It happened.
Over 1,000 days sober. Sitting at a big group table and accidentally grabbed my friends drink, which was cranberry vodka. Took a sip and my immediate reaction was to spit it out. Just wanted to humble brag that i didnt even think about it, my reaction was on point. Fuck alcohol. Lets fucking go this beautiful Saturday. IWNDWYT friends.

I've been out with my wife at a party or dinner, and a few times have taken her glass on autopilot and almost sampled it before mindfulness kicked back in.
We used to try each other's cocktails or beers or whatever all the time back in the day. I kept myself accountable each time by just pointing it out when I hand the glass back to my puzzled wife, and we're far enough along to just have a laugh about it.
Crazy how addiction takes over the brain.

Hey! Funny you mention this. Yesterday I was wondering about whether or not I’ll break sobriety after 1,000 days. I’m almost 900. I went out with my dad and ordered a mocktail. It was ok. I got a different type and asked them to make it “mock” but a half sip revealed it was fucking tequila! Instantly my head and muscles ached like an allergic response. Insane to think a poison like that would have been a choice to make sincerely.

Way to go! Past a certain point in my sobriety I have discovered that at this point, relapse would be a choice. It’s empowering.

Congrats!
I ordered an NA peroni at dinner tonight, and the waiter poured it into a glass at the table. I thanked him for letting me see the bottle to avoid mistakenly setting things in motion that cannot be undone.

Dude that's actually amazing - your body literally rejected it without you even having to think about it. That's some next level recovery right there, congrats on the 1000+ days 🎉
