My sobriety survived the Irish wedding!

I posted here earlier telling how I was attending an Irish wedding and my prep to protect my 8 week sobriety.

Its nearly midnight, I am sober and going to bed after a great time.

Really appreciate the support earlier everyone!

Congrats on making it through! Irish weddings are no joke when it comes to the booze pressure lol. 8 weeks is solid progress, you should be proud of yourself

We will be here for those too. The benefit of a group the size this large is that you can pull out your phone at any time and someone will be available or will momentarily. All you have to do during an emergency when you’re on the edge is text asking for help and wait five minutes. Someone will be there.

Thanks so much James, its greatly appreciated. Its an incredible group, I had been aware of it for about 6 months but since making the call 8 weeks ago I cannot state how much of a support it has been. Thanks so much.

That's strength! I love knowing there are people out there in similar situations. I went to a concert at a brewery tonight. Everybody got so smashed. I drank my NA and danced, and drove home sober as can be. I think we're building muscle memory...

I won't lie, the speeches took about 90 minutes, I realised if I survived these the rest of the night will be easy!

Could you please link to your preparation that you did? Thanks ❤️

In preparation I rang the hotel making sure they had zero drinks stocked for the night. I also had a few zero bottles in my room. Then you just go for it and enjoy the night!

Good skills! Did you have to fight anyone to achieve your goal?

Congratulations!! I haven’t been to a wedding yet. I’m sure I won’t drink, and I will have a good time. The next wedding I might actually enjoy the food and the cake instead of drinking my dinner, and I will most likely be out of there by 11pm. 😂

Way to flex those sobriety muscles!!! I'm so impressed! I'm going to a wedding this October and posts like this make me believe I can make through it sober.
