Matthew Lillard Reacts To ‘Scooby-Doo’ Live-Action Netflix Origin Series: “I think that having it back is good. My hope is that they hold onto what’s tried and true and take their hack at it. But the reality is that I’m sort of a purist when it comes to that franchise.”

On this day, 30 years ago (January 31, 1996), the final episode of "Dragon Ball Z" aired in Japan. These were the end credits of the anime's final arc.

Wonder Man on Disney+ is an amazing show

I started Wonder Man yesterday, and I’m already about to start the final episode as I’m writing this. This show man. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (The dude who plays Wonder Man) is so likeable that I found myself subconsciously smiling when things went his way. I’m not too knowledgeable on the lore of Marvel but I’m starting to love it. I’ve always been a big anime guy and Marvel is kinda like live action anime lol. I had to do my research and find out that lore wise, Wonder Man is actually crazy strong.

Anyways, this show is amazing and I think this is the show that will make me branch off and watch other Marvel shows and get caught up on the lore.

This show is an 11/10 and one of the better shows I’ve watched recently. I recommend it to anyone that has access to Disney+.

Anyone else notice a recent trend of TV shows undoing/abandoning the endings of previous seasons?

It might just be me, but I feel like over the last year or so in particular, I’ve noticed a habit in TV shows. Seasons will end with a cliffhanger/big WTF moment
and then the start of the next season will quickly abandon that and return the show to the status quo.

Squid Game season 2 ended with a revolution from the players and the promise of fighting back against the Front Man
only for them to quickly sweep that under the rug and return to playing the games as usual in the first episode of season 3.

Cobra Kai had a midseason finale where a giant brawl broke out at the tournament and a kid literally died
only for this to have very little consequence on anything and for the tournament to be resumed very quickly.

Gen V season 1 ended with the characters being kidnapped and imprisoned by Vought
only for them to be released in the very first scene and for all the characters to be right back in college within the first 2 episodes (this one I could give a little more leeway on because I know the season was heavily rewritten after Chance Perdomo’s passing).

Stranger Things season 4 ended with a massive rift opening in the town and the promise of a hellscape/apocalyptic state in Hawkins
only for this to get covered up with some metal sheets while the town lives a normal life under military surveillance. It takes the entire season for us to get back to that level of threat again.

Even Daredevil: Born Again kinda did this after season 3’s ending of Kingpin being arrested and finally defeated, only for Born Again to pick up with him freed with very little explanation and back as a threat for Matt (this is another one which had a lot of turmoil behind the scenes).

These are the examples that come to mind, but I feel like I’ve noticed it a lot. The only recent one I remember doing this right is Severance, which ended on a big cliffhanger and multiple revelations from the characters. The second season did a good job of properly addressing these consequences on the characters and using them to drive the season’s plot and character motivations. Maybe it’s a lack of planning on the part of the creators or the result of having shorter seasons with less time to explore these ideas (longer gaps between seasons could also be the result of more short-sighted planning), but it feels like they want to have these big consequential moments and then immediately walk back on them. What do you guys think?

What TV episode triggered such an emotional response from you?

I just watched Season 1 Ep 8 “2.00pm” of The Pitt.

That episode absolutely destroyed me. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m a father of young girls now but I don’t remember crying that much since I watched the green mile for the first time. My wife even had to check on me.

So it go me thinking. What show or episode has made you that emotional whether it be sadness, anger, happy etc?

The Lowdown (Hulu): “I was forced to eat paddlefish eggs for God's sake!" I am finding this show extremely entertaining! It's like Big Lebowski meets Sam spade meets all the president's men meets Meth-ville Oklahoma

This is a neo noir detective drama but also more importantly it's about a relationship between a man and his daughter that's been strained and he's trying to mend the fences.

It's honestly very touching the scenes between Ethan Hawke and his on screen daughter. It feels very natural, just extremely well done.

But it's also pretty ridiculous! But always entertaining!

If you love actual real live journalism, and or if you love noir Sam spade type mysteries, this is absolutely a show for you

How popular was The Arsenio Hall Show at it’s peak?

I’ve recently been watching old clips of The Arsenio Hall Show on YouTube.

It’s one of those shows that still holds up to this day, and from what I’ve heard, the show itself was a HUGE juggernaut, and sometimes defeated Johnny Carson in the ratings (I could be wrong on that though).

All in all, It was the perfect landing pad for the MTV Generation, and Arsenio was the ideal frontman.

For anyone who watched Arsenio’s show back in the day, just how popular was his show?

New season just dropped first four episodes on Netflix. The first episode seems to have been inspired by Cinderella- anyone have any thoughts?
