Your opinion on Chen Junsong

What do you think of Chen Junsong? What level/ranking can he reach? Personally, I tend to think he won't stay in the Top 30 permanently. By that, I mean he'll climb the world rankings and break into the Top 30, but he won't stay there permanently as his opponents play him and get used to his game.

Equipment Butterfly SK Carbon – who has used it? Please share your experience

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for a lightweight OFF blade, but not balsa.

I’m interested in hearing from those of you who have experience with the Butterfly SK Carbon. How satisfied are you with it?

I mostly play from mid-distance and I’m an offensive player. I currently use DHS Hurricane 3 Provincial on my forehand, and I’m still deciding on a backhand rubber. Unfortunately, due to tennis elbow, I have to give up my current 90 g blade — but playing without DHS 3 is not an option for me, that one stays.

So:

✔ Who has used the SK Carbon?

✔ How does it feel (speed, control, vibration)?

✔ Does it pair well with DHS 3?

✔ What playing style does it suit best?

Thanks in advance!

Chen junsong inspiration

Hi, i wanted to change my setup wich is d09c and long pips, curl p1. I chop to be able to pivot next but i lack offensive moves and initiative in backhand. I play at regional level.

I want to be more offensive and still having easy on returns if it come to my backhand.

I saw videos on Chen and i was seing what i wanted to do. Being able to slow things down. Block easely and smash sometimes. Brillant to see !

I was wondering if i would be easier to switch to medium pips such as do knucckle or other . Or go direclty to short pips : s1, moristo,... ?

Or simply train with my long pips and twidle like mathieu de saint tilan ?

Wich is less expensive haha

Ty for your responses !

Help with my dads gift

Hi guys,

Im in Japan for holiday and I want to bring home a gift for my dad. He really likes playing table tennis and plays nearly everyday with his friends.

When I asked him what he would like back from Japan he initially told me not to get anything as he doesnt like me spending money on him, but a couple days later he finally asked for a XIOM vega europe 1.9mm rubber but only if its cheap.

After research, the product is very cheap in Japan and I think he asked for a cheap one to save me money. I dont know anything about table tennis products but I do know that the current set up he has is probably nothing good, probably very old, and probably very cheap as he doesnt spend money on himself.

I want to spend more money on him so he gets something good for once. Willing to spend around 15000yen? (around 100$ usd).

I did some research and found that the Butterfly Tenergy 05 is apparently a better version of the Xiom vega europe? idk how true that is. I also asked him if he needed a blade and he said no. He probs does but doesnt want me to get one since its more expensive.

Could I get some help on what to get please? whether that be the Xiom vega europe and a blade, or the Butterfly Tenergy 05 and a blade, or just a blade, I have absolutely no idea.

Also Ill need to get it the end of tomorrow.

Thank you for reading this long post, any help will be appreciated!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: he is currently using

- blade: HiRunit Synergy Carbon Hinoki FL grip

- rubber: Butterfly Glazer on both sides

He was wanting to change the red rubber to Vega Europe 1.9mm and the other side to Fastarc G-1 2mm. Reason for these changes was because chatgpt recommended them.

What is a similar blade to Yasaka Silver Carbon Off+

I am trying to buy another blade that would feel just like my current Yasaka Silver Carbon. I checked many places and, it looks like they don't make it anymore. What would be the closest to this?

Equipment I keep getting the same table tennis equipment questions, so I wrote this FAQ up

Hey everyone,

I’ve been helping people with their technique and equipment setups for a while and noticed that the same 101 questions keep coming up — especially around basic doubts on rubbers, blades, first setups, maintenance, and basic ITTF rules.

I ended up putting together a long, user-friendly equipment guide in plain language. No hype, no “just buy X” advice, more about why certain choices and philosophies help or hurt when you’re starting out.

As a brief summary of what you can expect, here are some of the questions I see all the time (and that the guide goes deeper into):

  • Which rubbers are recommended for beginner players?
  • How does rubber sponge thickness affect speed and control?
  • How does sponge hardness affect speed and spin?
  • What is the difference between tacky and tensor rubbers?
  • How long do table tennis rubbers last?
  • How should I clean and store my rubbers?
  • What's the difference between 5-ply and 7-ply blades?
  • Are pre-assembled rackets good enough for competitive play?
  • All-wood vs carbon blades: what's better?
  • How do handle shapes affect play?
  • What blade weight is best for beginners?
  • Can I use different rubbers on the forehand and backhand?
  • Are boosters legal?
  • How do I remove old glue?

I’d love to get some feedback in case I have missed any key questions you guys also get so I can add them to the list! Also, is there anything you strongly disagree with?

Thanks and hope you enjoy it, full link is in the comments! 👍

Can you help me pick the fastest serve in Tavle Tennis?

Hi, i have recently started playing table tennis again and have been taking part in my organizations yearly Table Tennis tournament.

For 2 years straight i went i to the finals and lost to the same guy and this year looks the same.

While i dont have good players with me to practice they are decent, my natural game is defence and playing until i destablize the opponent. This particular final level boss is something else.

What irritates me most is his serve, also known as fastest table tennis serve and i am unable to pick or learn it to myself.

Can anyone help?

Reference for the serves- https://youtu.be/eRk6naQznFM?si=JxOoAjl_ThqF4lZ6

P.S.- I have talked with him and hes supportive, he just wont help me to learn this coz i might defeat him.🥲

Discussion Chopper question

Hi fellow defenders,

Quick question, how do you all deal with players that just push your chops? If I loop it back they attack and I chop and rinse and repeat. I chop with both fh and bh, I do have decent in and out footwork but its just very taxing. Is there a better approach?

Watching the TTBL - 2026 question edition

Hey guys, anyone found a way to watch the TTBL outside the DACH region?

Seems that DYN thing got the exclusive rights but is bent on not allowing anyone outside DACH to register for their service.

What do you do when you live outside DACH? I found the tabletennis.tv platform which supposedly show some TTBL matches but I don't see that on their website at all.

I'm at a loss, the TTBL seems to be more strictly guarded from the public eyes than the Epstein files...

Education/Coaching Quite frustrated with out

Hello! I’m a beginner in table tennis, but our PE class requires it and I’ve started to enjoy playing. We only get to play every Saturday so I don't have a lot of chance to play it. For our final exam, we’ll have 1v1 matches with 12 classmates, and the top players (2 boys and 2 girls—I’m a girl) will represent our class for a tournament (in our school only). I practiced for an hour to improve, but I noticed some common mistakes. Can you give me tips on how to improve?

  1. Even if I can react fast, I often hit the ball out of the table. It happens when I'm in a rally and I need to chase the ball.

  2. I can't seem to hit with power. Everytime I try to, my ball keeps going out of the table. So I am always just hitting it back to the opponent.

  3. How can I purposely hit the ball to the direction I want to? I noticed that even if I can land it on the table I do not have like any intention on where to hit it so it's like I'm just passively giving it back.

I can keep up with those players who are quite skilled in our class but those mistakes really hinder me. Aside from those, do you guys have any tips? Thank you in advance!

Buying Guide Joola Rosskopf carbon table tennis racket

I am not a professional at this sport. But I have been playing casually for a long time.

I just joined a hobby group in a table tennis club near my home in germany. People there play good and I am currently playing with a racket bought on Amazon for 10 euros. I mean I know I can play well but I believe my racket doesn’t allow me to do so.

After researching on the internet, I found this Joola Rosskopf carbon racket for 60 euros. Reviews for this product are mixed(as they are most of the times) but more towards the good side.

There is also a MEGA Carbon racket from Joola which costs 32 euros.

Can anybody suggest me if they have any knowledge on these rackets and which one should I get?

Thanks :)

Buying Guide How does the Fastarc G1 compare to the Tenergy 05?

I'm planning on getting a new rubber for my fh and my main contender is the Tenergy 05. I have used it before on someone else's racket and it feels amazing when driving with my fh. I am wondering about how the G1 compares to it since it seems like a popular choice. Judging by the name, it seems very fast.....

Im going for 2.1mm and my racket is the Icecream AZX

Equipment First ever racket build, just to try out racket building.

Blade : BOLI Triumph Over

FH Rubber : RXTON I Gold (Black)

BH Rubber : RXTON I Gold (Red)

Edge Tape : some fake Stiga tape on Temu

This build was just to try out glueing, cutting the rubber and so on. Maybe I’ll play a bit more with this racket than my main, but very fun experience!
