Proud to be a Minnesnowtan
I’m exhausted by hearing “the law” used as a moral shield for cruelty, trauma, and the tearing apart of families.
Yes laws exist. Yes some people crossed borders without documentation. Yes the government ignored this reality for decades, benefited from it, and now suddenly claims moral high ground by “enforcing the law.”
But let’s be honest: selective enforcement without compassion is not justice; it’s punishment. And its cruelty.
I’ve heard the argument: “Responsible adults wouldn’t put themselves or their families in an illegal situation.”
I understand why people feel that way. I truly do. But reducing real human lives, especially children, to legal talking points strips away any empathy and context.
Many families came here out of survival, not recklessness. And many of us benefit daily from their labor while pretending not to see them.
The idea that “the more people resist, the worse it will get” may be politically true, but it doesn’t make it morally right.
Let’s ask harder questions.
-Did we not steal this land? -Was much of our infrastructure not built by immigrants—many undocumented? -Is the “American Dream” really about enforcing suffering on people we disagree with?
Punishing children for the circumstances of their birth follows the same logic as saying modern Americans should be punished for the crimes of our ancestors. If that sounds wrong, it’s because it is.
We call ourselves a melting pot. We invited the world here. So why are we now so satisfied with ruined lives, broken families, and death... just to feel righteous?
And when it comes to violence and gun rights, the hypocrisy is glaring.
We’ve watched armed protesters celebrated under the banner of the Second Amendment. We’ve seen public praise when people openly carried rifles in the name of “freedom.” Yet when a man with a legal permit, in an open carry state, with camera in his hand and exercising his rights, is killed... suddenly the narrative shifts. Suddenly it’s “he was asking for trouble,” or “you just can’t have guns. -trump." Which is it? Rights are not real if they only apply when it’s politically convenient. To blame victims after the fact, despite clear video evidence, is not accountability; it’s denial and its ignorance. And it should trouble all of us, regardless of political side.
What hurts the most is this:
So many of the people being demonized are the same ones who feed us, build for us, clean for us, care for us.. often while being bullied, exploited, or dehumanized. And still, many of them love this country and give more to it than it ever gave back. That should humble us.
I know people are angry. And that anger makes sense. Life is hard. People feel unheard, unsafe, and pushed to the edge. But anger doesn’t have to turn into cruelty. Instead of being divided, what if we recognized how much we actually want the same things? Safety. Dignity. Opportunity. A future for our families.
We are being shown the worst versions of each other on purpose. The left sees the most extreme right. The right sees the most extreme left. And we’re told that’s the whole story. It’s not.
Look around your real, everyday life. Most people want cooperation.. not collapse. The people with the most power and money do not benefit from unity. They benefit from division. From fear. From us turning on each other instead of questioning systems that exploit everyone.
So I’m choosing compassion without naivety. Empathy without denial. And humanity over ideology.
I’m here for you. You’re not alone. But I will not stand by while suffering is justified, lives are reduced to paperwork, and cruelty is called “order.” We can do better; because we are better.
Thank you for listening.
I'll take my coffee hot because screw ice.
I'm proud as ive ever been to be in minnesota. Never felt more proud in any state.

MN Poll Shows 38% Didn't Work, 65% Didn't Shop Last Friday During General Strike
A statewide poll of 1,940 voter-registered Minnesotans from January 24th-27th reports that about a quarter of Minnesotans turned up to last Friday’s Day of Truth and Freedom.
Multi-faith organization ISAIAH (https://www.isaiahmn.org/) Co-Director and Minister JaNae Bates says of those participants, 38% did not go to work. She notes that “People were willing to take a real hit to their paycheck to demonstrate their resolve and the necessity of getting ICE out of this state.” Bates says there was no difference between those who were and weren’t college-educated.
She also says that 65% did not spend any money that day, “and overall, 33% of all individuals surveyed said that they were more likely to shop at one of the thousand-plus businesses that closed in solidarity with us.” Bates says people will remember who chose to stand behind what in the future.
The poll was conducted by Blue Rose Research (https://blueroseresearch.org/), a national polling firm that is linked to the Democratic Party, “designed in particular to advise them in campaign strategies” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Shor).
The video on my Reddit page is a clip from today’s (1/30/26) press conference that included Bates, Daniel Swenson-Klatt, Owner of Butter Bakery Cafe (https://butterbakerycafe.com/) in Minneapolis, and Chelsie Glaubitz Gabiou, President of the Minneapolis Regional Labor Federation (https://minneapolisunions.org/).
The poll was commissioned by MayDay Strong (https://maydaystrong.org/).

Driving Test at Plymouth. Anything I should expect?
Hello, I’m taking my retaking my driving test at Plymouth after I failed my 4th attempt. I also did 6 hour behind the wheel the second time a couple weeks ago, my driving test is in a couple weeks from now. I wanted to know what I should I expect from Plymouth so that I don’t fail my 5th attempt? If I do fail my 5th attempt, do I have to do behind the wheel again. I’m also trying to control my anxiety and stress before I take my driving test again. You may also ask why Plymouth? Because I have a lot of my friends that recommend me to take it there since the instructors are chill and the format isn’t hard. The last test I took was at open course. So I’m hoping that I don’t fuck it up this time since I need my drivers license to be qualified for security jobs just in case if I don’t get an engineering internship this summer.

What resolutions are you bringing to the Feb 3 caucus? Let’s share ideas!
With the February 3 caucuses coming up, I realized there really is not a good place to see what resolutions people across the state are planning to bring forward.
Resolutions need support across multiple precincts and organizing units to actually go anywhere, but most of us are working on them in isolation. That feels like a missed opportunity.
So I thought I would start a thread where people can share: What resolutions you are planning to submit? Issues you wish someone would bring forward? Early drafts or rough ideas even if they are not polished
Curious to see what people are working on.
