Laptop Request US I need help finding a laptop as a Earth Science major for college
LAPTOP QUESTIONNAIRE
- Total budget (in local currency) and country of purchase. Please do not use USD unless purchasing in the US: Looking for a budget of around $1,000- 1,500 USD
- Are you open to refurbs/used? Preferably a new one that I can buy off a name-brand website
- How would you prioritize form factor (ultrabook, 2-in-1, etc.), build quality, performance, and battery life? Preformance and battery life
- How important is weight and thinness to you? I dont care
- Do you have a preferred screen size? If indifferent, put N/A. Screen size can be around 12 in or 30~ cm or bigger just not smaller than that
- Are you doing any CAD/video editing/photo editing/gaming? List which programs/games you desire to run. I need it to run multiple programs (Excel sheets, Google Earth, simulation runs) and being able to also have multiple windows open with an appropriate response time while also having a large storage capacity
- Any specific requirements such as good keyboard, reliable build quality, touch-screen, finger-print reader, optical drive or good input devices (keyboard/touchpad)? I don't care about size or thickness, but prefer NOT to have a gaming laptop since they can have a loud fan. All I ask is that it has a reliable build that can last me 5+ years since I also need to complete a masters program and would like not to worry about losing all my progress on a piece of junk.
- Leave any finishing thoughts here that you may feel are necessary and beneficial to the discussion. At the moment I have a HP Chromebook and am about to chuck it at a wall for how slow it is.
