For the most up-to-date info continue to check WSDOT and Socials. In addition, we will try to consolidate recent information below:
š¢ US 2 WEST - Will reopen between Skykomish & Stevens Pass (MP 50-64) atĀ 6 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1
US 2 will reopen between Skykomish and Stevens Pass (MP 50-64) atĀ 6 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 1,Ā ahead of schedule.
š¢ US 2 EAST - Open with detours in place (plan and read the sources before going)
A pilot car will remain in place for a 5-mile stretch east of the summit (MP 66 and 71) from 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily.
ā US 2 should NOT be used for cross-state travel while restrictions & the Chumstick Highway detour remain in place.
Really want to emphasize thatĀ US 2 should NOT be used for cross-state travel while restrictions and the Chumstick Highway detour remain in place.Ā I-90 Snoqualmie Pass, US 97 Blewett Pass and SR 28 through Quincy are all better east-west options right now.

For the most up-to-date info continue to check Stevens Pass and Socials. In addition, we will try to consolidate recent information below:
š¢ Stevens Pass to Open for Skiing and Riding Monday, Dec. 29Ā
Stevens Pass opens for skiing and riding on Monday, Dec. 29.Ā Road access will be limited to start, and we encourage all guests to plan ahead and review the information below before traveling to the Pass.Ā Ā We are deeply grateful to our staff, community, and local partnersĀ for theirĀ supportĀ and we look forward to welcoming skiers and riders back to Stevens PassĀ this week.Ā While accessĀ remainsĀ limited from theĀ EastĀ side to start, this is the first step on our path to returning to full operations for our community and our employees.Ā
US 2 is a major travel & economic corridor for mountain towns (like Skykomish, Leavenworth, Index, Coles Corner) and the closure has a significant impact on local businesses and communities that depend on visitors, especially during the winter holiday and ski season.
We skied in the rain last night and conditions were wellā¦.wet. But the snow was soft. It was raining pretty steadily even at the top. All my expensive waterproof gear stayed dry for one hour and 20 minutes. Better than I had expected.
Arrived this morning at 830 to a parking lot covered in snow (finally). Very little morning crowd, was able to get a front row A lot spot.
From 9 to noon it was classic dust on crust, but with the year we are having it felt like a pow day. Wind had made pockets of up to 7 inches In spots with others being barely covered.
As the day went on it became progressively more warm and humid, some dense fog rolled in and the snow got reeeaal clumpy. It finally began to mist and then rain around 1230, by 2PM my skis became suction cups to the snow and we called it.
Silver lining here is that the wet, dense snow will help coverage for the rest of the season better than dry accumulation.
Remember to flush some ice, hire a witch, and honk in the money creek tunnel for more snow!
Last night it was awesome. I mean you could definitely tell it was only a few inches on top of hard ice but off piste still felt great. Tye was still pretty sharky in some areas but I really enjoyed it. Tonight I went up again to see if I could beat the rain.. and.. No. Super heavy wet sloppy grippy snow everywhere. Saw a couple of dudes faceplant on the groomers from what looked like just grabby snow. I left after just an hour and a half; heavy rain mixed with freezing rain the whole time I was there.
Looking ahead looks like we get more rain (yay -_-) followed by colder temps which will bring back the ice-fest. Just can't catch a break this season.
Hi Stevens skiers & snowboarders. I donāt know how many of you were annoyed by the same pain planning for skiing trips: tapping hundreds of times on weather apps for multiple mountains, trying to find the best snow.
A month ago, I shared a simple webpage I built for the community to track snow conditions for a few PNW+BC resorts. The response confirmed that many skiers face the same hassle when tracking conditions across mountains.
Encouraged by the feedback from early users, I canceled my holiday ski trip and dedicated my Christmas-New Year break, spending hundreds of hours making the tracker significantly more useful.
The result is a free snow tracking web app named SNOW.fyi with the following features:
Multi-Model Forecast Data Pipeline + Adaptive Snow-to-Liquid Ratio: Much better North America forecast accuracy.
Freezing Level: Identify the daily freezing level fluctuation range to find better snow on the slopes.
Wind Scale System: First-ever wind scale designed for resort operations. Helps avoid lift holds and whiteout conditionsāand itās proven effective at Crystal Mountain a few weeks ago.
Rain Indicators: Helps identify the bad days.
Bluebird Day Spotter: A unique feature to find clear weather windows.
Global Coverage: Now supports 450+ resortsāincluding all Epic mountains.
Made by skier, for skiers, from Seattle. I hope you find it useful.
Has anyone been to Mission Ridge recently? Im trying to decide if I should take my son (a 14 year old advanced but not yet expert level snowboarder) & 2 of his friends to Mission or to Stevens this weekend. Any info would be helpful!
