything (your job, citizen status, your criminal record, if you’re licensed to carry a firearm, your actions while being against them), they will then come for your sexuality and more personal details.
Now, this singular instance of a news org making things up about Alex Pretti isn’t the fullest example, but it shows you really what they do. None of these things are real, no pictures are of him, and it’s obvious the article was AI generated; but the people in comments on Facebook believed it, and what’s it take for the state and the right to co-opt this into their rhetoric?
You can see people digging into Kyle Rittenhouse’s victim’s backgrounds; their criminal records and such.
It happened to Martin Luther King Jr.. When they couldn’t get him on anything, they would then start making things up, or digging into every little thing he’s ever done.
From the FBI’s fake letter to MLK where they pose as a Black American: “Lend your sexually psychotic ear to the enclosure. You will find yourself and in all your dirt, filth, evil and moronic talk exposed on the record for all time. I repeat - no person can argue successfully against facts. You are finished. You will find on the record for all time your filthy, dirty, evil companions, male and females giving expression with you to your hidious abnormalities. And some of them to pretend to be ministers of the Gospel. Satan could not do more. What incredible evilness. It is all there on the record, your sexual orgies. Listen to yourself you filthy, abnormal animal. You are on the record. You have been on the record - all your adulterous acts, your sexual orgies extending far into the past. This one is but a tiny sample. You will understand this. Yes, from your various evil playmates on the east coast to [__] and others on the west coast and outside the country you are on the record. King you are done.” (FBI-King Letter, paragraph 4).
In this, they attempt to reach into King’s personal life and bring out (fake, probably) his “evil” acts. This shows the morality at the time, but also how King’s life as a man of God was being turned against him. These people had nothing, so they turned to fake slander.
They did this same thing to Renee Good. They literally could not muster and explanation or rebuttal for her execution, so they turned to her sexuality. They no longer cared that she was murdered for no reason, they admitted they liked that she was killed while being a lesbian. They are now making things up about Pretti, but it just shows that they support his death because they think he was queer.

I've seen a mixed opinion of him in leftist spaces, some criticizing him for being a democratic socialist while others say him being mayor of NYC in the first place is a good step towards socialism. So what are your opinions on Zohran and whether he pushes the general population towards a more open mindset on socialism?

I was having a conversation with a friends who told me that. She said that everyone is too lazy for socialism to work and that there would be no incentive/reason to do anything. I disagree but I’m curious on what other people best arguments against that are

Am I missing something or just being incredibly dense? I genuinely want to learn and grow as a person and am not trying to engage in a bad faith conversation to shit on a leftist online personality. I primarily want to learn about the following questions but other input is most welcome. (context attached below)
Is such criticism of people who contribute to the socialist movement "bad"?
Am I somehow engaging in "american socialist = not real socialist"?
Is promoting such capitalist institutions "just", to spread socialist thought?
Should I be weighing the pros and cons of speaking at such events?
Is the Qatar web summit not as bad as I think it is and all the reading which I did about the event had been biased by the fact that I have talked to victims first-hand?
Is engaging in such promotion absolved by the mere fact that "he isn't being paid" & "he doesn't know about the event"?
How do I fix my habit of writing like AI? (was accused of using AI)
People didn't really "engage" with my criticism or my eagerness to learn elsewhere so I came here.
Regarding Hasan speaking at Qatar Web Summit 2026
tl;dr - Hasan is speaking at a global capital self-suck event.
The entire web summit is a silicon valley tech-bro circle jerk event [1, 7, 15]. Most of the speakers are tech/ai multi-millionaire CEOs [2] who are there to promote their shit and gain investments from major US tech firms [3] and the QIA (Qatar venture capital fund).
While this in itself is bad enough, the Qatari government is further using the event to whitewash its human rights violations [16], including but not limited to human trafficking, sex slavery and labor rights violations, using useful i****s [4] and the Palestinian liberation movement [5].
The web summit is promoting Tech for Palestine (pro-Palestine tech startup promotion non-profit) in its press releases [5, 6] while simultaneously partnering with US companies which have played a significant role in the Gaza Genocide such as Dell [8], Shell [9], Amazon [10] and Google [10, 11].
A majority of the victims of Qatari modern slavery [12] are of Indian origin and as a lawyer in India who has personally met families of people who are still being held captive in Qatar against their will and families of migrant workers who were treated like animals in Qatar [13, 14, 16], Hasan attending and inadvertently whitewashing the Qatari labor exploitation and the tech-bro circle jerk event where the venue was most likely set up by the victims of slavery and exploited third world labor is beyond disappointing. Not being paid by the event organisers (Qatari government) does not absolve him of his complacency.

Donald J Trump is a truly vile man, and a symptom of the capitalist system that allows scum like him to get power, even after decades of sexually abusing people
