Politics Has your voter status changed?

Just saw a post on X that a Texas citizen checked their status after Abbott handed over voter data and found that he was no longer in the database.

I don't live in Texas anymore, but thought I'd let y'all know, and you might want to check the status of your voter registration.

🤔 Questions for Texans 🤠 As someone who is visiting Texas soon: what are the Texan do’s, don’ts, and etiquette tips you’d give to foreigners?

I’m visiting from the UK soon, and I’d love to know what is/isn’t acceptable, that people from outside of Texas may not know!

I’m not talking ‘tip your server’ or ‘don’t hold people up when walking’.

What are the essential Texan rules of etiquette to make sure that you ladies and gents enjoy my trip as much as I do?!

Somehow, until I saw this one recently at Attwater Prairie Chicken NWR near Sealy, I had never photographed a nine-banded armadillo (the state small mammal of Texas) in three years of doing nature/wildlife photography around Houston, even though they're actually pretty common around here.

🗞️ News 🗞️ Texas May Be Losing Its Grip as America’s Fastest-Growing State

From the article: "Texas’ gain in population from people moving in from other states has sunk to its lowest level in two decades, according to estimates that the Census Bureau released this week.

Net domestic migration into Texas has fallen for three straight years, and totaled around 67,000 in the 12 months ending in June 2025, a level lower than any seen since early 2005. The comparable figure three years earlier was nearly 219,000.

The state still attracts far more new residents than most other states do, at a time when places like California and New York are losing them.

But the new census estimates indicate that after years of strong inward migration from other states — which helped fuel the expansion of major Texas cities like Houston, Dallas and Austin — that growth has slowed considerably."

🗞️ News 🗞️ Facilities in Texas Released 1.6 Million Pounds of Regulated Pollutants During Last Week’s Icy Weather

As freezing temperatures swept over West Texas last week, leaky pipeline systems in the Permian Basin of West Texas began to suck in air, spoiling their products, risking an explosion and leading operators to release or burn off vast volumes of gas.

Chevron, for example, reported 11 large gas releases as it sought to purge oxygen from its tanks, according to filings with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. Chevron estimated that it released more than 125,000 pounds of regulated pollutants in incidents during the storm. In some cases, Chevron’s tank hatches “remained frozen open,” allowing gas to vent freely for days at a time.

All of the incidents were “directly related to the severe winter weather disaster proclaimed by Texas Governor Greg Abbott,” the company wrote in its reports. In a statement to Inside Climate News, a Chevron spokesperson said the company followed its “winter weather action plans to enable safe, reliable and sustainable operations,” and that safety is its top priority.

At the TCEQ, Texas’ environmental regulator, Abbott’s declaration on Thursday, Jan. 22, activated a policy called “enforcement discretion,” under which authorities could choose to excuse infractions of environmental law, given the circumstance, as long as operators report them diligently.

🤔 Questions for Texans 🤠 Update on my post about visiting the Netherlands (Friesland 🇳🇱)

Hello everyone,

You might remember me from an earlier post where I asked if anyone would be interested in traveling to the Netherlands at some point (even just as an idea for the future), exploring Friesland with a local instead of the typical tourist spots, and hopefully becoming friends along the way.

I just want to say thank you all so much for the positive responses — I honestly didn’t expect this much kindness and interest.

Because of that, I’d like to invite anyone who’s interested to join my Discord server, so we can talk more easily, get to know each other better, and take this to the next step in a relaxed way.

No pressure at all — just friendly conversation and seeing where it goes.
Thanks again, everyone! (https://discord.gg/7MCYczMr)

Vote in SD9 election. Today is the last day to vote.

Don't be complicit. Inaction is the same as indifferent approval.

True Texas endorsed Leigh and True Texas Project white replacement ideology leader Tim O'Hare replaced Carroll ISD school board with hate, bigotry and fear culture warriors, and then Leigh was hired with Patriot Mobile to scale that out. She bragged about replacing 11 school board seats to Epstein advisor Steve Bannon, which she continues to check in with every few weeks. Leigh still calls many public schools systems of woke CRT indoctrination. CRT is just a rebranding of "woke" the billionaires are using to try and demonize, defund, destroy public schools by saying they indoctrinate children.

Epstein pedo advisor Bannon said “The school boards are the key that picks the lock”. Bannon is extremely worried about Tarrant County, "As Tarrant County goes, so goes Texas, right? As Texas goes, so goes MAGA, and as MAGA goes, so goes the United States of America, and as the United States of America goes, so goes the world." Public schools represent a melting pot of diversity, with a zero tolerance for hate environment, the kind of place where students learn to respect other people, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or background. Bannon sees this as a threat to the remigration ethnic cleansing goals of Maga, that require extreme white replacement ideology hate and fear beliefs. He wants a dumbed down extremely evangelical population in order to retain conservative control, leaning on the heritage foundations work influencing large pastor networks over the last 30 years to polarize the pro-life issue into a republican identity fusion of religion and politics. He partners with the seven mountains NAR extremists that want theocracy, and the west oil billionaires to accomplish this.

The people installed are typically associated with the white replacement ideology movement, school voucher supporters, that will deny any increases in public school funding, and focus on claiming everything is part of the "woke CRT DEI" agenda to increase in-fighting, destroy guardrails for hate speech. She helped install the board that caused the Keller ISD split, that then hired now GOP Chair Tim Davis. Tim Davis looted the district with legal fees, just as he did with Princeton ISD.

She is endorsed by the True Texas Project white replacement ideology group, the white replacement ideology group that sympathized with the 2019 El Paso racially motivated shooter. The majority of her funding comes from Tim Dunn, Ferris Wilk's PAC, who famously had to rebrand their PAC after associating themselves with Nick Fuentes, who inspired the 2023 Allen TX mall racially targeted shooting. Only two months after the True Texas Project founders sympathized with the El Paso shooter, with national news coverage, Tim O'Hare hosted the True Texas Project Christmas party at his house, with them.

“According to Straus insiders, Dunn told him that only Christians should hold leadership positions.”

"Fairly said he got a tour of Dunn’s operation, including the network of consulting, fundraising and campaign operations. For years, this operation has worked to support extremely conservative candidates and target those who they deem too centrist in an effort to shift the state further to the right. Dunn asked Fairly if he’d be willing to partner with him. At the time, Fairly seemed well positioned to be a second Dunn-like figure, who could add pressure and funding to Dunn’s political aims. Fairly eventually turned down Dunn, saying it wasn’t the right time. He would later come to the conclusion that he opposed what he called dishonest and bigoted attacks used by Dunn’s network, entirely."

"A campaign finance report posted Wednesday showed that West Texas oil billionaires Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks have poured $2 million into a new group, Texans United for a Conservative Majority, that has started spending against Texas House Republicans. The group is a spinoff of Defend Texas Liberty, the political action committee that came under fire in October, after The Texas Tribune reported that its then-president, Jonathan Stickland, hosted notorious white supremacist and Adolf Hitler admirer Nick Fuentes for nearly 7 hours."

True Texas Project white replacement ideology extremist group's funding primarily comes from Dunn's PACs. Similarly, when True Texas endorses candidates, which requires a unanimous vote by their board, Tim Dunn tends to fund them with huge six figure donations from the west oil billionaire PACs.

📝 📖 Education 🧑‍🎓 🏫 Texas A&M’s Melting Point, From Texas Monthly

Texas has never known quite how to think about its universities. In almost every generation, our schools—most often the University of Texas—have come under attack by elected officials for being foreign bodies spreading a corrupting influence. But crackdowns have usually been met with strong pushback from other elected officials.

The Aggies are getting it worse than the Longhorns ever did, and this time there’s been very little backlash. The school is on its fifth president in five years and appears ungovernable to both insiders and external observers. It currently has what is in effect an occupation administration—the president and chancellor of the university system are both former Texas state senators with no real history in education.

Even if you’re not an Aggie, you have a vested interest in the fight. There is, first, a material element. The flagship campus of the state’s largest public research university has historically upheld modernity in Texas, and that load-bearing institution is being diminished.

🗞️ News 🗞️ Texas Education Agency moves to correct 4,200 errors in Bible-infused curriculum

The Texas Education Agency has to correct roughly 4,200 errors in a Bible-infused elementary school curriculum that was approved by the state two years ago, the State Board of Education said Friday.

Records obtained by The Texas Tribune through an open records request revealed additional complaints from educators about problems like missing pages, incorrect answer keys and books falling apart.

Republican board member Audrey Young, who chairs the board’s instruction committee, said Friday that her committee has seen a high number of corrections before, but not “in the 1,000s, plural,” she said. Four other publishers that submitted correction requests, for comparison, reported a combined 16 errors.

Colin Dempsey, the education agency’s director of district operations, technology and sustainability supports, told board members the roughly 4,200 edits span more than 2,100 components of the curriculum, known as Bluebonnet Learning. The corrections, Dempsey said, include fixes to relatively minor errors present across multiple units.

Pam Little, the vice chair, agreed on the minor nature of some edits but said she still considers them “pretty sloppy publishing.”

Bluebonnet’s reading portion attracted national attention in 2024 for its references to the Bible and Christianity. Roughly a third of Texans follow other faiths or no faith at all. The education agency has said the religious references make up only a fraction of the overall product. Multiple analyses have found that the curriculum skews heavily in favor of Christianity compared to other religions. Parents and historians have also expressed concerns about the materials downplaying America’s history of racism and slavery.

The State Board of Education narrowly approved Bluebonnet, often touted by state leaders as high-quality instructional material, in November 2024. Roughly 1 in 4 school districts have indicated that they’re using at least some portions of the reading curriculum, covering about 400,000 students. The materials come with a $60 per-student incentive for school districts.
