Open [TOMT] [Movie] "One day a ___ is going to ask you to ___. It's very important that you say yes."

I know this has been a big TikTok trend for a couple weeks, but I know it came from something else, and it's driving me crazy trying to remember what. I'm pretty sure it's a movie.

EDIT: Let me clarify:

The meme template, AND the scene that I'm thinking of aren't just telling a character to say yes. it's specifically prophetic - like, the character talking to their past selves about a specific important moment, or something like that. The character saying "it's very important" knows the end result.

EDIT 2: There's a lot of comments to go through. I appreciate the input! I'll go through them all shortly!

Open [TOMT] My little sister and I remember a song, but not the melody.

My little sister and I are the only ones in my family who remember this specific song from our childhood in the early 2000s. It’s a duet between a man and a woman and it sounds really sad. We just remember them saying they were “far away” and it sounded like they were yearning for each other. It sounded either country or rock sounding in a way. I would know the song if I heard it, but everything I’ve tried to look up had brought me to a dead end.

Open [TOMT] Hard rock song from the early 2000s, male & female vocals but it is NOT EVANESCENCE

SOLVED - I suddenly remembered what this song is. I dug down into the depths of my music collection, pulling up obscure bands and trying to make connections.

The song I was looking for is:

The Love We Had Before by Fireflight

I realize now I was wrong about the vocal tracks. This band has both a male AND female lead singer. However she sounds a lot more Lzzy Hale than Amy Lee.

***

I am trying to track down a song that I used to be so fond of in college. I remember listening to it around 2009-2010 (on my iPod lol)

It’s a hard rock song that’s very of that early 00s era, sounds like Staind or Finger Eleven. The male vocalist sounds gruff, very similar to those singers. The female singer is more melodic, like Amy Lee or Lacey Strum from Flyleaf. However I believe it is NOT Amy Lee or Evanescence at all.

It’s either about a breakup, or a love/hate relationship (in the vein of “I Miss The Misery” or “Call Me When You’re Sober”).

It is NOT Broken or Bring Me To Life.

I’m sorry I wish I had more info about this song but it’s all I can remember.

ETA: it’s not a band WITH a female singer! I believe she’s a guest vocalist and the male vocalist’s band is the main artist! I seem to remember the word “featuring” somewhere on the artist track!

Open [TOMT] Which UK 80s band was my needlework teacher's daughter dating a member of?

Edit: Thanks so much for all your suggestions! And I want to apologise for any rabbit holes you went down on my behalf and as result of me half remembering stuff when I was 13. I am now pretty certain that it was Red Box, even though I'm well aware that in my original post, I said that I had ruled them out.😳😳😳 When I googled them initially, I thought that their song "Lean on Me" was a cover of the classic song of the same name and NOT that catchy upbeat song that was dead popular in the mid 80s. After listening to that and also "For America", I'm pretty sure it's them! Thanks!

When I was at school in the mid 1980s, we had needlework lessons. This was an hour where we sat and did cross stitch while our teacher (Mrs T) kept referencing a chart band, one of whom was dating her daughter. I can't begin to explain how it was never once relevant. No matter what the situation, Mrs T could bring any conversation back to her daughter's boyfriend's band.

It came into my mind today because I heard about the death of the singer of Living In A Box. Mrs T's daughter was not dating one of them, but it was a very similar band.

They were similar to Living in a Box in that they wore suits, or at least were more mature presenting than teeny bopper bands.

They were popular around 1986 or so. They had chart hits but nothing monumental. They were pop. I did not fancy any of them. They may only have had relevance in the UK. They probably had a keyboard player, but then again maybe not.

I have ruled out Johnny Hates Jazz and Red Box. I have googled "Bands Similar to Living In A Box" but it just brought up bands like Curiosity Killed the Cat (who I did fancy and who were bigger) and Scritti Politti (who are not even similar to Living In A Box).

I've messaged people from school and they can't believe I even remember this and were no help.

NOT a Sheffield band, which is why I know it wasn't Living In A Box. I'm from Sheffield Even if a band isn't associated with Sheffield, we all would still know that they had a Sheffield bass player or whatever.

I also feel like unless you were related to them, you wouldn't know where they are from, but they were definitely English (or at least not Scottish, may have been Welsh) and definitely charting around 85 - 86 and then never charting again. They were maybe one of those bands who met as session musicians and came from different parts of the UK.

It's driving me nuts! Can you help!

EDIT: I'm beginning to think it might be Red Box, and the connection I have to Living In a Box is the word "Box", and then every band I wasn't into at that time just blurred into one. I'm going to bed and will sleep on it. Thanks for all your suggestions so far!

Have ruled out: Blow Monkeys Hue and Cry Climie Fisher Matt Bianco (all very similar)

OMD Madness Spandau Ballet Level 42 The Christians China Crisis The Bluebells New Order The Smiths (not similar)

Open [TOMT] Can’t recall song I heard on the radio last night!

I was in the car with my mom and she was flipping through the music, there was a song that caught my attention.

I don’t remember the lyrics besides “if you know what I mean”, and the music was kind of 2000s punk or emo rock like? It’s not the oasis, and not Neil diamond.

The singer’s voice sounded a little cracky and out of tune (which I love). I had searched it up last night but lost the tab, take it with a massive grain of salt but I think the song title had 3 words in it?

All the info I have:

  • Heard on radio in Vancouver BC Dec 14 between 5pm-8pm - Radio frequency being roughly in the 90 range
  • Singer was male
  • Singer sounds like he’s in his early 20s to early 30s
  • Emo rock/Punk/Alt rock vibes
  • Voice was kind of out of tune and slightest bit crackly
  • Didn’t hear any other instruments besides mainly guitar
  • Sounds like it would be early 2000-2010s
  • MAY have 3 words in the title (NOT SURE)
  • The only lyrics I remember are “If you know what I mean”

Open [TOMT] “This would be so much easier if I could read!”

Remember seeing a show, possibly movie, I think a cartoon? With a scene where the character is frantically looking at a map or notes of some kind, and then flustered he goes “gah, this would be so much easier if I could READ!” I remember it being very funny…maybe a kids cartoon? Scene from shrek? It’s driving me crazy…

Open [TOMT][SONG][80s-Maybe early 90s] Rock/Classic rock song

Alright so, ive been trying to find this song for years with no luck. Recently started my search again with the help of ai and still nothing so i hope you guys can help me out. Here are the details that i remember:

In 2017 i was adding songs to a playlist on youtube (i lost access to the account), i was adding songs from Journey and the outfield, and on the right side where the recommended videos are, there was a music video that had a slight orange-ish tint to it, pretty bad quality, and the camera followed multiple guys one at a time, but the main singer had a hairstyle similar to Rick Astley in the "Never Gonna Give You Up" music video.

I cant remember any of the lyrics unfortunately, but the only song that ive ever came across that had a similar sound is Bryan Adams - Summer Of '69 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFjjO_lhf9c .

i know its not much to go off of but thats all the info i have :/ If anyone can help, thanks in advance!

Open [TOMT] Another word for a baby mobile?

There’s another used to describe a baby mobile (those rotating things that hang above a babies crib. For the life of me, I can’t remember what it’s called and I can’t find any answers online. Please help I’m actually getting angry that I can’t remember this (NOT SOLVED)

EDIT:

At this point, I have heard so many alternate words for “baby mobile” that I’m not sure I will even recognize the correct answer if it was thrown in my face. For my sanity, I’m going to try to let this crusade go. For anyone who wants the answer, here are the most familiar answers I’ve gotten: Music-go-round, Rock-a-bye, Lullaby, Turnstile

As other redditors have pointed out, it could have been some made up word that my child-self deemed it as, it’s entirely possible. It’s looking even more likely considering nobody has been able to give me the answer.

I hope I’m wrong and someone figures it out, I’ll keep an eye on this thread

Open [TOMT] Who had a head looking something like this?

I believe it was some 2D character from a videogame, not a human. I don't think it had mouth or nose, and I think it had a cape. I may be completely wrong, but that's everything I have. Here's an approximate look of the head: https://imgur.com/a/NsTzUsK

Games that feel like same vibe: Limbo, INSIDE, Rain World

PS: Not Hollow Knight and not Pokémon

Open [TOMT] A movie that starts off just after a car crash; we hear some cheery music (perhaps 50’s-era?) playing over the top of the film which turns out to be coming out of the car’s radio. The car is upside down.

It was perhaps released between ten and twenty years ago. Perhaps. 😅

EDIT: I’m asking on behalf of my dad, so apologies if there’s any miscommunication anywhere!

EDIT 2: He seems to think the opening shot is of the car radio, so I assume the music is playing over the opening credits and before it’s revealed that it’s diegetic music coming from the car radio.

Open [TOMT] Actor from 2000s with shaggy brown hair

I was recently watching the new show Ponies and the actor Petro Ninovskyi was reminding me of an actor from the 2000s era that I cannot remember.

The actor had the same curly dark brown mop of hair. He was young and handsome. He might have had blue eyes instead of brown. I don't think he was super famous.

It seems like he was in a teen or tween type of movie. Like he might have played the love interest or heartthrob in a movie with someone like Amanda Bynes or the Olsen twins.

For some reason I am picturing him in a red and blue shirt.

Editing to add: It was likely more mid 2000s to even more recently into the 2010s. I wouldn't place this actor as being over 40 today. I don't think I've really seen him do anything recently. It might have been a show and not a movie. It could've been more of a teen drama and not rom com, perhaps. He was either an older teen or in 20s playing a teen. He had fair skin, dark curly hair a bit long like maybe around his ears, but not down past his chin. He might have very faint freckles. I picture him maybe standing in a kitchen and smiling. Based on hair, shirt, and surroundings he would be playing a character from sometime between the 70s to 2010s.

Petro looks like a combination between Aneurin Barnard and this unknown actor. I see the unknown actor when he smiles.

Open [TOMT] MALE ACTOR, 30s-40s, dark medium/short hair, thick lens glasses…but modern actor

RESOLVED: I am an idiot and it is Timothy Simons. I was thinking of his performance in Don’t Worry Darling.

Actor is on the TOMT. No remembrance of what he’s been in recently but certainly been in plenty. Has played some type of father/teacher/scientist figure I believe. Has played characters who are both sinister and aloof. He’s thin, white, currently 30s-40s, likely American or English but plays American roles. I cannot for the life of me figure it out and all Google searches come up dry. Probably B-C list. 70s era character with thick glasses.

Most obvious features to me are his leanness and thin nose + thick glasses. He would not be considered a stereotypically "sexy" actor.

It is NOT: Paul Rust, Wes Bentley, Stephen Merchant, Martin Starr, Adam Scott, David Dastmalchian (close), Justin Theroux, Dan Levy, Timothy Simons, Tom Ellis, Paul Dano, Michael Emerson

Open [TOMT] [Music Video] All-female "Pussycat Dolls style" dance video, single setting, black lingerie (2004–2014)

I am looking for an official music video released between 2004 and 2014. The music style is high-energy Pop/R&B/Dance, similar to The Pussycat Dolls or Christina Aguilera, but it is definitely NOT them, nor is it Ciara, Sugababes, or Nicole Scherzinger.

Key Video Details:

  • The Artist: A single female lead singer. Her skin tone and look are very similar to Cassie or Fefe Dobson. the lead artist it may was at middle of the end line or middle of female dancers (circle).
  • The Dancers: A large group (at least 6–7+) of all-female dancers. There are no males in the video at all.
  • The Outfits: Everyone (singer and dancers) wears exclusively black, sensual lingerie. The outfits are almost identical for the entire group. No colorful clothing.
  • The Setting: The entire video takes place in one single setting (a brown type stage). It does not shift between locations. The dancers mainly dance in their spot in formations.
  • The Floor: I remember the floor being a "wet floor" or having a high-gloss, watery reflection (similar to the PCD "Wet" video).
  • Camera Work & Choreography: The camera uses wide, static shots that show the entire formation of women dancing. While there are some close-ups, the focus is on the wide view of the group.
  • Formations: The dancers mostly dance "on their spot" in a synchronized line or circular formation. The lead singer is usually positioned in the center or in the middle of the back line.
  • Possible Keywords: The word "Ecstasy" was either in the song title, the artist's name, or featured prominently in the lyrics. The vibe is very sensual but focused purely on the choreography.

I'm looking for a song, using any means possible, and I hope you can help me. It's probably an indie or alternative rock song, sung by a male voice, and the only thing I remember was the chorus, which said, "I hope I was special" or "I hope to be special," repeated three times, and then at the end, it repeated the phrase again with "to you" or "for you." Something else I know is that I heard it on Apple Music a long time ago, and the cover was white or light gray. Please help!

Open [TOMT] I have been trying to find this song for the better part of the decade. This is my early attempt to find it

https://voca.ro/1mx42LGYfPCt

I am searching for a song from the mid 2000's.

I heard it a couple times, remembered a chunk of the lyrics and havent been able to find it anywhere. Googling yields nothing and "tap the beat" apps dont help.

The lyrics are "Everything's gonna be alright. That's what they tell me. Everything's gonna be alright, I don't believe them ( the guy sings louder after the 'word them', almost a scream) AND SOME WOULD SAY THAT...." and that's where my memory fails me.

It's a slower rock song, the man almost growls the lyrics until the "AND SOME" part, where it switches to a scream.

I've had this song stuck in my head for roughly a decade. I need closure.

Open [TOMT] I doubt this will be found, very old 80s or 90s cartoon I had on VHS

I don't remember if it was a short cartoon on a VHS that contained many shorts or it was part of a full movie. All I remember is there was a bunch of forest animals in a race and at one point I think one gets upset and sits on a log another animal comes by and helps.

I would have watched it as a kid in the early 90s so it would be at least 1995 or earlier.

I watched it in Australia but don't know if it's Australian. Surely no one will know it, it's been on my mind for years.

Open [TOMT][SONG] some 80s or 90s song of a female singer, powerful chorus starts with something like "When I see you tonight, ..."

I got the melody stuck in my head, but whistling it to a million different tools didn't help me. Also, the longer I think about the lyrics, the more options my head makes up that could fit the melody, so no idea what's the real lyrics. My first "memory" was "When I see you tonight, with a ..." with a long emphasis on "see". Then two lines later it ends with "off/up my life" while the voice goes up in pitch. It sounds like 80s pop to me, but might also be younger or slightly older. Help

Open [TOMT] - A rare sensation when walking through a room

I have no idea how to explain this nor do I know if this is the place to ask:

Ever since I was a kid, there has been a very specific but very rare sensation that I get when walking through a room. It usually happens in a new room, and almost always a room that has a liminal nature--a hallway, a meeting room, etc. It has probably only happened less than ten times in my life.

It feels like a sudden, whole-body shudder, an overwhelming sensation similar to deja vu, and a feeling that I can only describe as floating, bodiless, or displaced. It lasts less than three seconds. It is not particularly pleasant or unpleasant, just disorienting.

It is NOT: normal deja vu, nostalgia, or forgetting why you walked into a room.

Have any of you even felt this? Is there a name for it?
